Huangfu Xun is truly calculating, trying to pull both Lu Chen and Yin Boqing into the Qi Kingdom's camp all at once; her appetite is quite insatiable.
I fear she has long wanted to recruit someone like Yin Boqing, as having a Virtual Immortal Master within a faction undoubtedly adds considerable combat power and deterrence.
Currently, aside from a few Major Sects and the Seven Great Families of the Demon King Dynasty, as well as the Western Amitabha Sanctuary, I have not heard of any other Virtual Immortal Masters emerging.
Huangfu Xun initially only intended to recruit Lu Chen, but now she has the opportunity not only to win over Lu Chen but also to connect with a Virtual Immortal Master. With her mindset that subordinates should serve her, how could she let this opportunity slip away?
Thus, she is willingly offering her Flesh at this moment!
“Lu Chen, brother, do we really need to think this over?” Huangfu Xun blocked Lu Chen's arm and rubbed against him.
Lu Chen felt her touch was soft and delightful, thinking to himself: “This enchantress is trying every trick to seduce me, her intentions are similar to those of Chu Yuzhu; both want to use me as a stepping stone and kick me aside when I'm no longer useful. The only difference is that she isn't as obvious as Chu Yuzhu.”
Regardless of whether her feelings are genuine or feigned, Huangfu Xun has already taken action.
Huangfu Xun has even sacrificed her allure, yet Lu Chen remains unmoved. After enjoying the moment, he withdrew his hand seriously and said, “Thank you for your affection, Princess, but I must disappoint you. My Master is very strict; I cannot accompany you. If Princess insists on recruiting me, then you should first go and please my Master!”
With that, Lu Chen stood up and maintained a certain distance from Huangfu Xun.
Given Yin Boqing's character, it is impossible for him to get involved in the struggles of Imperial Authority. Lu Chen's suggestion for Huangfu Xun to please Yin Boqing makes his intentions very clear.
After being rejected by Lu Chen, Huangfu Xun's expression turned somewhat unpleasant. She likely rarely fails when using her charm as leverage. Taking a deep breath, she said, “No, Brother Lu Chen should reconsider; there’s no rush to make a decision right away. I can wait. You are a Ming Ren; I believe in you.”
Huangfu Xun had already walked to the door and kept glancing back at Lu Chen, but he remained standing still, revealing his thoughts clearly.
Huangfu Xun turned around and left in disappointment.
After a while, Old Mu walked in and said, "Master, she only wants to win us over to do her bidding."
"I know that," Lu Chen replied.
"She is using benefits as a bargaining chip, which cannot compare to the friendship you have with Sun Emperor," Old Mu added.
Sun Emperor refers to Sun Zizhao, who is the true Royal Descendant of the Former Dynasty, of Han People lineage. Governor of Wu Prefecture Liu Fang and his disciple Wang Qiao both refer to him as the Emperor.
The term "Emperor" is a title used by subjects for their sovereign, but Sun Zizhao only has the title of royal descendant and has not yet truly ascended to the throne, so calling him an emperor is not appropriate. However, adding "Ye" (meaning "lord") after it changes the meaning; it maintains respect while also acknowledging Sun Zizhao's identity, making it quite fitting.
Lu Chen understood that Old Mu was trying to remind him not to stray down a wrong path. If Qi Kingdom were to rise in rebellion, it would be considered treason and would be judged by history, as well as weighed in the hearts of people, leading to a lifetime of infamy.
But Sun Zizhao is different; as a royal descendant, he can fully rally under the banner of restoring the Han Dynasty. This would not only spare him from criticism but would also attract many righteous individuals to his cause, highlighting the distinction.
"Old Mu, I am well aware of my own thoughts; you need not worry at all," Lu Chen said confidently, straightening his back.
Old Mu acknowledged him and then left. He wouldn’t directly ask Lu Chen about his plans; there are things Old Mu wouldn't inquire about. That is simply his character—mostly silent.
After resting for a night, Lu Chen continued practicing the Moon King Sword Technique on the second day.
He had already reached an introductory level and grasped the basic characteristics of the Moon King's Blade. However, there are several powerful killing moves within the Moon King Sword Technique that embody its essence and can be considered lethal techniques.
These powerful moves also involve different body movements; combining body techniques with sword techniques allows for perfect killing moves when both body and blade are in motion together.
The first move is Fairy Leap. In the Moon King Sword Technique, Fairy Leap primarily tests leg strength. One can jump high using just their legs, leaping four or five zhang (a traditional Chinese unit of measurement). It is said that the Moon King himself could jump ten zhang high, equivalent to a medium-sized tree.
Relying solely on two legs to jump ten zhang high is quite different from the Deer Demon Leap in the Five Animal Vitality Magic Technique, which uses both hands and feet.
Lu Chen is accustomed to striking the ground with his fists first, then using all four limbs to jump simultaneously.
The action of striking the ground with his fists is a form of the Monkey Demon Technique. This movement helps correct posture and adjust the center of gravity of the Flesh.
The Fairy Leap differs from the Deer Demon Leap; the Fairy Leap does not rely on any external assistance, relying only on two legs.
