Ancient Golem Essence is very useful and can even be developed into an extremely powerful divine ability, which piqued Lu Chen's interest.
After the golem absorbed the Essence, it immediately dimmed and became a true stone statue, losing the awe-inspiring and divine feeling it once had.
Lu Chen stored the Ancient Golem Essence in Jun Bell for safekeeping, and then he and his companions continued to delve deeper into the Mausoleum Underground Palace.
Before long, Lu Chen and Yuanmo Laozu discovered another statue, this one depicting "Jiang," which also contained Essence.
However, Jiang was none other than a Demon Emperor from the history of the Demon Kingdom. Thus, it meant that Lu Chen and his companions had entered one of the Demon Thirteen Tombs, specifically Jiangling, which is considered a Main Tomb.
Yet, this Jiangling seemed rather stingy, as it did not yield any treasures or divine abilities; the only noteworthy item was a single Essence.
Lu Chen would not miss such an opportunity and promptly collected Jiang's Ancient Golem Essence for future use in his developments.
At this point, although Lu Chen had not obtained any other treasures, he had acquired two Ancient Golem Essences, which was still a decent haul.
Of course, divine abilities and treasures refer to valuable items that truly matter, at least things like the Ancient Golem Essence. Ordinary burial items like gold, silver, or fine Silk were simply not worth his attention.
Afterward, Lu Chen and Yuanmo Laozu continued to delve deeper into the Underground Palace. Although this Mausoleum Underground Palace was vast and scattered with many empty tombs, they were all interconnected. As long as they moved quickly enough, traversing through them was easy.
Moreover, the speed of Jun Bell was incredibly fast, far surpassing running on foot. After nearly half an hour of effort, Lu Chen and his companions entered another area.
This area was quite peculiar and different from others; at first glance, it appeared to be more luxurious, with crystals sparkling everywhere.
In comparison to where they had previously walked, this place was truly extravagant and very interesting.
Through their efforts, Lu Chen and Yuanmo Laozu maneuvered Jun Bell to reach the Main Tomb, where they encountered another Demon Emperor of the Demon Kingdom, “Mao.”
Yes, this Demon Emperor is Mao, named Mao, but it is hard to discern its true form because it manifests as a human shape.
Lu Chen took a look; the true body of Mao was still intact, not decayed, lying within the crystal. It had slightly gained weight, appearing seven parts human and three parts ghost, giving off an unsettling sense of evil.
Its corpse lay in the crystal, surprisingly undeterred by decay, which was a miracle. It seemed that many treatments had been applied to the body. This person was truly delusional, even in death refusing to let the corpse rot; one could only wonder about their intentions.
As for which Demon Kingdom emperor's corpse it was or whether it was a golem, Yuanmo Laozu did not care at all and allowed Lu Chen to act freely since he had no interest in these matters.
The outcome was predictable; Lu Chen directly shattered the crystal containing Mao, seized the Essence, and then invoked the Four Symbols Thunder Scripture to incinerate the body into ashes.
At this point, Lu Chen had acquired three Ancient Golem Essence, which he considered a substantial gain.
After leaving the Crystal Palace, Lu Chen and Yuanmo Laozu began discussing their plans.
"I think we should speed up because the longer we delay, the more disadvantageous it becomes for us. We must remember that we are not the only ones searching for treasures here," Yuanmo Laozu expressed his concerns.
Lu Chen nodded in agreement, acknowledging the validity of his words: "You are right; there is indeed a sense of delay. The main issue is that this Mausoleum might soon close. We must hurry and also be wary of ambushes from that group of Minotaurs."
Subsequently, Lu Chen and Yuanmo Laozu reached several Main Tombs, but none contained any traces of a Demon Monarch, only some later Demon Emperors.
Although these Demon Emperors held status and were not without fame, they could not possibly possess what Yuanmo Laozu sought: the Divine Treasure Elixir.
The purpose of their visit to the Demon Thirteen Tombs was solely for the Divine Treasure Elixir. Without it to cure Yuanmo Laozu's hidden ailment, everything would be in vain.
Even immortals can fall ill, and their ailments are generally difficult to treat. For instance, only the Divine Treasure Elixir could save Yuanmo Laozu.
After raiding six or seven Main Tombs, Lu Chen collected ten pieces of Ancient Golem Essence, along with a large knife. This knife appeared ordinary on the surface, but once infused with Yang Yuan, flames would immediately ignite on its surface, making it exceptionally terrifying.
Lu Chen suddenly realized that this knife was from the same origin as the Killing Demon Blade in the hands of the Minotaur, and there might be some connection between them. He didn't care about their connection; since it was a good item, he intended to take it back for Old Mu.
Additionally, some parts of the Main Tomb had been looted, with weapons and armor missing. These valuable items for the Demon Kingdom were nowhere to be found.
