"What is that?!" Joan instantly stood up and rushed outside, throwing a Spirit Talisman towards the rustling bushes.
"Urgent Order!"
With a whoosh, the Spirit Talisman flew by but didn't hit anything.
"That's strange; there was clearly some movement," Joan said, puzzled.
"What did you find, Joan?" the chubby guy asked as he chased after her.
"Nothing. I heard a noise just now, but when I came out, there was nothing," Joan frowned.
Suddenly, the bushes nearby shook again. "Quick, chase it!" Joan shouted as she grabbed another Spirit Talisman and ran after it.
Seeing Joan leave, the chubby guy hurriedly followed, worried that she might get into trouble alone. The two of them chased the rustling sound for about ten minutes, sweating profusely but still failing to catch sight of the mysterious "enemy."
Eventually, they reached the edge of a cliff. Below was a sheer drop of several hundred meters; falling from here would surely mean death without a trace.
Accompanied by a dragging sound, a shadow barely stopped at the edge of the cliff, knocking a few small stones down into the bottomless abyss.
"Ha! Ha!"
Joan arrived panting heavily and looked at the shadow. "Run! Keep running! If you have the guts, jump down! After chasing you for so long, let's see how Grandpa deals with you."
"Meow!" A sharp cat cry echoed back. In the moonlight, the shadow revealed itself. It was a wild cat the size of a wild boar, with severely matted fur. The skin on its face was rotting away, and half an eyeball dangled from its socket by blood vessels. White maggots wriggled on its face, and beneath the fallen fur lay large patches of white entrails.
"Gross! That's disgusting!" Joan exclaimed in disdain.
"Meow!"
The Zombie Cat seemed to understand her words and let out a mournful cry to express its displeasure. To be honest, it was hard to tell it was even a cat anymore; its body was so decayed that if it weren't for that childlike wailing sound, one wouldn't know what it was at all.
"Ah! The little fellow is quite bold, just watch me." Joan formed a hand seal, and two Spirit Talismans were thrown out. "Urgent Order!" As the incantation was completed, the Spirit Talismans, which were about to fall due to exhaustion, suddenly glowed brightly and charged towards the Zombie Cat as if they had been invigorated.
Whoosh!
The Spirit Talismans flew quickly, carrying magical energy and producing a sound like an arrow being released. However, while the Spirit Talismans were fast, the Zombie Cat was even faster, nimbly leaping aside to evade the attack.
"You dodged pretty quickly, but you're still far from enough. I haven't wasted my time these days." Joan smiled slightly and directly threw out a dozen more Spirit Talismans.
"Urgent Order!"
Buzz! The Spirit Talismans buzzed as dozens of yellow lights swiftly flew towards the Zombie Cat from various angles.
"Meow!"
The Zombie Cat let out an unhappy cry, its decayed body still agilely dodging each attack.
"Hmph! This is exactly what I wanted." Joan snorted coldly, pulling out a Jujube Dagger from her bosom. She bit her finger and began to draw on the blade while chanting, "Supreme Tai Xing, unceasing response, exorcise evil and bind spirits, Exorcism to subdue demons. Urgent Order!"
The Jujube Dagger trembled and then emitted a bright red light. Joan gripped the dagger with both hands and dashed towards the Zombie Cat.
"Die, beast!"
"Meow!!!"
Taking advantage of the Zombie Cat's evasion of the talismans, Joan thrust the dagger towards its head, aiming for its only weak spot. If it were an ordinary opponent, this might have been enough to finish them off. However, the Zombie Cat was not only agile but also seemed quite intelligent. At the moment the dagger approached, it forcefully twisted its body, causing the dagger to slide past its shoulder.
Sizzle!
As the red light passed by, a deep gash was carved into the Zombie Cat's shoulder, with smoke rising from the wound. The Zombie Cat's expression became much more serious, filled with deep apprehension.
Joan sneered contemptuously. "You beast, this Jujube Dagger is made from sunlit branches of jujube wood over a hundred years old. It's perfect for dealing with you zombies; why not surrender?"
Peach wood for Exorcism and jujube wood for subduing demons. The term 'demon' does not only refer to monsters but includes evil entities like corpses and spirits. Activated by human yang energy, these materials are powerful weapons against such Evil Entities.
After finishing her trick, Joan threw the Spirit Talisman to distract the Zombie Cat while occasionally seizing the opportunity to stab it with the Jujube Dagger, causing it to wail in pain. Whenever the Zombie Cat attempted to counterattack, Joan had already retreated far away, making it furious.
After a brief struggle, the Zombie Cat was already covered in wounds, with wisps of white smoke rising from its deep and long injuries.
"Ugh!" The Zombie Cat growled. Its eyes were filled with dread and fear as it looked at Joan. Suddenly, it glared and let out a loud cry as it charged towards her.
"Ha! Going all in, are we? Bring it on!" Joan chuckled lightly, flipping the Jujube Dagger in her hand and stabbing at the charging Zombie Cat.
Just as she was about to hit, the Zombie Cat darted past her with incredible speed. "Damn! It can feint too?!"
Joan cursed and turned to chase after it but saw the Zombie Cat flying back in agony, barely missing her as it zipped by.
"What the hell was that?! You scared me to death!" the Fat Man gasped, his left hand glowing with talisman energy and sparking with electricity.
It turned out that the Fat Man was too slow to catch up because of his weight. He couldn't use his sword box to fly and had been left far behind. Even after Joan had been fighting the Zombie Cat for a while, he hadn't arrived until the Zombie Cat feigned an attack and nearly crashed into him. The Fat Man quickly performed "Heaven and Earth Unbounded, Heaven and Earth Borrowing Technique," using his palm thunder against the Zombie Cat.
This strike sent out a foul smell of burnt flesh as it stared wide-eyed in disbelief before dying. It never understood why it had perished at the hands of this seemingly weak Fat Man. It was indeed unfortunate for it; its strength was not weak enough to wreak havoc on its own but encountered Joan, a skilled Real Person, and then collided with this peak Celestial Master. Although he didn't have his magical tools with him, his innate power was formidable enough that a single palm thunder was beyond what the Zombie Cat could withstand.
After dealing with the Zombie Cat, the two wrapped its corpse in large leaves and headed back. When they returned to Yizhuang, they were taken aback; a burly middle-aged man was already pinned beneath Ye Mingshang's foot, with two Zombies beside him that had talismans affixed to their faces, standing motionless.
