As an ordinary person, Zhi Mu is already quite outstanding. He is well-educated, consistently ranks at the top of his class, possesses a good temperament, and remains calm in any situation, able to face challenges with composure. He is hardly swayed by interests or desires; his will is strong, and he possesses nearly top-notch martial arts skills. More importantly, he is only twenty years old.
Such a person is almost perfect—talented in both literature and martial arts, composed and steady-minded. However, no one is flawless. While he excels in many areas, he is certainly not at the pinnacle because he spreads himself too thin. No matter how talented he is, he cannot become the greatest literary figure or the most powerful martial artist; he is more of a versatile talent. He resembles Liu Bei from the Three Kingdoms era—brave and resourceful, wise and courageous—but cannot match Zhuge Liang in strategy or Guan Yu and Zhang Fei in martial prowess.
Zhi Mu is determined to take Ye Mingshang as his master. After some thought, Ye Mingshang agrees because such elite talents are rare. Although Zhi Mu aims to surpass him, Ye Mingshang believes that Zhi Mu will be obedient before he can defeat him.
Upon hearing Ye Mingshang's agreement, Zhi Mu promptly kneels down and bows three times without feeling embarrassed. A true man knows when to bend and when to stand firm, and Zhi Mu does this quite well.
According to tradition, Zhi Mu should also serve tea to express his respect for his master. However, Ye Mingshang finds it troublesome and declines, opting for simplicity.
After a brief ceremony, Ye Mingshang and Zhi Mu head downstairs together. Zhi Mu shows great awareness as a disciple, respectfully following half a step behind Ye Mingshang, much better than that kid Joan.
Later on, when Joan learns that Ye Mingshang has taken on another disciple, he feels quite displeased and complains extensively. However, when Zhi Mu respectfully calls him "Senior Brother," Joan immediately adopts an elder's demeanor and nods at Zhi Mu with an air of superiority.
After Zhi Mu and Ye Mingshang agree on their morning training schedule, Zhi Mu leaves. Ye Mingshang goes out for a bite to eat and returns to find Joan and the Fatty watching adult films in their room. Not only are they watching, but they have the volume turned up so high that if it weren't for the soundproofing of the building, everyone would hear it.
These two are truly something else; they watch adult films with such seriousness that they even discuss what could be improved in the scenes. Seriously? Is this what they mean by viewing adult films with a critical eye?
"Can you two turn down the volume? The whole building can hear you," Ye Mingshang shouts at them as they engage in their academic discussion.
The Fatty shoots him a disdainful look. "What do you know? We are studying important intelligence from enemy nations. Knowing ourselves and our enemies ensures victory in every battle. Night Comrade doesn't even have this level of awareness?"
Joan adjusts his glasses and adds, "Exactly! The lagging of Island Nation films could lead to deteriorating Sino-Japanese relations."
Ye Mingshang can't help but admire their excuse. Only they could make watching adult films sound so sophisticated while claiming it affects international relations. And really? Adjusting your glasses? Do you even wear glasses?
School starts tomorrow; those who haven't arrived yet should be here soon. Ye Mingshang and his friends decide to go out together for some fun. This time they won't head to Old Ma's hotel; one shouldn't forsake simple pleasures for luxury.
Instead of calling everyone individually, he sends a voice message in their WeChat group inviting anyone who sees it to join them. In reality, there aren't many people; the Fatty and Joan will definitely go, Zhi Mu will probably join too, along with Haitang, Lin Qianqian, and her roommate. He doesn't invite those he's not particularly close with but ends up counting about a dozen people.
As for where to go for fun, there's no need to worry; among those invited is Luo Chenghui, who owns nearly all the major leisure venues in Nanjing City—there's no shortage of places to go!
Regarding expenses for this outing, Luo Chenghui waves his hand grandly and says confidently, "I've got this covered!" No wait! I mean I'll take care of these costs.
Around two in the afternoon, a group of people happily rode in the luxury car provided by Luo Da, heading to the amusement park. The chubby guy wanted to show off in front of the beautiful women and insisted on trying bungee jumping. However, after he jumped, the rope actually snapped... it snapped...
Fortunately, there was an artificial lake below, so he wasn't hurt. Instead, he was quite scared. The staff repeatedly apologized and promised compensation. The chubby guy didn't hold it against them since this amusement park belonged to Luo Zi; after all, the compensation money was essentially his.
After this scare, no one else dared to try bungee jumping, fearing they would experience free fall like the chubby guy. Joan couldn't help but tease from the side, "See? I told you to lose weight, but you didn't listen. Now look what happened; you broke the safety rope. How embarrassing."
The chubby guy got anxious upon hearing this. "Hey! What do you mean I broke the safety rope? I'm not even 180 pounds! I saw someone over 200 pounds jump without breaking it; how could I break it? Go play somewhere else."
