The next morning, since it was a double day, Bing Tianyi could only go to help his parents with their business.
Although the shop was small, it had just opened and business was quite good. People came and went, creating a bustling atmosphere.
Father Bing and Mother Bing were busy in the kitchen, while Bing Tianyi moved in and out of the small shop, acting as a server.
Among all types of businesses, the food industry is arguably the most complex and labor-intensive. Especially in a small shop like this, hiring staff would clearly not be cost-effective. However, if they didn't hire anyone, the two of them would be busy all day long, and by evening they would likely be too exhausted to stand straight.
Time quickly passed to around one in the afternoon, and eventually, Bing Tianyi heard the last thing he wanted to hear.
“Tianyi, come in and chop the filling!”
To be honest, his parents had been in this line of work for a long time. Since he was in elementary school, they had been running this business. By the time he reached middle school, it seemed that one of his most common tasks after finishing homework each night was helping to chop filling.
Bing Tianyi had complained more than once, but he knew there was no way around it. If their business were larger, they could consider getting a filling machine. But since their business wasn't very big, they had to rely on manual labor.
“Got it.” Despite feeling a thousand unwilling thoughts in his mind, Bing Tianyi nodded in agreement and turned to head into the operation area.
Just as Bing Tianyi was finishing up a bowl of filling, a middle-aged man suddenly appeared at the shop entrance. He was tall, wearing sunglasses, and asked in a low but forceful voice, “Is Bing Tianyi here?”
Hearing this, Father Bing smiled and said, “May I ask what you need my son for?”
“Are you Bing Tianyi's father?” The man glanced at Father Bing and sneered.
Noticing something off about the man's expression, Father Bing curiously asked, “Did my son offend you in some way?”
“Enough. Let your son come out for a moment.”
Just as Father Bing hesitated, Bing Tianyi stepped out from the operation area. After joining his father, he took off his apron and said with a low laugh, “Dad, I'll go take a look; this man is my friend.”
Father Bing was somewhat skeptical, but he also knew that his son was now associating with various people from different walks of life, so he didn't ask too many questions.
After leaving with this man, Bing Tianyi was scrutinized from head to toe. The man then asked with a smile, "You were the one responsible for what happened yesterday, right?"
"What are you talking about?" Bing Tianyi replied.
"Don't you know?"
Facing the man's inquiry, Bing Tianyi calmly smiled and said, "If you're referring to the incident with the goat, then I can confidently say it was me."
Seeing Bing Tianyi's response, the man straightforwardly said, "You certainly have a big mouth. Alright then, come with me."
"Where are we going?"
"You'll find out when we get there." The man said as he turned to leave.
Bing Tianyi glanced at the bustling street and noticed the expression on the man's face. He felt a bit worried. If this person was affiliated with the goat incident, then going alone could lead to serious trouble.
With that thought in mind, Bing Tianyi stated, "Do you really think I'll go just because you say so?"
The man stopped and whispered with a smile, "It's simple. If you go today, your parents' shop will definitely be safe. If you don't go, well, let's just say the future of that shop is uncertain."
As he spoke, the man pulled out a lighter from his pocket and lit a cigarette.
Hearing this, Bing Tianyi's heart sank. After all, he had worked hard to borrow money to open that shop. If his actions caused his parents to lose it, it would greatly affect them.
After contemplating for a moment, Bing Tianyi nodded and smiled, "Alright then, I'll go with you to take a look."
The man's face lit up with a happy smile as he walked over to a Wuling Car parked by the roadside. He opened the door and said to Bing Tianyi with a grin, "Please get in."
Bing Tianyi glanced at the three young men sitting inside the car. They looked familiar, but he couldn't recall where he had seen them before.
After getting in the car, the man sat in the passenger seat and said to the driver, "Go."
As the vehicle continued to move forward, it quickly drove out of the city.
"Where are you planning to take me?" Bing Tianyi couldn't help but ask again.
No one in the car spoke; they all sat upright, staring straight ahead.
In fact, from the moment he got in the car, Bing Tianyi had been observing the men around him. Judging by their expressions, it was clear that these people were not simply going to beat him up.
Could they be planning to kill him? Bing Tianyi began to question himself. Just as his thoughts were racing, the phone of the man in the passenger seat suddenly rang.
After answering the call, the man spoke in a low voice, "We'll arrive in forty minutes."
With just that simple statement, he hung up.
A forty-minute drive on this road would either lead to a small village or another county.
