"You, are you all planning to collectively resist the law?!" The police officer, feeling cornered, blurted out such words in frustration.
"I say, Buddy, have you watched too many dramas? Collective resistance to the law? That sounds just like something a corrupt official would say," a middle-aged man scoffed while picking his nose.
"Stop messing around, my good Captain. Just go home; we don't need you here."
"Exactly, just leave."
The crowd began to jeer, and the police officer, embarrassed and angry, shouted, "I am a police officer! I am enforcing the law impartially. Are you all really planning to resist the law?!"
The boy pulled the old man behind him protectively and said defiantly, "Whether we resist the law or not, I don't know. What I do know is that the law exists to protect the rights of the people and maintain social order. It is definitely not meant to be enforced by someone like you who rigidly adheres to rules!"
"You!"
"If you have the ability, then take all of us Fellows away. If you don't leave now, you won't have a good outcome. Everyone is recording this; if it gets posted online, do you think you'll keep your job? Or are you just a temporary worker? Or maybe you're completely fake?"
The police officer's face turned from green to white with anger, and finally he gritted his teeth and said, "Fine, kid. I remember you. We will meet again."
Hearing this made everyone chuckle a bit. It was like when kids in elementary school would say, "You wait for me after school."
However, the boy felt that this police officer seemed to mean more than just words.
"Young man, not bad! Very brave," said a man in his thirties who was fit and had bright eyes full of spirit.
"Hehe!" Being praised made the young man blush a little.
"This is my business card. If those two Fellows dare to trouble you, just give me a call," the Heroic Young Man said with a smile as he handed over a business card.
"Oh, okay." Although he didn't understand why he should help himself, the boy felt he should catch it.
With a smile, the Heroic Young Man patted the boy's shoulder and left.
Soon after, everyone else gradually dispersed, some even complimenting him as they left.
"Hey! I didn't expect you to be so reliable at a critical moment," said a female companion who came over, lightly jumping and giving him a playful punch on the shoulder.
Shrugging his shoulders and pretending to be submissive, the boy smiled foolishly.
The girl placed her hands on her hips and pouted in exasperation.
"Weren't you just so brave and cool? Why are you acting all silly now? You look like a loser."
Ye Mingshang and Li Mengyu exchanged glances and laughed. "Shall we go too?"
"Yeah."
They went together to watch street performers, enjoyed candy figurines, visited an amusement park, and prayed at the local church.
The current temple was too dusty and chaotic; the church was much cleaner.
Although Ye Mingshang didn't like foreign sects, he had to admit that they had indeed developed to a certain extent that could no longer be stopped.
In the evening, the two walked hand in hand through the bustling streets, enjoying delicious snacks while happily chatting.
Suddenly, a beautifully dressed girl with striking features brushed past them.
Ye Mingshang suddenly stopped and glanced back.
"Did you notice?" Ye Mingshang asked.
"Yeah," Li Mengyu nodded.
"I've heard that the world is chaotic, and it seems to be true. If I’m not mistaken, that woman just now has probably already killed someone." As he said this, Ye Mingshang squinted his eyes. "And it was fresh blood."
"Should we intervene?" Li Mengyu asked.
Ye Mingshang shook his head. "The world is going to be chaotic; it's not something we can stop."
"And whether the world is chaotic or not has nothing to do with us."
Ye Mingshang's indifference made Li Mengyu feel a bit uncomfortable. She didn't understand why a man who could be so kind at times could also be so cold.
However, whether the world was in chaos or not, in her heart, nothing was more important than her man. No matter what decision Ye Mingshang made, she would silently support him.
Sure enough, they hadn't walked far when someone ahead screamed loudly.
"Ah! There's a dead person!"
The shout attracted the attention of many people.
People are naturally curious, and since it was evening in a bustling area, there were many people around. In no time, the alley was crowded with onlookers.
"Wait for me."
Not wanting Li Mengyu to squeeze in with others, Ye Mingshang instructed and then squeezed in himself.
He was not an ordinary person; instead of using physical strength to force his way through, he simply used his mental power to subtly suggest to those around him, allowing him to easily reach the front row.
In the dim light, it could be seen that not far down the alley, there lay a Dried Corpse.
The Dried Corpse was grotesque, as if all the blood had been drained from it, and its death was extremely tragic.
"Who is this? How did they die so horribly?" an older woman asked.
"Who knows? It's in such a state that you can't even recognize it. Oh, don't look anymore; it's quite frightening."
"I wonder who did this. How could someone end up like this? Did they use a pump to drain all the blood?" someone speculated wildly.
"Don't joke around. Do you think this is a horror novel? Using a pump to draw blood? You're overthinking it. If that were the case, why would they commit the crime in a busy street? I think this isn't necessarily a murder; it could very well be some strange illness."
"Strange illness? No way, I've never heard of any disease that would cause someone's blood to dry up."
"Have you gone over to check? How do you know if their blood has dried up? Maybe they had stomach cancer and became emaciated due to not eating for a long time?"
"But if they were that sick, would they still be out on the street?"
······
Before long, accompanied by the sound of sirens, a team of police officers hurried over in small steps.
"Make way, make way, police are investigating."
The police arrived, and many people stepped aside, but they did not leave far. They all wanted to see how the police handled the case, as they had nothing better to do.
After all, watching the excitement is in the nature of Chinese people.
At first, it was just like any normal investigation, collecting evidence, taking photos, and other trivial matters.
Some people gradually grew bored and yawned as they left.
However, most people remained idle; boredom was boredom, but since there was nothing else to do, they just watched.
Before long, a tall and imposing young man approached.
Ye Mingshang recognized him.
Wasn't he the young man seen during the day?
He wasn't wearing a police uniform but instead wore a black leather jacket similar to Ye Mingshang's.
This person seemed to hold an important position; as soon as he walked over, people made way for him.
Not just the police, but even ordinary bystanders automatically cleared a path for him, as if it had been rehearsed.