They then went on the Ferris wheel and roller coaster, both thrilling rides. From below, they didn't seem too intense, but up high, the feeling was truly uncomfortable, like having one's brain blown by the wind.
Although these rides might be exciting for others, for Ye Mingshang, they were quite ordinary. He remained calm and expressionless throughout, receiving admiration from those who dared not ride.
Come on! He flew around on his beast at home; he had even ridden dragons before—why would he be afraid of this?!
However, the chubby guy's experience completely refreshed his understanding. These activities should have posed no pressure for someone like him who could fly with a sword. Yet, he couldn't help but vomit while in mid-air, spraying those behind him. The person behind him grabbed his neck and looked like they wanted to kill him.
Ye Mingshang looked disdainfully at the chubby guy who was bent over and vomiting. "Can't you have some dignity? You can fly with a sword without issue but can't handle a roller coaster?"
The chubby guy's face turned pale as he struggled to lift his head. "What do you know? Is there any comparison between these two? No way! If you're driving fast and don't throw up, but if you're in a car going fast, you'll throw up—right?!"
Ye Mingshang ignored him and walked away with a look of disgust. What? You think he's not loyal? Please—throwing up is no big deal; it might even help with weight loss. Besides, they were just friends who teased each other; caring words weren't what friends like them said.
Not bothering with the chubby guy anymore, Luo Chenghui arranged for someone to take care of him. Later, someone suddenly suggested going to the haunted house, claiming that it was very thrilling and felt real. Some girls initially resisted and said they didn't want to go, but under the coaxing of the boys, they reluctantly chose to enter.
The interior of the haunted house was very dark with dim lighting to enhance fear and create better scares. Just as they were about to enter, they turned around and saw Joan standing at the entrance with a terrified expression.
"Why aren't you going in?" Ye Mingshang asked.
Joan's face didn't look good. "I... I'm scared."
Ye Mingshang wanted to mock him—come on! You're a Taoist priest dealing with ghosts every day and you're scared of them?! Without further ado, Ye Mingshang pulled a few classmates along and dragged Joan inside. Joan struggled desperately and refused to go in; two boys grabbed his legs and pulled him while he clung to the doorframe for dear life, screaming as if he had really seen a ghost.
Ye Mingshang couldn't be bothered with him and called two classmates to join him as they all entered together. Just a few steps in, suddenly a floating white figure appeared before them. Ye Mingshang's eyes lit up—not out of fear but because this was a real ghost! Its power wasn't high; it was just a wandering spirit that could scare people.
Ye Mingshang curiously looked at Luo Chenghui, who smiled back and nodded slightly. It was clear that this ghost was arranged by him—probably something set up for the chubby guy's sake. No wonder they said the effects here were good; it turned out they were using real ghosts! How would those using props compete with that?
"Ah!"
"That's so scary."
"Let's get out of here, it's terrifying!"
The girls screamed in fear, and the boys were also a bit intimidated; after all, it was quite realistic. However, seeing the frightened girls who looked like startled Little Lambs, they couldn't help but show lewd smiles and deliberately moved closer to them, saying, "It's okay, don't be afraid. I'll protect you."
Luo Chenghui showed a playful smile at their behavior. Ye Mingshang guessed that there would probably be something even more intense coming up. With the chubby guy's skills, capturing an Evil Spirit or Vengeful Spirit wouldn't be difficult at all. Dealing with that level of ghost and creating a Ghost Wall or some Illusion would be incredibly easy for him.
After going through the haunted house, these little fellows were almost scared to faint. The boys stopped trying to act brave; their legs were still shaking. On the other hand, the girls remained calmer. After getting used to it at first, one brave girl even tried to reach out and touch something, only for her fingers to pass right through it, which scared everyone into running even faster.
"It's... it's fine. These are all 3D projection technologies, so they're realistic but not real," a student wearing Glasses said breathlessly as he adjusted his Glasses and gave Luo Chenghui a thumbs-up.
Luo Chenghui smiled lightly without explaining. If they knew that the ghosts inside were real, they would probably faint from fright.
Once they regained their composure, they found Joan at the entrance looking terrified and went together to see the chubby guy. He had been taken to the amusement park's medical room for care, and when they arrived, they saw him holding a nurse's hand and groping it randomly. "Beautiful lady, I see your marriage line is very wide. It seems you're destined to marry a chubby guy like me. What do you think?"
Damn it, can this guy have some decency? He can't stop himself from flirting with every girl he sees; now he's even hitting on the nurse! I seriously suspect he pretended to be sick just to see the nurse. Ye Mingshang thought about the chubby guy's usual behavior... well, it's quite possible.
