The Child saw that the wild boar had not yet attacked and couldn't help but take a glance. To his surprise, the once fierce and frenzied boar suddenly rolled its eyes back, swayed a couple of times, and then fell heavily to the ground.
Step!
Step!
The crisp sound of footsteps approached, and a tall young man dressed in a black leather jacket walked over.
With a wave of his hand, accompanied by a Dragon Roar, the ink spear that had been deeply embedded in the giant rock in the distance easily drilled out and flew back into Ye Mingshang's hand.
"Are you okay?"
Looking at the strangely dressed man in front of him, the Child felt somewhat out of place and was momentarily stunned.
"How about you? Are you hurt?"
It wasn't until the man approached and bent down to ask him that he came to his senses and quickly shook his head.
"I'm not hurt, thank you."
He then glanced at the fallen wild boar and then at the ink spear in Ye Mingshang's hand.
"Did you save me just now?"
Ye Mingshang nodded noncommittally.
The Child hurriedly stood up and respectfully bowed.
"Thank you."
Ye Mingshang also smiled kindly, "You're welcome."
His compassion was not overflowing; the reason he acted and maintained such a friendly demeanor was mainly due to his feelings towards the people of Celestial Abode.
He knew these individuals were pure-hearted and kind. He had lived in Celestial Abode for several years in his past life, so he had some affection for them, even though he did not know this child.
In the dense, ancient forest, on a wide open path, there were two figures, one large and one small.
They were two wild boars, the larger one measuring over ten meters long and the smaller one three meters long.
However, upon closer inspection, it became evident that they were not walking on their own but were being dragged by someone.
In front were Ye Mingshang and the child, each pulling one of the boars.
"Uncle Ye, your outfit is so strange; it's different from ours," the child said, looking at Ye Mingshang with curiosity. He found the other's clothing intriguing because most of his tribe wore loose white garments or animal skins and robes; they did not have such black and fitted styles.
"That's because I'm from outside," Ye Mingshang replied cheerfully. "Cheng Yi," he added, referring to the child's name.
The child gasped in surprise, "Outside?! Uncle Ye is actually from outside?!"
"What's wrong? Hasn't anyone from outside ever come here?" Ye Mingshang asked in confusion. After all, Wang Sijin should have been able to provide him with clues indicating that someone had been here before.
Cheng Yi exclaimed, "No! Dad said that besides our tribe, no one else can come in."
No one else has come in?
That's strange; he hadn't encountered any obstacles on his way here.
As they walked, Cheng Yi glanced at Ye Mingshang with curiosity.
After some time, they could see some smoke rising in the distance, and the outline of a village began to appear.
"Uncle Ye, there's the village up ahead; we're almost there."
"Mm."
Ye Mingshang also looked at the village ahead, feeling both excited and anxious.
"I wonder if we'll run into someone we know."
"Huh? Does Uncle Ye know anyone here?"
Ye Mingshang muttered softly, not expecting the child to have such sharp hearing and catch his words clearly.
"There should be someone; I just don't know if I'll get to see them," Ye Mingshang replied with a smile.
"Oh!"
Cheng Yi found it a bit strange. "Isn't this your first time here, Uncle Ye? How could you know someone here?"
He was about to ask further when a hearty voice rang out nearby.
"Cheng Yi! Where have you been, you little rascal?! I've been waiting for you to eat, and now I'm starving!"
Cheng Yi stuck out his tongue and hurriedly set down the wild boar, running a couple of steps to stand in front of a man.
From a distance, Cheng Yi smiled awkwardly while the Sturdy Man seemed to be scolding him.
Glancing at the Wild Boar beside him, Ye Mingshang silently picked it up as well.
"You little brat, running around at mealtime! I've been waiting to eat and I'm starving because of you!"
The Sturdy Man slammed his fist lightly on Cheng Yi's head, looking forceful but actually being gentle enough not to hurt.
However, Cheng Yi still cooperatively covered his head and exclaimed that it hurt.
"Alright, as long as nothing's wrong. Hurry back to eat; your mom is getting anxious."
"Huh? Why aren't you leaving?"
The Sturdy Man was about to pull Cheng Yi away when he noticed that Cheng Yi was holding onto him, preventing him from leaving, which made him puzzled.
Cheng Yi recounted the danger he had encountered earlier and how Ye Mingshang had saved him.
"Oh?! Then you must properly thank him! You brat, how can you leave your lifesaver hanging like that? You little rascal!" As he spoke, the Sturdy Man gave Cheng Yi another light tap on the head.
In the meantime, Ye Mingshang had dragged over two wild boars, one large and one small. The Sturdy Man hurried over to take them and expressed his gratitude.
"Haha! Thank you, brother, for saving my Cheng Yi. This kid doesn't know better; please forgive him."
"Li Ge, you're too polite. Cheng Yi is quite sensible," Ye Mingshang replied with a smile.
The Sturdy Man was taken aback. "Huh? How do you know my last name is Li? Right, since you know my child is named Cheng Yi, you must know his last name too? Sons take after their fathers; you must have figured it out, haha!"
Ye Mingshang initially wanted to mention that he recognized him, but since he hadn't remembered, he decided to wait a bit longer before saying anything and just observe his expression later.
At this point, Ye Mingshang felt a sense of peace within himself and even thought about making a joke.
"Wife! We have guests at home; hurry up and prepare more dishes and bring out my old wine."
Soon after, a young woman who looked very graceful came out, holding a rice ladle in one hand while pinching the Sturdy Man's ear with the other.
"You deadbeat, what are you shouting about in broad daylight?!"
The Sturdy Man thought to himself, if not shouting during the day, would he shout at night instead? However, he kept begging for mercy.
"Don't be fooled by how fierce my dad looks; he's actually very afraid of my mom," Cheng Yi whispered to Ye Mingshang.
Ye Mingshang smiled lightly, surprised that the best hunter in the village, the object of admiration for many girls, would now be afraid of his wife.
"Mom."
Seeing his father giving him a signal, Cheng Yi hurried over and grabbed his mother's hand to act cute.
Upon seeing her son, the woman softened immediately and quickly squatted down, patting Cheng Yi repeatedly on his back.
"Cheng Yi, where have you been? Did you encounter any danger? Are you hurt? Are you hungry?"
Cheng Yi felt quite awkward with his mother's fussing and forced a smile.
"Mom, I'm fine. But I did encounter some danger today; it was that uncle who saved me." (To be continued.)
