"What did you find?" the young man asked.
A police officer approached and saluted respectfully, saying, "Report, Captain. Based on the clues at the scene, we can preliminarily confirm it was a homicide. We found the victim's identification; he was a chef from a nearby restaurant..."
The officer continued reporting, but the young man interrupted, "Stop talking nonsense."
"Yes!" The officer saluted again, glanced around, pulled the young man back a few steps, and whispered in his ear, "The victim's blood has been completely drained. We suspect it was done by a Zombie."
"A Zombie?"
"That's right; it should be a Walking Corpse."
Without saying anything further, the Heroic Youth pushed past them and walked into the alley.
The victim's clothes were very loose and ill-fitting, several sizes too big.
A work ID fell out of his pocket; the clothing depicted in it was similar to what he wore but much larger—almost three hundred pounds.
"When we first saw it, we also suspected it wasn't one person until we noticed the bite marks on the neck," one officer said as he came over and pulled down the victim's collar.
Indeed, two small holes slightly narrower than a pinky finger were visible, still showing traces of fresh blood.
The Heroic Youth turned the victim's head to take a look and gently dabbed some of the blood from the neck, bringing it to his nose to sniff.
"Not a Zombie," was the conclusion reached by the young man.
"Not a Zombie? But all the evidence suggests that this should be the work of a Walking Corpse."
"That's why I told you to read more books, but you just wouldn't listen," the young man said, exasperated.
He then patiently explained, "Zombies and vampires both enjoy human blood, but there is a clear distinction between them. That is the wound." He pointed to the injury on the deceased's neck.
"Both Zombies and vampires have four sharp teeth, but Zombies prefer to use all four teeth together, resulting in four tear-shaped wounds. Vampires, on the other hand, are accustomed to using their upper teeth to draw blood, so their wounds are typically two punctures. Since they tend to move around a bit afterward, the wounds are thicker."
The officer listened in admiration and clapped his hands. "As expected of the captain; you're truly a scholar, remembering all this so clearly."
The Heroic Youth stood up and gave him a light smack on the head. "Brat, this is all basic knowledge; we covered it in training!"
"Hey Captain, could you stop smacking me? It feels like you're scolding a child," the officer said with a wry smile while covering his head.
The captain glanced back at him and then playfully tucked his head under his arm. "Aren't you the one I raised, Brat!"
"Captain! There are many people here."
Indeed, those around them looked astonished, never expecting to see a police officer with such an eccentric personality.
"Ahem." Clearing his throat, the captain returned to his usual aloof demeanor.
"No need for photos; let's take the body back for processing and notify the family when it's ready. We should check the surveillance footage; this alley sees little traffic, so there might be clues."
Not far away, Ye Mingshang watched them with great interest. Although their conversation was quiet enough that others couldn't hear it, his hearing was more than five times that of an average person; it felt as if they were speaking right next to him.
Before leaving, the captain sensed a sharp gaze directed at him and couldn't help but look back.
"Is it an illusion?" He frowned, then shook his head and left.
The rest of the matter was left to the Junior Officers; it was just some trivial cleanup tasks.
Their approach was quite different. The police were supposed to protect the scene for investigation purposes. Instead, they disregarded those clues and cleaned everything up with some strange disinfectant.
If it weren't for their police uniforms, one might think they were destroying evidence.
Ye Mingshang returned and patted Li Mengyu's small hand, saying, "Let's go."
After encountering such an incident, neither of them had the desire to linger, so they strolled back to the hotel.
After a round of intimacy, they washed up and rested.
At midnight, a shadow swiftly passed by the window.
Ye Mingshang instantly opened his eyes and glanced at the sleeping Li Mengyu beside him before closing his eyes again.
Swish!
This time, another shadow slipped past the door.
Ye Mingshang did not go back to sleep; instead, he gently sat up, not even putting on his shoes, and quietly walked to the door.
Creak.
He gently opened the door and looked around.
Swish! A shadow flew past from the nearby staircase.
Just as it passed by, it darted outside the window at the corner of the stairs.
"Is it trying to take me somewhere?" Ye Mingshang frowned.
Being bold, Ye Mingshang wasn't afraid of any tricks. He directly pushed open the window and jumped out.
After that, the shadow flashed by again, just in time to guide him in the right direction.
As he followed, Ye Mingshang felt puzzled.
Given his speed and perception, there shouldn't be anyone who could evade him.
Yet this shadow seemed to be just within his perception, giving him the feeling that it could easily shake him off at any moment.
"Your stealth techniques are quite impressive. I want to see what you're up to," Ye Mingshang squinted his eyes, undeterred, and chased after it.
The distance they traveled was not short, about ten miles, until they stopped by an artificial lake.
"Why bring me here? Is it just to let me enjoy the night view?" Ye Mingshang furrowed his brow.
Suddenly, there was a rustling sound from the bushes nearby.
"Is it over there?"
Ye Mingshang walked over; the bushes were still shaking. He swung his hand forcefully, and with a gust of wind, he sent the shrubs flying.
"Ah!"
Behind the bushes, there were two bodies intertwined.
"You, what are you doing!" Below, the woman with a delicate face immediately covered her chest, looking very frightened.
Only Ye Mingshang noticed the flash of ruthlessness in her eyes.
As for the man pinned beneath her, he was already scared out of his wits.
Now that he had the time to react, he saw the thin young man standing behind him and instantly felt rage rising within him.
Without caring about his nakedness, he stood up abruptly.
"Damn it! Who the hell are you? I come here to have some fun and you want to ruin it. Are you sent by my wife? Speak!" The man shouted, pointing at Ye Mingshang.
Ye Mingshang did not look at him but instead gazed at the beautiful woman behind him, whose skin was fair and body completely bare.
"Hey! You dare to look? You've really got some guts. Do you know what kind of reputation I have around here? I am Black-faced Yama's Deathly Kill. How many people avoid me when they see me? Do you believe I can gather a hundred brothers in a minute to take you down?" (To be continued.)
