Ma Gang looked at me and smiled as he asked, "Zhou Hong, are you going to miss me?" 0

I looked at him and replied, "Ma Gang, you must come back safely." 0

He hugged me and whispered in my ear, "When I return, we will get married." 0

I nodded. 0

Ma Gang left, and I watched his figure disappear at the elevator entrance. 0

I shouted loudly, "Ma Gang, you will definitely come back!" 0

However, I did not wait for him to return. 0

On the day of the wedding, I felt restless, my eyelids twitching incessantly. 0

The auspicious time had passed, and the guests were still waiting for Ma Gang's arrival. 0

I hadn't heard from Ma Gang for an entire week, and my heart was filled with unease. 0

My colleagues comforted me, saying that Ma Gang would be fine. 0

I smiled faintly, but my intuition was not good. 0

Just as I picked up the microphone to announce the cancellation of the wedding, the doors of the hotel hall opened. 0

Several soldiers walked in. 0

Their expressions were serious and sorrowful. 0

My heart suddenly raced; I sensed that the worst had happened. 0

The person at the front was holding a tray with neatly folded military uniforms and caps on it. 0

I heard someone say, "Comrade Ma Gang, may you rest in peace." 0

At that moment, my world collapsed. I fell to the ground and fainted. 0

When I woke up, I found myself lying on a hospital bed. I tiredly closed my eyes, and tears slid down the corners of my eyes. Ma Gang had promised to stay with me; he had said he would marry me. But now, he had broken his promise. It felt as if a piece of my chest had been gouged out, making it hard for me to breathe. 0

Ma Gang's comrades came to guard me in the hospital room. One of them urged me to eat something, but I had no appetite. I looked at him and asked, "Can you tell me about how Ma Gang sacrificed himself?" He nodded. 0

My heart tore apart once more. His comrade told me that Ma Gang sacrificed himself to rescue a kidnapped hostage. To save the hostage, he gave up his own life. He was shot by a criminal and was taken to the hospital, but they couldn't save him. 0

I cried uncontrollably, trembling all over. I asked, "Did he leave any last words for me?" The comrade shook his head. He handed me a ring wrapped in red cloth and a dried lavender flower. Those were Ma Gang's belongings. 0

I held the ring tightly, tears streaming down my face. I treasured the ring and wiped our wedding photo, reminiscing about the past. I cried, laughed, felt sweet moments, and then sank into sadness again. 0

If time could forever stay in this moment, how wonderful it would be. Ma Gang and I would get married, have children, and grow old together. But now, he has left me first. I buried my head in the pillow and cried out loud. Ma Gang, how could he go back on his word? How could he leave me all alone? 0

Suddenly, the doorbell rang. I quickly got up to open the door, holding onto a glimmer of hope that the person standing at the door would be Ma Gang. I opened the door only to find a delivery. Heartbroken, I brought the package inside and placed it on the coffee table. 0

As I opened the wrapping, I found a huge brown Hugging Bear. I hugged the bear tightly, and my nose tinged with sadness. I thought of Ma Gang; he had said he liked bears and enjoyed being held by me. 0

My hand suddenly brushed against a small note on the bear. I pulled it off, and it was written in Ma Gang's handwriting: "Zhou Hong, I love you. The bear will hug you for me until I come to marry you." 0

I couldn't hold back any longer; I clutched the bear and sobbed uncontrollably. Ma Gang would not come to marry me anymore. 0
