Yin Yang Demon Suppression
When you focus on something, time always seems to fly by. A single class often feels like it hasn't lasted too long. However, the lessons taught by the teacher are incredibly interesting, even the troublemakers and underachievers in class listen attentively.
"Alright, class. That's it for today. See you next time," the middle-aged teacher said with a warm smile as he bid farewell to the students.
"Ah!~" The students expressed their regret, wanting to keep the teacher talking for a while longer, but the teacher simply shook his head with a smile and left.
It wasn't that he was upset or unwilling to share more; rather, his classes were so popular that he had already faced some exclusion from other colleagues. If he extended the lesson any further, those Fellow would surely seize the opportunity to criticize him. Even if he intended to do good, there would always be someone ready to accuse him of wrongdoing. Sometimes, being too capable isn't necessarily a good thing.
"Ye... Hello, my name is Haitang, um... I..." Ye Mingshang was digesting the knowledge he had gained in class when a girl with a stylish student haircut appeared beside him.
The girl was about 1.65 meters tall and wore a blue uniform. When speaking to Ye Mingshang, she didn't dare to look up, keeping her head lowered and staring at her toes. Her fair hands tightly clutched the hem of her short skirt, and she seemed hesitant to speak.
"Hello, is there something you need?" Although interrupted, Ye Mingshang wasn't unhappy; he looked calmly at the shy girl in front of him.
"I... I, ah!~" Hearing Ye Mingshang's rich and magnetic voice made the girl even shyer but also somewhat delighted. After stammering for a moment as if summoning great courage to speak up, she raised her head to meet Ye Mingshang's serious gaze. His bright and clear eyes were fixed on her, causing her to shyly call out again.
Her reaction made Ye Mingshang furrow his brow slightly; nearby classmates turned their heads curiously upon hearing the sound. Seeing the girl standing shyly in front of Ye Mingshang, they quickly guessed what was happening.
In line with humanity's tradition of enjoying lively scenes, everyone stopped what they were doing to watch the two. Some who were farther away and didn't understand were reminded by those nearby.
"I thought what the teacher just taught was great, especially that story about treating wind-cold; it was particularly interesting... What's wrong?" A studious-looking boy with glasses and some acne was discussing course content with his deskmate when someone tapped him on the shoulder, prompting his confusion.
"Look over there; there's a good show." This was a shorter youth who looked like an underachiever; it seemed he was his close friend. He grinned lewdly and nodded toward Ye Mingshang.
Before long, all the students still in the classroom quieted down and turned their attention to the two main characters of the moment.
Feeling uncomfortable under so many gazes, Ye Mingshang frowned slightly and prepared to leave at any moment. Meanwhile, the shy girl Haitang became even more bashful under everyone's scrutiny, biting her lip as her fair hands continued to clutch at her dress.
"What do you need? No? Then I'm leaving," Ye Mingshang issued his final ultimatum; he didn't want to stand there any longer being stared at like a monkey.
"I, um..." The girl hesitated a bit, and Ye Mingshang sighed, packed his things, and was about to leave.
"Ye, do you have time this afternoon? Can I invite you to grab a drink?" Just as Ye Mingshang had pushed through a few people to the door, the girl's clear voice finally came out. Although she didn't directly confess her feelings for Ye Mingshang, anyone with normal intelligence and emotional understanding could tell.
"Um!!!~~"
"Ha!~"
The crowd immediately erupted into chatter, with a chorus of teasing sounds. Occasionally, bright whistles could be heard. Some boys looked at the girl in black with jealousy, while some girls excitedly covered their mouths.
"I have something to do this afternoon, so I can't," Ye Mingshang paused slightly before casually leaving those words and walking away without looking back.
Haitang tightened her grip. Being rejected felt terrible. This was her first time confessing to a boy; as a well-behaved girl, she had never thought much about romantic matters. With her sweet and cute appearance, she was admired by many boys, but she had turned down many confessions before. In the past, whenever she saw boys she rejected looking heartbroken, she thought they were foolish. Now that she had been rejected herself, she truly experienced that feeling for the first time—it was really painful...
The onlookers had mixed feelings; some felt disappointed while others felt relieved. Disappointed that a good match didn't come together, relieved that they still had a chance.
This sudden confession didn't stir much in Ye Mingshang's heart. Although he was young, his thoughts were stable, like an old man who had weathered many storms. It was also his first time being confessed to by a girl. Having grown up in an orphanage—though small in scale—the kind-hearted director treated everyone like children.
