It was late at night. Zhang Xiaoxiao stood outside the courtyard, wrapping her coat tighter around herself, then sneezed. 0

"Zhang Xiaoxiao, you should go back, don't wait any longer," the system advised. 0

"I can't, I have to wait for Guangcai to come back," Zhang Xiaoxiao shook her head and said firmly. 0

"It's so late and he still hasn't returned; he probably won't come back tonight," the system said helplessly. 0

"That's not true, he said he would come back," Zhang Xiaoxiao insisted, shaking her head. 0

"How do you know he will come back? What if he's lying to you?" the system replied, speechless. 0

"He wouldn't lie to me," Zhang Xiaoxiao said confidently. 0

"Hmph, all men are liars!" the system snorted. 0

"Guangcai isn't," Zhang Xiaoxiao said lightly. 0

"Do you really know him?" the system asked. 0

"I..." Zhang Xiaoxiao hesitated for a moment, then shook her head, "I don't know him well, but I believe in him." 0

"You believe in him? Ha! How long have you known him that you dare to trust him?" the system scoffed. 0

"Even though I haven't known him for long, I know he is someone worth believing in," Zhang Xiaoxiao said firmly. 0

"You are truly hopeless," the system shook its head. 0

"You don't understand," Zhang Xiaoxiao sighed. 0

"Yes, yes, I don't understand; I don't understand human emotions," the system pouted. 0

"It's better that way," Zhang Xiaoxiao smiled. 0

"What do you mean by that?" the system asked in confusion. 0

"Nothing much," Zhang Xiaoxiao replied with a smile. 0

"If you're not going to say anything, then forget it," the system huffed. 0

"Okay," Zhang Xiaoxiao responded softly. 0

Seeing that she had fallen silent, the system also stopped talking and left. 0

Zhang Xiaoxiao stood alone outside the courtyard, gazing at the pitch-black night sky in a daze. 0

" Xiaoxiao, what are you doing standing here?" Suddenly, a voice came from the neighboring courtyard. 0

Zhang Xiaoxiao turned her head towards the sound. In the neighboring yard stood a middle-aged woman wearing a blue coat with short hair; she was slightly plump and had a kind face. This middle-aged woman was Mother Li. 0

"Auntie, hello," Zhang Xiaoxiao quickly greeted her politely. 0

" Xiaoxiao, you're still not resting?" Mother Li asked with a smile as she looked at her. 0

"I haven't yet," Zhang Xiaoxiao shook her head and said. 0

"Oh, are you waiting for Guangcai?" Mother Li asked with a smile. 0

"Yes," Zhang Xiaoxiao nodded and replied. 0

"Guangcai is really good to you," Mother Li said with a smile. 0

"Uh..." Zhang Xiaoxiao was suddenly at a loss for words. 0

"That boy really likes you," Mother Li said cheerfully. 0

"Hehe," Zhang Xiaoxiao chuckled awkwardly, unsure how to respond. 0

Seeing her embarrassment, Mother Li smiled and said, "Alright, I won't tease you anymore. Guangcai will be back soon, so you should go inside." 0

"Okay, goodbye, Auntie," Zhang Xiaoxiao quickly bid her farewell. 0

"Goodbye," Mother Li waved her hand and said. 0

Zhang Xiaoxiao turned and walked into the yard, then entered the house. 0

"Sigh, where is Xiu Mei? Why hasn't she come back yet?" Mother Li frowned as she looked at the empty yard. 0

"Where on earth has that child gone?" Mother Li murmured to herself. 0

"I need to go out and look for her," Mother Li said, turning around and leaving the yard. 0

Zhang Xiaoxiao sat on a stone bench, bored, resting her chin on her hand as she gazed toward the yard's entrance, quietly waiting. 0

Time passed by slowly. 0

Suddenly, Zhang Xiaoxiao stood up from the stone bench and quickly walked to the yard's entrance, opened the door, and stepped outside. 0

She walked along the path until she was outside the yard, waiting for Zhao Guangcai. 0

The night breeze gently blew, making her clothes rustle. 0

She rubbed her nose with her hand and continued to wait. 0

Finally, she heard the sound of a car engine and then saw a beam of light approaching from a distance. 0

It was Zhao Guangcai's car. 0

Zhang Xiaoxiao was filled with joy and waved her hand, shouting, "Guangcai! Guangcai!" 0

The car slowly stopped in front of her. 0

The car door opened, and Zhao Guangcai got out of the car. 0

"Guangcai!" Zhang Xiaoxiao hurried over and hugged him. 0

" Xiaoxiao, I'm back," Zhao Guangcai gently patted her back and said softly. 0

"Guangcai, why did you come back so late?" Zhang Xiaoxiao released him, pouting as she complained. 0

"I'm sorry for coming back late," Zhao Guangcai said apologetically. 0

"What happened to your face?" Suddenly, Zhang Xiaoxiao noticed the wound on Zhao Guangcai's face and nervously grabbed his arm, asking. 0

"It's nothing; I got scratched by a fox," Zhao Guangcai replied casually. 0

"What? A fox scratched you?" Zhang Xiaoxiao asked in surprise. 0

"Mm." Zhao Guangcai nodded. 0

"How did you get scratched by a fox?" Zhang Xiaoxiao asked with concern. 0

"I encountered two little foxes on the mountain. I wanted to catch them, but they ended up scratching me instead," Zhao Guangcai said casually. 0

"Did they bite you?" Zhang Xiaoxiao asked nervously. 0

"No," Zhao Guangcai shook his head and replied. 0

"Really? Don't lie to me," Zhang Xiaoxiao said, still worried. 0

"I'm really fine," Zhao Guangcai said, patting her head affectionately. 0

"Alright then," Zhang Xiaoxiao nodded. 0

"Okay, let's go home," Zhao Guangcai said with a smile. 0

"Mm." Zhang Xiaoxiao nodded. 0

The two of them held hands and returned to the yard together. 0

"Guangcai, do you want to go to the village doctor to check your wound?" Zhang Xiaoxiao asked. 0

"Maybe not," Zhao Guangcai hesitated. 0

"Still, you should get it checked. What if you catch rabies?" Zhang Xiaoxiao said worriedly. 0

"Rabies?" Zhao Guangcai was taken aback. 0

"Yes, foxes can carry the virus too," Zhang Xiaoxiao said seriously. 0

"I see." Zhao Guangcai nodded. 0

"So, please go get it checked," Zhang Xiaoxiao urged. 0

"Alright," Zhao Guangcai nodded in agreement. 0

"I'll go with you tomorrow morning," Zhang Xiaoxiao said. 0

"No need, I'll go by myself," Zhao Guangcai quickly waved his hand and replied. 0

"Okay then," Zhang Xiaoxiao reluctantly conceded. 0

Seeing her worried expression warmed Zhao Guangcai's heart. 0
