Yin Yang Demon Suppression
Dunkong was fighting joyfully, while Ye Mingshang was not idle either. Stepping on the heads of soldiers, he leaped repeatedly. Before long, he arrived beneath the high platform, looking up at the general who was flaunting his power. Ye Mingshang made a mighty leap and formed hand seals.
“Golden Fire Flourishes, Jiao Lian Yuan Shen. Internal Protection Form, External Demon Spirit. Urgent Order!” Fire overcomes gold; even the most ordinary Fire Bell Spell shone brilliantly in Ye Mingshang's hands. His intent stirred the crimson flames, swirling to form a drill-like existence.
“Die for me!” Ye Mingshang glared fiercely, pushing his right hand wrapped in Flame Drill forward with force. As the Flame Drill spun, fragments of the general's chest flew everywhere. The general stopped commanding, wanting to counterattack, but the distance was too short; no matter how he swung his great sword, he couldn't touch Ye Mingshang at all.
Just like a drill, once a point is broken through, expansion becomes much smoother. In just a few breaths, the once-mighty general had been reduced to countless fragments. Golden shards fell from the sky, signaling the end of this battle.
Indeed, without the general's command, the soldiers were thrown into disarray. It was as if they had lost their senses, attacking indiscriminately and often shattering their own comrades.
Avoiding the soldiers' line of sight, several people moved toward the next entrance. During this time, they discovered that the shattered soldiers were actually made of stone, merely coated with a layer of gold paint. It made sense; after all, even a kingdom would find it difficult to produce that much gold.
The subsequent passage was somewhat curved and sloped upward, likely leading to the next level.
In no time at all, they reached an exit. There was no chaotic terrain or numerous rooms on this floor. The second floor only had one large hall, which was not much larger than the first floor.
As they stepped out, they found that this level had only one hall; the only exit was the way they had entered.
“No way out?”
Just as they were puzzled, a rumbling sound echoed around them. The circular walls slowly rose, revealing a more expansive space. Considering that the first floor's corridors and numerous rooms already occupied a lot of space, along with that vast Training Ground, it was impossible for the second floor to be similar in size.
As the stone door opened, they did not immediately step forward. The first floor already had many Terracotta Warriors. Would the second floor be completely clear? The answer was certainly no. Soon after, a rustling sound approached. Then a dark mass surged in; upon closer inspection, it was enough to make one's scalp tingle. Those shadows were indeed various kinds of poisonous insects!
"Wow! Are you kidding me? This flavor is way too strong!" The usually calm Joan couldn't help but curse.
"Ugh!" Lao Ze, a person with a phobia of dense crowds, couldn't hold back and vomited.
Not just them, even Ye Mingshang and Dun Kong Fang Zhang had slightly uncomfortable expressions. Despite their overwhelming strength, they were not afraid of battling demons, but the sheer density of the Insect Tide was truly shocking. This had nothing to do with strength; any normal person would feel uneasy.
"The land god here has reached the highest spirit, ascending to the realm of the ethereal and descending into the underworld. I must not delay; I invoke the name Shangqing!" Seeing the Insect Tide approaching rapidly, Ye Mingshang immediately threw a handful of Six Emperor Coins according to the positions of the Five Elements Bagua, instantly enveloping everyone in a faint golden semicircular light curtain.
"Golden Fire Flourishes, Jiao Lian Yuan Shen. Internal Protection Form, External Demon Spirit. Urgent Order!" Standing at the edge of the light curtain, Ye Mingshang quickly formed seals and pressed the Fire Bell Spell to the ground. Immediately, a semicircular Fire Sea spread out from in front of Ye Mingshang, incinerating a large number of insects.
However, his brows did not relax at all because as soon as he burned away a batch of insects, even more swarmed in to replace them. In comparison to the terrifying numbers of the Insect Tide, these deaths had no effect whatsoever.
"Damn it! Is this how it ends?" Joan angrily threw out several Fire Bell Spells, but his small flames also struggled to make an impact.
Ye Mingshang said nothing; although the number of insects was astonishing, it was clear that fire attacks were effective. He hesitated no longer and pulled out a handful of Fire Bell Talismans from his pocket and threw them out. One by one, the Yellow Talismans ignited into roaring flames under Ye Mingshang's magical influence, forming fireballs as large as a Daoist's head. Each fireball that fell could crush and incinerate thousands of insects, and the flames spreading out could wipe out entire swathes. The smell of roasted insects wafted through the air, making one's stomach churn.
However, even so, that seemingly endless Insect Tide continued to surge forward. They fearlessly charged towards the flames; after losing a large number of their kind, they managed to extinguish the fire. Unfortunately, while these insects were afraid of fire, their bodily fluids could not ignite; otherwise, with just a few spells, this place would have turned into a Fire Sea.