From the naming alone, it can be inferred that there are no animals that move solely by jumping on two legs, including humans. Therefore, the name Fairy Leap does not derive from an animal or a human but rather from a celestial being, as only those legendary immortals could leap high using just their legs, effortlessly jumping over vast chasms while maintaining endurance and explosive power.
Lu Chen found a vine and tied his feet together, then practiced jumping in the forest. If he jumps with all his strength using only his legs, he can reach a height of about one and a half zhang, with just the soles of his feet leaving the ground at that height.
If his legs bend in mid-air, he can achieve a height of two and a half to three zhang.
Lu Chen has spent more than half a month practicing just this one movement of the Fairy Leap, expending countless energy. Fortunately, he has the Supreme Garment to restore his stamina; otherwise, no one else would likely be able to endure such consumption.
In Taoist Qigong practice, fasting is essential. Fasting means abstaining from grains and all food because food leaves behind waste. The Five Element Sect has the Celestial Elixir Institute, which specializes in refining pills that enhance qi, replenish blood, and regulate the body. Disciples usually go to receive these elixirs, but even miraculous pills can leave behind medicinal residues.
Thus, Lu Chen ate nothing and only drank Clear Water because Su Wutong had long warned him that any food or elixir would leave residues within the Flesh, which could be harmful. His stamina has always relied on the Supreme Garment for support.
All the elixirs distributed by the Five Element Sect according to physical constitution were given to Old Mu by Lu Chen so that Old Mu could use them to enhance qi, replenish blood, and regulate his body.
Having practiced the Fairy Leap to a proficiency of about sixty percent, Lu Chen can now jump three and a half zhang high from a standing position, barely able to leap onto a medium-sized tree.
Yue Shaojun was able to escape from encirclement by over a hundred Garrison soldiers thanks to the Fairy Leap.
Even if hundreds of troops surrounded Lu Chen now, he had the ability to retreat unscathed.
Of course, the original intention of the Moon King in creating Fairy Leap was not for escaping, but for weaving through enemy lines.
After mastering Fairy Leap, Lu Chen began practicing Whirlwind Slash.
Whirlwind Slash also relied on a specific movement technique called Gyro Spin, where the Flesh spun on the ground like a top, hence the name Gyro Spin.
In the Crazy Serpent Seven Star Classic, the initial move involving stepping on the Seven Stars also included a spinning Flesh technique, but it was not as intense as Gyro Spin.
With Gyro Spin combined with two Dual Blades, holding one blade in his right hand and reversing the grip in his left hand, the Dual Blades would slice through the air with a "zzzz" sound, causing lethal damage. Any enemy daring to approach within range would be instantly cut in half by the whirlwind.
At first, Lu Chen could only manage four or five spins, and if he spun too much or too long, he would become dizzy. This was an issue of balance. It wasn't that Lu Chen's balance was weak; having practiced the Crane Demon Technique, his center of gravity had long surpassed that of his peers.
The dizziness stemmed from a lack of habit and was an adjustment issue regarding his center of gravity. Once he adjusted the direction of his center of gravity properly, this problem could be easily resolved.
After repeated practice, Lu Chen could now spin over ten times at once, producing a "zzzzzz" sound with the Dual Blades as they violently sliced through the air, creating a terrifying force.
In addition to Fairy Leap and Gyro Spin, there were two other powerful moves in the Moon King Sword Technique: Venomous Dragon Drill and Fire Dance Wheel.
The Venomous Dragon Drill relied on the tenon and mortise at the ends of the handles of the two Dual Blades—one being a tenon and the other a mortise, allowing them to connect.
Lu Chen attempted to join the handles of both blades while keeping their tips separated by about shoulder-width apart. At the same time, he intentionally distorted the design at the joint so that the blade edges slightly angled outward.
The effect of this was that when executing Venomous Dragon Drill, the angled blade edges would cut straight through everything in front according to the direction of rotation—killing gods if they stood in his way and killing Buddhas if they obstructed him.
"Such a domineering design!" Lu Chen murmured.
He then raised the Dual Blades above his head and executed the Gyro Spin, either advancing forward or leaping high with the Fairy Leap. The blades of the Dual Blades remained tilted, using Flesh for rotational force, while Fairy Leap served as the centripetal force, continuously slicing and shredding.
If faced with an army of thousands, Lu Chen would not hesitate to use the Venomous Dragon Drill to charge in fiercely, turning both men and horses into minced meat.
This is the Venomous Dragon Drill.
There was also the Fire Dance Wheel, where the two Dual Blades connected without any bending angles. Gripping the joint tightly with both hands, he spun the Dual Blades with all his might.
At that moment, the Dual Blades resembled a monk's staff. Lu Chen had seen Eastern Shaolin disciples wielding such staffs; when a solid wooden staff of about ten feet was spun around, it produced a "whoosh" sound due to its thickness.
However, the Dual Blades were different. The blades were thin, and their joint was designed in a distorted manner. No matter how smoothly they were spun, the blades would cut through the air without producing any unpleasant sounds.
Lu Chen gripped the handles of the Dual Blades tightly at the joint and swung them with all his strength, without any flair or showiness—just pure power.
The sound was a crisp "zzzz," very pleasant and melodious.
