"What's it to you?"
"And what's it if not?"
Han Wen squinted her eyes, staring at me for a long time before she smiled.
"Good."
"Very good."
"Jiang Huan, you've grown some skills."
I smiled faintly and calmly said, "If Your Majesty has no further business, then I shall take my leave."
"I need to rest."
Han Wen snorted coldly and remained silent.
She was about to walk over to me when suddenly, Jiang Zhizhu called out.
"Oh no!"
Han Wen stopped in her tracks, furrowing her brows as she looked at him in confusion.
"What is it?"
Jiang Zhizhu crouched down and pointed at the porcelain shard on the ground, softly saying, "This piece of porcelain..."
"Seems like it fell from a teacup."
Upon hearing this, Han Wen's expression turned icy.
She turned to me and asked sharply, "Jiang Huan, what on earth are you doing?"
I smiled innocently and replied, "I have no idea."
Han Wen snorted coldly and said sternly, "You are simply unreasonable!"
"Look at yourself! What kind of appearance is this!"
"You aren't even wearing shoes!"
As she spoke, she walked towards me.
Seeing this, Jiang Zhizhu smiled slyly.
He secretly stepped on the porcelain shard and pretended to lose his balance, leaning to the side.
"Oh no!"
Han Wen stopped and turned to look at Jiang Zhizhu.
"Zhiwei, what's wrong?"
Jiang Zhizhu furrowed her brows, looking pained as she said, "I think I stepped on a shard of porcelain."
"It hurts!"
Han Wen's expression turned cold. She quickly stepped forward and hugged Jiang Zhizhu tightly.
"Are you okay?"
Jiang Zhizhu shook her head, looking pitiful as she said, "It really hurts."
Han Wen frowned and said sternly, "Don't be afraid."
"I'll summon the imperial physician right away!"
"Just hold on!"
Jiang Zhizhu nodded and obediently replied, "Okay."
Han Wen held Jiang Zhizhu and turned to leave.
She walked briskly, not even glancing at me.
I silently watched their retreating figures, not saying a word.
Han Wen hurried away with Jiang Zhizhu in her arms.
Jiang Zhizhu turned to look at me and flashed a provocative smile.
I quietly observed them, remaining silent.
I touched my chest and frowned.
Strange.
Why do I feel nothing at all?
The past few days have been very quiet for me.
Han Wen hasn't bothered me, and Jiang Zhizhu hasn't either.
I stroll leisurely in the imperial garden every day, feeling as if I've returned to my youth.
The spring in the imperial garden is beautiful.
The lake shimmers with green waves, and the flowers are vibrant and lush.
Once upon a time, I felt that everything was very oppressive. Every blade of grass and every tree in the palace reminded me of how Han Wen and Jiang Zhizhu were so affectionate with each other. I also recalled how I had been demoted from wife to consort, and then to concubine.
But now, I find everything in the Imperial Garden to be beautiful. The lake is a vibrant green, and the flowers are bright and colorful. My mood is calm and pleasant.
In recent days, I haven't paid much attention to the news from Phoenix Palace. Each time I hear something, it stirs no emotions within me. There was even one occasion when I heard that Han Wen had rewarded the Empress with many gifts. Yet, I felt no sadness at all; in fact, I thought it had nothing to do with me.
Sometimes, I even think back to my past with Han Wen. To my surprise, I found that I felt no stirring of emotions whatsoever. This change astonished even me. I felt as if my mind had never been so clear and lucid.
Han Wen's attendant came to Chunlu Palace and said that the shaman was ready and asked me to prepare for the bloodletting. I found it strange. Why would my blood be needed for someone else's detoxification? Moreover, it would hurt. Instinctively, I refused.
"Biqiong, close the palace doors."
Biqiong nodded obediently and said, "Yes." The shaman and others were locked outside. No matter how they called out, I ignored them. Moments later, Han Wen arrived.
