In his mind, he recalled the scenes from the past...
"Why aren't you coming up? You can't possibly be unable to jump up here?!" A beautiful young girl stood atop a giant rock, looking down at the boy below.
"Who says that? How could this height be a challenge for me?!" The boy, unwilling to back down, exerted all his strength and jumped high into the air, leaving two footprints pressed into the ground.
"I got it!" The boy exclaimed with joy, but it was quickly replaced by panic—he was just a foot short! He couldn't reach...
"Ah!!!" Just as it seemed he would fall, a soft little hand caught him, smiling down at him. The girl's body blocked the sun, and sunlight radiated from all around. In that moment, she looked so beautiful; it felt eternal, as if he sensed something akin to love.
Shaking her head lightly with a smile, Ye Mingshang murmured, "Now, I can easily jump up there, but there will never be anyone again to hold my hand like that..."
Bitterness filled her heart, and sorrow weighed heavily on her mind. Yet her steps did not falter; she merely tapped her toes lightly and seemed to "fly" upward as if weightless, almost like strolling among the clouds.
The stone statue was tall; standing here allowed her to see nearly the entire village, though distant places were blocked by mountains.
With a soft sigh, she lightly tapped her feet as if a feather were dancing gracefully among the rocks, resembling a Celestial Being.
The walkway was built around the mountain in a unique manner. Though it had been carved and polished into a wooden bridge, it remained rooted in the mountainside, absorbing nutrients. Even after thousands of years without care, it had not decayed.
Her feet gently landed on the walkway. Above were many branches that dripped with a liquid that resembled water but was very slippery. Below her, several yards down, lay a sizable lake with crystal-clear water where fish and shrimp swam freely.
Memories flowed back...
"Be careful, it's very slippery here. My brother fell down last time," the girl reminded as she held onto the vine railing of the walkway and turned back.
The boy didn't want to show fear in front of the girl he liked. Although he was scared, he put on a carefree smile. "Don't worry, I'm really good at this. Just watch me. Hey~ hey~ ah!"
In his moment of pride, the boy slipped and rolled off the walkway. Below him was a lake.
At that moment, time seemed to slow down. A beautiful figure appeared to descend from the sky, her clothes fluttering gracefully, her lovely face just a short distance away from him.
Now walking on this walkway, he wouldn't be embarrassed to fall; with his current skills, even if it felt like the surface was coated in oil, it would be as easy as walking on flat ground for him. However, he wished so much that if he fell from here, there would be a girl to accompany him.
"If I jump down, will she appear...?"
He knew it was impossible, but he still wanted to try. He could have avoided it but deliberately slipped and let himself fall from the walkway. His eyes were fixed above, watching as the walkway grew farther away until with a "splash," he landed in the water, and not a single person accompanied him.
"Cough cough!" He emerged from the water, coughing up the lake water that had gone down his throat, feeling uncomfortable.
"Cough! So it really doesn't work..." After expelling the last mouthful of water, he looked up at the walkway that now resembled a thin line and felt a pang of disappointment in his heart.
"Chirp chirp!" A Blue Bird flapped its wings and circled around him.
"You little fellow are actually laughing at me," Ye Mingshang said with a smile.
The mountains and forests here were home to many wild beasts and deadly Carnivorous Plants, but they weren't as aggressive in this passageway. They only attacked other life forms when they needed to hunt for food.
A large Jungle Wolf passed by Ye Mingshang, merely glancing curiously at this novel creature before striding away, showing no intention of attacking.
Of course, nothing is absolute; not all creatures lack aggression. A massive black bear roared and charged forward, its footsteps causing the ground to tremble.
"Roar!"
The black bear bellowed as it swiped down with its paw. The bear was enormous, and just that one paw nearly covered half of Ye Mingshang's body.
"You are an interesting little bear," Ye Mingshang smiled.
Suddenly, the bear's expression froze, then turned to one of terror as it felt the world spin around it. When it landed again, it was already several dozen meters away.
Ye Mingshang had not harmed it; he had merely used a gentle force to send it flying.
Days and nights passed as Ye Mingshang explored every corner of the valley, searching through every fragment of memory. In those few days, it felt as if he relived his memories here once more. However, last time there were many people and much excitement; now he was alone.
"That's enough; it's time to go..." Ye Mingshang stood atop the highest peak, gazing at the paradise below, whispering softly.
The Celestial Abode is difficult to enter, requiring trials of life and death, but leaving is simple; one only needs to walk in the direction where the sun rises.
Out of nostalgia, Ye Mingshang sought out Luo Chenghui. After a few days, their subordinates had suffered heavy casualties. They had lost at least half their forces, and those who remained were nearly all injured; days and nights of battle had drained them completely.
"Sigh! I really don't know what we came here for. So many brothers have died, and in the end, we haven't seen anything," a thin man said while bandaging his arm.
"Everyone says the Celestial Abode holds the secret to immortality, but I think that's quite unlikely. The environment here is nice, and if one were to live here long-term, they might live to be a hundred," said a more reserved man as he cleaned his gun.
"Yeah, but that's assuming he can survive without being eaten by wild beasts," replied a thin man with a glance.
The group was nearly all injured, tending to their wounds while complaining to distract themselves from the pain.
"Sha!~ Sha!~" Footsteps approached, and a clean-looking young man walked over, looking immaculate and unfazed, as if he were strolling in his own backyard.
"Who is that?"
"Is it him?!"
"He looks so clean and isn't injured at all. How can there be such a difference between people?!"
...
Ignoring the envy and complaints of the crowd, Ye Mingshang walked straight up to Luo Chenghui. He didn't care how many people Luo had lost or whether the Black Widow and Feng Shui Master were dead. He simply offered a calm reminder.
"There is no Eternal Life Method here. If you want to leave, just walk towards the sun for a few days."
