I quietly locked eyes with him before quickly looking away.
Lu Ruijun shuddered all over and then released his hand that was covering my mouth. He gently cradled my face, his fingertips softly stroking my cheek. His breath was hot, and the color in his eyes deepened.
"Yan Zhou..."
"Is it you..."
The corners of my mouth curled into a mocking smile. "No." I pushed him away and took a few steps back.
"Lu Ruijun, you've had too much to drink. You should go rest."
After saying that, I turned to leave.
"Xu Yuezhu!"
Lu Ruijun pulled me back.
"Why?" he asked, his eyes red.
"What do you mean why?"
He stared at me, darkness swirling in his gaze.
"Because you love me, right?"
"Because you love me to madness, that's why you caused Yan Zhou's death."
"I didn't..."
"You did!" Lu Ruijun shouted angrily.
"Xu Yuezhu, you loved me to the point of insanity, so you arranged for Yan Zhou to come out and had two people rape her."
I looked at Lu Ruijun quietly, feeling both amused and furious. I took a deep breath and said softly, "Lu Ruijun, you're drunk."
"I'm not drunk!"
He shouted angrily.

I clenched my fists tightly, my nails digging deep into my flesh.
“Am I dirty?”
“Is Jiang Yanzhou not dirty?”

Lu Ruijun struck me hard across the face.
I turned my head from the blow, a trickle of blood seeping from the corner of my mouth.
“Get out.”
He said coldly.
I turned back to him, staring, and suddenly laughed: “You want me to get out?”
“Lu Ruijun, where do you want me to go?”
I laughed as I took off my coat and dress.
“Lu Ruijun, look at me.”
“Look at all these scars on my body; which one was not given by you?”
Lu Ruijun stared at my body, his gaze momentarily frozen.
I had many scars on me.
Some had faded, leaving only faint marks.
Others were still deep and grotesque.
These were all remnants from that night.
Lu Ruijun fixed his gaze on those scars, the emotions in his eyes growing stronger.
He reached out his hand, seemingly wanting to touch those scars.
But in the end, he turned away.
“Just go.”
His voice was very cold.
“Xu Yuezhu, just go.”
I stared at his back and smiled, "Alright."
"Lu Ruijun, goodbye."
Five years later.
The eldest son of the Lu Family, Lu Ruijun's older brother, tragically passed away abroad, and Lu Ruijun's mother suffered a mental breakdown.
As I walked through the hospital corridor, I encountered Lu Ruijun once again.
He had matured significantly; the youthful innocence in his eyes had faded, and he appeared more composed.
He stood by the door of the ward, looking haggard.
Upon seeing me, he nodded lightly, "Yuezhu."
I looked at him and said nothing.
Suddenly, the ward door opened, and Lu Ruijun's mother was pushed out on a hospital bed.
Her gaze was vacant, her expression dazed.
As she passed by Lu Ruijun, she suddenly grabbed his hand.
She clutched his arm tightly, digging her nails into his flesh.
"Your brother is dead! Your brother is dead!"
"You must swear! You must swear!"
Lu Ruijun embraced her and gently patted her back, "Mom, please calm down."
"You have to swear!" Lu Ruijun's mother cried out hoarsely,
"You have to swear to marry Xu Yuezhu!"
"You must swear to marry Xu Yuezhu!"
Lu Ruijun did not refuse.
Our wedding was set for midwinter.
On the day of the wedding, I wore a bridal gown and walked step by step towards him.
It felt as if I could see my seventeen-year-old self.