It seemed that the Minotaur's group was responsible for this; they truly were like locusts, leaving nothing behind in their wake.
However, they did not take items like Ancient Golem Essence, clearly indicating that these were useless to them. In fact, they had no use for Ancient Golem Essence because they did not understand its significance; they were merely a group of barbarians.
Jun Bell continued to fly forward, and along the way, Lu Chen and Yuanmo Laozu unexpectedly discovered some traces. These traces were not ordinary; they indicated a terrifying scene of mountains crumbling and stones shattering. It could be inferred that the Minotaur's group had engaged in internal conflict or encountered some powerful beings fighting over treasures.
The further they went, the more battle scars appeared, creating a shocking scene. Lu Chen and Yuanmo Laozu exchanged glances, understanding each other. At this moment, they both sensed that they were not far from the Main Tomb of the first Demon Emperor, the Demon Monarch. The critical moment was approaching, but they did not know what the outcome would be.
Lu Chen and Yuanmo Laozu controlled Jun Bell to continue moving forward. Soon, they entered a place resembling a palace.
This should indeed be a palace; its facilities were extremely luxurious, with intricate carvings and massive jade pillars everywhere, even more extravagant than the royal palace of the Great Zhou Dynasty.
There were even shaped mountains and rivers here, along with various human figurines and countless pieces of armor and weapons, making it feel like being inside a treasure trove, dazzling to behold.
"This must be the Main Tomb of the first person in the Demon Kingdom, the Demon Monarch. Only his Mausoleum would be adorned so lavishly," Yuanmo Laozu said to Lu Chen.
The opulence of this palace surpassed any Mausoleum they had ever seen; its scale was immense, and its construction was an extraordinary feat of craftsmanship.
"Then let's hurry inside," Lu Chen replied to Yuanmo Laozu.
The two quickly entered the interior and arrived at the Main Tomb chamber. However, at the very moment they stepped inside, both had an ominous premonition.
The statue of the Demon Monarch stood in the palace, which was also the Main Tomb chamber. It had not manifested into a human form but remained as a humanoid demon instead, looking exceptionally fierce and terrifying.
The appearance of the Demon Monarch was unclear for some reason, but the first impression was one of ferocity, accompanied by a large beard. He exuded an aura of bloodthirstiness and brutality, resembling a being of slaughter.
He extended one hand forward.
That hand, reaching out from a distance, held a gourd, which lay flat with the opening facing down, seemingly ready to spill its contents at any moment.
"The Divine Treasure Elixir is right there."
Yuanmo Laozu said, then his true form soared into the air, directly landing on the arm of a stone statue that was several dozen feet high, and then he walked over step by step.
Yuanmo Laozu leaned his head into the gourd, but after a long time, there was no response.
"What’s going on? Where's the medicine?" Lu Chen and the Treasure Guardian Beast asked Yuanmo Laozu anxiously from the ground.
Suddenly, Yuanmo Laozu's body trembled with anger and disappointment as he said, "The medicine is gone; someone took it."
"What? How could this happen? Someone actually got ahead of us and moved so quickly."
Lu Chen and the Treasure Guardian Beast were both shocked, never expecting that their trip would be in vain; the Divine Treasure Elixir had already been taken away.
It seemed that they were not the only ones aware of the Divine Treasure Elixir; others knew about it too. Moreover, those individuals had entered at the moment the Demon Thirteen Tombs descended, but still managed to get there first. This indicated that those people were not to be underestimated.
"What do we do now?" Lu Chen asked.
Yuanmo Laozu's expression darkened as he shook his head and said, "I don't know. It seems fate has dealt us this hand. We prepared for so long, yet the Divine Medicine was still snatched away."
In the following time, Lu Chen and Yuanmo Laozu wandered around the Demon Monarch's Main Tomb. Aside from themselves, they found nothing else; many places had been rummaged through, leaving a scene of chaos.
It seems that they not only fell behind one person but also many others, which is why they were outpaced and lost the best opportunity to seize the Divine Treasure Elixir.
"Listen, what is that sound?"
Lu Chen, with his keen ears, was the first to notice an unusual noise coming from behind a bright stone wall in front of them. The sound was chaotic, as if many people were fighting on the other side.
Lu Chen raised his hand and tapped the stone wall; it was solid and did not seem fake, but the noise inside was real. It appeared that something was happening next door, and since that was the case, it was necessary to go take a look.
However, taking a detour would be troublesome; the internal pathways of the Demon Emperor's Tomb were intricate and could easily lead to getting lost.
Yuanmo Laozu instructed Lu Chen and the Treasure Guardian Beast to step back a bit. He immediately manifested his True Form of the Ape Demon, transforming into a Giant Ape towering ten zhang high.
With a roar, Yuanmo Laozu charged directly at the stone wall. There was a tremendous crash as he broke through, creating a large hole, revealing an expansive area beyond.
