Volume Eight: Fireworks
Piyong Affiliated Middle School has always been a school full of romantic colors and humanistic care. In the boring and oppressive days of the oath-taking ceremony, everyone listens to the leaders' speeches. Biyong Middle School took the children to the seaside.
After a three-hour car ride, Guo Jia felt drowsy. When watching the sunset, they weakly rested their chin on Jia Xu's shoulder, sticking to Jia Xu like a piece of taffy.
A bonfire formed by each class illuminated the dim coastline, Guo Jia looked up at the insects dancing around the street lights and felt that this atmosphere was very suitable for doing something. Not knowing what the teacher said, there were gradually small sobbing sounds in the crowd. Guo Jia turned to look at Jia Xu and also found his eyes were red, feeling shocked.
The usually serious Teacher Cui also spoke a lot, not with grandiose words, but with the concern of an ordinary elder for the future of the children. Guo Jia suddenly realized that the over fifty-year-old Teacher Cui had also hunched over at some point.
Then, when criticized for his work style, he rolled his eyes and thought, "What's there to worry about? They can't possibly criticize twenty more people like me."
During free time, Guo Jia walked slowly along the beach, the cold sea water lapping at his ankles. He didn't look back, but he was sure Jia Xu was just a step behind him. Then Guo Jia paused and walked side by side with Jia Xu.
Guo Jia lazily hooked his finger onto Jia Xu's hand, exerting no force, just a casual gesture of almost holding but not quite, intentionally teasing Jia Xu.
Boom— a huge firework exploded in the sky as if it cost nothing, illuminating the pitch-black night with colorful lights. Jia Xu watched as those eyes, filled with fireworks, drew closer to him.
A gentle kiss landed on the corner of the eye, and amidst the roar of fireworks, Jia Xu heard Guo Jia say, "Wenhe, I like you."
Instantly, all was silent.
Only two heartbeats remain synchronized because of the embrace.
Volume 9, Clear Water
Guo Jia loves drinking water and also loves drinking alcohol. When the liquid flows down the throat, it's like a flowing river. When Jia Xu gets too absorbed in studying and forgets to drink water, Guo Jia will pour some and bring it to him.
Sticking to Jia Xu's dry and peeling lips, he poured cold water into it. Guo Jia always acts without any restraint, pressing down on Jia Xu without moving.
Clearly a very thin person, but it seems as if there is a heavy weight pressing down, making Jia Xu unable to breathe, kissed into a daze. The wind flips the pages of the book with a rustling sound. The handsome young man sits against the light on the desk, smiling and asking Jia Xu with moist lips, " Wenhe, do you want to be with me forever?"
Perhaps it was the perfect sunlight, or perhaps it was the intoxicating fragrance, when the warm breeze passed through and tousled his hair, Jia Xu nodded involuntarily.
In Volume Ten, everything in the world is not as good as expected. Xun Yu acted like a patriarch, Guo Jia and Jia Xu clearly had the potential to excel, but he still worried about them, although Guo Jia worried more.
Two weeks before the exam, Xun Yu, not knowing who to listen to, heard that the Manjushri in the temple in the outskirts of the city was quite effective. In a modern society, a good young person should not believe in these things, but for the sake of psychological comfort, Xun Yu still took the two children.
The first time they prayed, Xun Yu stood at the incense offering place and was enthusiastically promoted by an aunt, and bought a bunch of various incense and scriptures. Originally, it was just for academic success, but after a round, there were additional requests for safety, career success, wealth, and safe passage, and so on.
Xun Yu is holding incense and scrolling through the phone to check the precautions for the first time worshipping Buddha. What should be said to convey the wish in its entirety.
When lighting the incense, due to taboo, Xun Yu used Guo Jia's lighter to light it. It was fine to light a cigarette with the windproof lighter, but it was a bit difficult to light a bunch of incense. When lighting the last bunch, the lighter head had completely melted. Guo Jia shook off the remaining lighter fluid, threw the lighter into the trash can, and laughed, saying its mission was accomplished.
After offering incense to Manjushri, the golden powder from the incense fell on my hand. Xun Yu was communicating with the monks, lighting two wisdom lamps, and asking how much money would be appropriate for the incense offerings. Guo Jia was strolling around the main hall with his hands behind his back, looking up at the tall Arhat statues, and somewhat absentmindedly said, "May I ask, venerable one, why there is so much suffering in the world and why things are so often not as we wish."
No one answered his question, and Guo Jia didn't seek an answer either. He just fell silent while cleaning his hands, then turned and smiled when he saw Jia Xu.
Holding Jia Xu's hand, they strolled slowly in the temple, watching people offering coins into the tall censer. Guo Jia turned and threw a coin into the lotus pond, saying that under the Buddha's light, making a wish anywhere would be the same.
When paying respects to Guanyin, Guo Jia thought, "Why is Xiaoguban so devout when paying respects? Who is in his wishes?"
When donating money for incense, Guo Jia hesitated for a moment and still gave a little less. Jia Xu asked why he didn't give a round number, and Guo Jia thought of the question he asked in front of the Arhat, and said with a smile, "In life, eight or nine out of ten things are not as satisfactory. Incompletion is also a kind of completion, right, Wenhe?"
If making a wish in front of the Buddha to always be together, it's too fake, too fake. Ninety is almost there, so what?
Jia Xu is complete because of incompleteness.
