"Where did the child come from?"
From this angle, Xia Yangyang felt a fragile pang in her neck, stirring terrifying and nauseating memories.
The needle in her sleeve was almost ready to pierce, but she held back, deciding to get him drunk first.
Reports indicated that marine creatures lacked the gene for drinking alcohol; they were all one-shot wonders.
Xia Yangyang gritted her teeth and said, "In human tradition, when a couple gets married, they need to drink from a shared cup. This symbolizes that the couple will weather storms together and support each other."
Victor remained silent, staring at the liquid in his cup, showing clear reluctance. Xia Yangyang thought he was alone in this, so she took the lead and drank, saying, "It's really delicious."
"Alright," Victor replied but still didn't move.
Xia Yangyang intensified her efforts: "Human civilization is a brilliant gem of Earth. We will always be together; let me take you to experience everything I have experienced across mountains and rivers, okay?"
Victor looked at her and lifted her hand to kiss it, saying, "My dear, that would be my utmost honor."
Under Xia Yangyang's expectant gaze, Victor imitated her and brought the rim of the cup to his lips. He tilted his head back as the liquid pooled at the edge of the cup.
Xia Yangyang grew anxious, her eyes fixed on the flowing liquid. Just then, there was a crisp crack, and the goblet shattered unexpectedly, falling into the water.
"What happened?" Victor expressed regret.
Xia Yangyang pursed her lips and remained silent.
"What a pity; I really wanted to share a cup with you. But it's alright; human civilization will shine forever. We can fulfill this traditional ritual another day."
Victor feigned a grand sense of regret while secretly curling his lips into a triumphant smile. He pulled her into his embrace and leaned down to kiss her, intending to distract her with his actions. However, Xia Yangyang remained as stiff as a wooden board, not moving an inch.
Suddenly, Victor felt a sharp pain on his tongue and quickly pulled away.
"Did you just bite me?"
Xia Yangyang wiped her lips and replied, "I can swallow a pearl and transform into something neither human nor fish. Why can't you?"
Neither human nor fish? That is my bloodline that I have trained for ten years.
Victor wrapped his Tentacle around her neck, adopting a superior posture. "Because we are born unequal. Humans have no right to resist me; they can only accept my grace."
Xia Yangyang scoffed, "I was born equal. If you insist on this, then just kill me."
"Say that again."
"I could say it a hundred times, and it would be the same. I will ask you countless times; beneath me, no life with a lowly bloodline is allowed to exist." Xia Yangyang pushed against the Tentacle and bit down on it.
Victor wanted to teach her a lesson but found himself at a loss. He regretted letting her consume it so early. He released Xia Yangyang and dove into the water, disappearing from sight.
Xia Yangyang leaned over the shore, coughing violently. What was he planning to do? Was he looking for new ways to torment me?
The system glanced at Victor, who was hiding in a giant shell recording everything, its corners twitching. He must be angry and planning to give you the cold shoulder.
Xia Yangyang looked at the syringe in her sleeve with disdain, noting the Octopus liquid that had contaminated it.
There were three days left until Victor's heat cycle began.
Everyone became busy. The researcher came to remind her once again that the egg retrieval surgery was scheduled for the day after tomorrow and that she must complete the task by tonight at the latest.
Upon hearing this news, Xia Yangyang felt conflicted and scared, but she gritted her teeth and decided to take a gamble.
The next day, Xia Yangyang dressed up carefully and approached the experimental tank.
Victor floated by the shore and said, "If you want to apologize to me, mere seduction and passion won't be enough."
Xia Yangyang remained silent, her mouth filled with a mouthful of Erguotou, holding a syringe disguised as a medical kit in her hand.
Worried, she knelt by the shore, cupped Victor's deep face in her hands, and kissed him.
Victor was shocked by her straightforward way of expressing her apology. As he opened his lips, a spicy liquid rushed in.
It was a taste he had never experienced before—both hot and cold. In the next moment, he felt his limbs go weak, and even his heartbeat became erratic. His heart raced faster than ever, as if resonating with hers through their skin.
The only difference was that he felt discomfort while she felt love.
Xia Yangyang pretended to kiss him passionately while searching for the syringe in the medical kit.
With the cold needle aimed at the fragile vein beneath his neck, she pushed the syringe in forcefully.