Thinking about this, Bing Tianyi regretted getting into this car. If he hadn't gotten in, even if these people wanted to burn down his small shop, they wouldn't have succeeded so easily. Of course, even if they did succeed, he would only lose a little over thirty thousand yuan at most.
But now, having gotten into the car, he faced an uncertain fate in forty minutes.
"What kind of people are you? And where am I going?" Bing Tianyi asked again, unable to hold back.
Seeing Bing Tianyi making a fuss from behind, the man in the passenger seat said impatiently, "What are you making noise about? You'll know when we get there."
"Please tell me now!" Bing Tianyi pressed on.
"If you keep talking nonsense, I'll cut out your tongue," the man finally couldn't contain his anger and shouted at Bing Tianyi.
Hearing this, Bing Tianyi replied directly, "Fine then, go ahead and cut my tongue out right now!"
"Stuff my mouth," the man helplessly said to the three men sitting next to Bing Tianyi.
Without thinking much, the three men took a cloth from the side and forcibly stuffed it into Bing Tianyi's mouth.
With his mouth tightly sealed, it was impossible for Bing Tianyi to move now.
A forty-minute drive usually felt short to Bing Tianyi. However, today, those forty minutes nearly drove him to despair.
Sitting in the car, Bing Tianyi watched the scenery change around him, feeling increasingly anxious. It wasn't until they reached Water Cliff Village that he finally began to relax.
The car drove to the end of Water Cliff Village, and after getting out on a muddy road, the man looked at the reservoir ahead and said directly, "Take that thing out of his mouth."
As soon as the other party removed the cloth from Bing Tianyi's mouth, he asked loudly, "Who are you? Do you know that what you're doing is illegal?"
After Bing Tianyi finished speaking, the man turned back and smiled at him, saying, "Do you think we would be afraid of doing illegal things?"
Seeing the coldness in the man's eyes made Bing Tianyi feel even more chilled. However, escaping was no longer an option; with these burly men around him and the terrain being so unfavorable for him, he felt trapped.
On both sides of the small village were cliffs, and directly to the east was a reservoir.
With no choice left, Bing Tianyi could only grit his teeth and follow behind the man toward the reservoir.
When they reached the edge of the reservoir, as the man waved his hand, a small boat came drifting upstream. A man was sitting in it while a girl stood beside him holding an umbrella; it seemed like this man was fishing in the reservoir.
As the boat docked, the man signaled for the others to wait in the car and then smiled at Bing Tianyi, saying, "Let's go."
Bing Tianyi stepped onto the boat. The man who had been fishing turned around to glance at Bing Tianyi before continuing to focus on his fishing rod.
At that moment, Bing Tianyi also noticed the man's face. To be honest, if this fishing man were slightly younger, he might have ended up with Mei Fenfeng.
Not to mention the wrinkles on his face; especially those pockmarked pits on his cheeks made him look somewhat repulsive, resembling the surface of the moon.
In the county town, the only person with such an ugly appearance was Big Head.
Thinking of this, Bing Tianyi said nothing more and mustered the courage to sit on a small wooden chair beside him.
As the boat moved toward the center of the reservoir, Bing Tianyi looked at the deep green water in front of him and felt a twinge of fear. Ever since he nearly drowned the last time he fell into the water, he had developed a slight fear of it. Even when he jumped into the water to save Qin Qi last time, he had done so with great reluctance.
After sitting quietly on the boat for about twenty minutes, Big Head's fishing hook finally showed some movement. Seeing this, the girl standing next to Big Head exclaimed joyfully, "Big Brother, hurry up, it's biting!"
However, before she could finish her sentence, the hook that had just shown signs of life suddenly became still.
Looking at the clear water surface, Bing Tianyi whispered, "It's basically unlikely to catch fish here. If you can, you might want to move forward about thirty or forty meters; in that area, you should be able to catch something."
Big Head ignored Bing Tianyi's comment and continued to sit quietly at the bow of the boat, holding his fishing rod.
At this moment, autumn was in full swing. The trees on both banks had turned a mix of red and green, and the green water rippled gently. A cool autumn breeze brushed against their faces, bringing an indescribable sense of refreshment.
Bing Tianyi gazed at the beautiful scenery before him and glanced at Big Head beside him, secretly thinking, "I didn't expect a small thug to appreciate such ambiance."
But he was indeed mistaken; what Big Head valued was not the beauty of this place but its seclusion.
