The power of the Demon King is even greater than I imagined!
"Hahaha, you overestimate yourself!" The man in the black robe laughed triumphantly at the scene.
I wiped the blood from the corner of my mouth, my gaze becoming sharper.
"I admit, your strength is impressive," I said coldly, staring at the man in black. "But do you really think this can defeat me?"
I took a deep breath, slowly raising my hands, gathering a dazzling golden light between my palms.
"Today, let me show you what true power really is!"
I roared and suddenly thrust the golden light forward! The golden light transformed into a beam, shooting straight towards the Demon King.
Caught off guard, the Demon King was struck by the beam and let out a piercing scream as his massive body crashed to the ground, dissipating into a cloud of black mist.
"No!" The man in black looked on in horror, unable to believe that his Demon King had been destroyed.
I coldly gazed at the man in black, stepping closer to him.
"Y-you stay back!" The man in black was terrified and kept retreating, but accidentally tripped over a stone and fell to the ground.
I stood before him, looking down with eyes filled with coldness.
"Who are you? Why are you doing this?" the man in the black robe asked in terror.
"You don't need to know," I replied coldly. "You only need to pay for what you've done."
As I spoke, a sphere of golden light began to form in my hand, ready to end the black-robed man's life.
"Stop!"
At that moment, a young man suddenly rushed in front of me, spreading his arms to shield the black-robed figure.
"What are you doing?!" I exclaimed, a mix of anger and surprise flooding through me.
"Please, let him go!" the young man pleaded. "He has already been punished. He has lost the Ghost King; he has nothing left!"
I fell silent, looking at this man who was pleading for a stranger. My heart was filled with mixed emotions.
"Just go," I finally said, lowering my hand and turning to leave.
Seeing this, the black-robed man felt as if he had received a reprieve and scrambled away in panic.
"Are you okay?" the young man ran to my side, concern etched on his face.
I shook my head and remained silent.
The young man gazed at me, his eyes filled with admiration. Gathering his courage, he took my hand and said earnestly, "You... you are truly amazing! I've never seen anyone as brave and kind as you..."
I looked at him, and a sudden wave of inexplicable sadness surged within me.
"I'm sorry." I gently withdrew my hand and turned to leave.
"Why?" the young man asked in confusion. "Why do you refuse me?"
I paused, facing away from him, and said lightly, "Humans and ghosts are on different paths; we are not meant to be together."
With that, I left without looking back.
The young man was left alone, standing in place, gazing at my retreating figure, reluctant to move on.
Exhausted, Wang Zhiqiu returned to the shop and slumped into a chair, staring at an old map hanging on the wall. His gaze fell on a spot marked "Yindu," and his heart was filled with mixed emotions.
After two thousand years, the world had changed beyond recognition. Though she possessed great power, she could never escape her lonely fate.
"Yindu..." Wang Zhiqiu murmured to himself. "Is that your last hope? Wang Zhiqiu..."