With the director's support, Ye Mingshang went to school. However, before he graduated, a disaster known as Inferno destroyed the entire orphanage. Although some children were injured, they all survived thanks to the director's desperate rescue efforts. Unfortunately, that kind old director left this world forever.
When Ye Mingshang first saw the charred body, he couldn't believe that the humanoid charcoal figure was the director who had been like a parent to him. Later on, the children from the orphanage were arranged to go to other orphanages; some good Samaritans came wanting to adopt them after hearing about what happened.
Originally, Ye Mingshang was adopted by a kind couple, but he didn't want to adapt to another new family. So he ran away and eventually was taken in by a monster and moved into the deep mountains.
Alright, maybe that's a bit off-topic. However, having been isolated from others since childhood meant he had never experienced a girl's confession before. It wasn't that he wasn't moved; it was just that the image of someone who appeared countless times in his dreams made it hard for him to accept.
After Ye Mingshang left, the people in the classroom dispersed. A few girls who were close to Haitang came over to comfort her. Some boys thought she needed a shoulder to cry on and tried to take advantage of the situation but were unceremoniously chased away by several girls.
Everyone had different opinions about Ye Mingshang after this incident. Some thought he was aloof; others called him tsundere or said he had high standards; there were even rumors that he was gay. Although there weren't many positive comments, those didn't matter much to him. He didn't care about such things.
Since it was still early, Ye Mingshang planned to return to his dormitory for a rest; in truth, he wasn't tired at all. He just needed something to pass the time because he still wasn't used to being around others for too long.
Time passes quickly when one is daydreaming, and it felt like no time had passed before it was lunchtime. During the meal, he saw Zhi Mu again, who was sitting by the window with a warm smile.
"Hi! Ye," Zhi Mu greeted enthusiastically as Ye Mingshang approached.
Ye Mingshang returned the greeting and sat down opposite him without hesitation. He liked this spot and didn't mind having lunch with Zhi Mu, whom he didn't dislike.
While eating, they chatted a bit. Zhi Mu asked why he hadn't accepted that girl. Ye Mingshang fell silent for a moment; he already had someone he loved. He wasn't willing to share more details, and Zhi Mu didn't press further.
After lunch, Ye Mingshang returned to his dormitory to sleep, which seemed lazy and not very healthy. However, he had been this way for a long time; he wasn't very enthusiastic about practicing. Even before reaching the peak of his magical abilities, he had been like this. Most of his time was spent sleeping, although his adoptive father often scolded him for it, he didn't care.
Despite this, his magical power continued to rise steadily, and he learned spells quickly. Even his strict adoptive father considered him a monstrous talent.
In sleep, one is often unaware of the passage of time. When Ye Mingshang woke up, he stretched comfortably and noticed it was already past four fifty. He remembered that Lin Qianqian was supposed to meet him at five.
"Answer the phone~ answer the phone~ answer the phone~" Just as he thought of this, Lin Qianqian's call came in.
"Brother Ye, are you in your dorm?" Lin Qianqian's sweet voice came through the phone.
"Yeah," Ye Mingshang replied lightly.
"Um, do you remember? You promised me yesterday that we would go meet my grandfather."
"Of course I remember."
"Shall we go now?"
"Sure."
"Okay, let's meet at the school gate."
After freshening up, Ye Mingshang went downstairs. When he arrived at the school gate, he did not see Lin Qianqian. He initially thought she had not arrived yet, but then he heard a few honks from a car.
Turning around, he saw a red sports car slowly approaching. A familiar figure was sitting in the driver's seat with the window down.
"Qianqian?" Ye Mingshang was slightly taken aback.
"Brother Ye, get in the car," Lin Qianqian said with a sweet smile.
After closing the car door, the vehicle slowly started moving. The engine roared like a beast, and even though Ye Mingshang didn't know much about cars, he could guess that this one was quite expensive.
"Is this your car?" Ye Mingshang asked.
"Yes, my dad gave it to me for my birthday last year," Lin Qianqian nodded.
"How come I've never seen you drive before?"
"We haven't met many times, have we? Each time we only saw each other at our destination. So of course, you wouldn't have seen me drive. Plus, I don't usually drive much."
Thinking about it, he realized that he had only met Lin Qianqian five times in total. The first time was at a hotel, the second time in a park, and the last two times were at restaurants. Indeed, there hadn't been an opportunity to see her driving.