Joan gritted his teeth as if making a significant decision. "Master! Please let the immortal possess you!"
"No way; it's not time yet," Ye Mingshang replied indifferently, his face regaining its calmness.
"But..." Joan hesitated to continue.
Old Ma glanced over and was about to speak but was interrupted by Ye Mingshang. They looked at Ye Mingshang and Dunkong's calm faces and couldn't understand why they remained so composed. In such a situation, they even doubted whether summoning an immortal would solve anything. What gave them such confidence?
Ye Mingshang looked at the dark Insect Tide, his expression calm. Although many insects had already crawled onto the barrier, gnawing away at its magical power bit by bit, it wouldn't be long before the barrier was completely consumed. At that point, they would be like meat on a chopping board, with no right to resist.
"Dun Kong Master, it's your turn," Ye Mingshang said lightly without turning around.
Dunkong nodded and immediately sat cross-legged with his hands together.
"Namo Dharma Ye, Namo Sangha, Namo Shakyamuni Buddha, Namo Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva, Namo Puan Patriarch Bodhisattva, Namo Million Fire Lord Vajra Bodhisattva..." Dressed in white, Dunkong sat cross-legged, his body radiating golden light. As he chanted, a golden Buddha figure appeared behind him, exuding an incomparably sacred aura.
With each utterance of Buddha's Voice, the Insect Tide on the barrier began to fall off in droves. They ignited spontaneously, and the area around the barrier instantly became a Fire Sea.
Wiping the sweat from his forehead, Joan realized, "No wonder they aren't nervous; it turns out Dun Kong Fang Zhang has such a powerful move."
Old Ma also breathed a sigh of relief but felt a strange thought in his heart. With such a formidable technique, why hadn't it been used earlier? It nearly scared him into a heart attack.
"????????????????????ye???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????uhusa?????????????..." After reciting the Chinese version of the sutra, an obscure and difficult-to-understand sound of Sanskrit began to resonate.
Suddenly, more insects began to burn with shrill cries. The area around the barrier continued to expand into a vacuum zone within five meters.
Although there was a trend of exterminating the insects, the heat from the flames and the smell of roasted insects tormented their nerves. However, compared to being bitten to death by these insects, this level of torment was still bearable.
The vast hall echoed with sounds as waves of chanting intensified. Gradually, the insects behind also began to ignite. The entire hall was engulfed in a Fire Sea, with air distorted by the heat. Fortunately, the materials used for the hall's construction were special; otherwise, it might have collapsed by now.
After about a quarter of an hour passed and countless insects met their demise one after another, the Insect Tide was finally eradicated. Clusters of crimson flames burned brightly, signaling the end of the battle.
After waiting for several more minutes under the burning flames until the Insect Tide was nearly extinguished, only a few small flames remained flickering as if trying to burn away the last remnants of evil.
Ye Mingshang wiped the sweat from his forehead and sighed, "Indeed, compared to the external fire brought by talismans, the effect of burning the inner karmic fire is much more significant." He felt somewhat fortunate that he had sent a message to Dunkong in time; otherwise, these Insect Tides might have caused him to capsize.
"Amitabha! Sending countless beings to the Pure Land increases this Poor Monk's Merit..." Dunkong said with a slight bow and a sigh.
Ye Mingshang twitched his mouth; this monk always managed to look like a savior while taking lives, which left him speechless. However, he became friends with him precisely because he was unconventional and good at breaking rules.
Removing the protective barrier, Ye Mingshang put away the Six Emperor Coins. Unlike the cheap Five Emperor Coins, each Six Emperor Coin was a treasure. They were often priceless, and it was rare for someone like him to use them in exchange; others would cherish even one.
"Zii!" As soon as he stepped out of the barrier, white smoke rose up from beneath his feet, causing Joan to jump up in surprise. However, his other foot got burned as well, leading him to comically hop around.
"Pfft! Hahaha!" Old Ma couldn't help but burst into laughter.
Even the usually calm Ye Mingshang and Dunkong couldn't help but smile.
"Just stick this on your shoes, and you'll be fine." Ye Mingshang tossed two talismans aside and left first. Dunkong followed suit, chanting a Buddhist mantra as he departed.
Old Ma looked at the unremarkable talismans and scratched his head before sticking one on his shoe. To his surprise, stepping on the scorching floor only felt slightly hot, which reassured him. After giving a talisman to the hopping Joan, he hurried after them.
Joan looked at the talisman that Old Ma had forced into his hand and then at the three who were walking freely. He stuck the talisman on his chest, but it still felt hot. Seeing that they had already walked far ahead, he hurriedly shouted and chased after them.
