Yin Yang Demon Suppression
It is likely that the Flying Zombie, Nie Jin, did not expect that Ye Mingshang was already exhausted at that time; otherwise, he would have surely fought back. If that were the case, the people in the village would probably have all died...
Thinking of this, Ye Mingshang felt a bit of fear. No matter how strong the opponent was, Ye Mingshang had always dealt with them easily. There were rarely any who gave him a headache, which had fostered his proud and arrogant personality. He had thought that apart from demons of the level of the Four Great Holy Kings, he could easily handle everything else. Now it seemed he was completely wrong.
Just the Flying Zombie, Nie Jin, had made him exhausted to the point of fainting; not to mention there seemed to be a Master behind Nie Jin! If he continued to be so arrogant, he might end up in deep trouble.
"Then, Master, what should we do next? Should we attack?" Joan asked.
Ye Mingshang shot him a glance. "We couldn't even keep him with the traps we set up. Are we going to charge into his territory and seek death?"
Joan scratched his head and smiled brightly.
"Should we notify the three major sects?" Old Ma stroked his chin.
"No need; I've already called for help," Ye Mingshang shook his head.
"Help? When?" Old Ma and Joan were both taken aback.
Ye Mingshang had only separated from them briefly when resting at the village chief's house. However, given Ye Mingshang's character and confidence in his abilities, it was unlikely he would call for help just because of a Zombie. The only possibility would be when Nie Jin evolved into a Flying Zombie; but even then, Ye Mingshang still did not take him seriously. It must have been after hearing about Nie Jin's Master that he realized he might not be able to handle such a terrifying figure capable of taming a Flying Zombie.
Although Old Ma wasn't particularly clever, he had lived long enough to have rich experiences in the martial world. After a moment of thought, he grasped the implication; the question was how Ye Mingshang had contacted them. Did he make a phone call? He hadn't seen him do that, and there probably wasn't an opportunity for a call at that time.
"When I realized I couldn't keep Nie Jin, I had already sent out a notification." Ye Mingshang extended his palm, and with a surge of magic power, a light golden '卍' symbol appeared.
Seeing this mark, Old Ma suddenly understood; it turned out he had left a magical imprint with that Expert. This imprint could convey simple intentions through magical power; it was indeed a Buddhist seal, likely from a master of Buddhist teachings. Ye Mingshang's Buddhist skills must have originated from this.
"What is this? What's going on?" Joan looked at Old Ma's bewildered expression and scratched his head in confusion.
Well, it was understandable that Joan, who barely reached Sage level and was young without Old Ma's extensive experience in the martial world, didn't know many things. After Old Ma explained it to him, Joan finally dispelled his doubts.
"I don't know which Buddhist master it is, but since Senior Brother Ye values him highly, he must be quite capable. With his assistance, this endeavor should go more smoothly," Old Ma nodded.
"Looking at the time, he should be arriving soon."
As soon as the words were spoken, the Old Village Chief knocked and walked in. He was pleased to see Ye Mingshang awake and offered a few words of comfort, saying, "Master Ye, there is a monk downstairs who is your friend."
"Yes, I invited him to help. Let him come up. No, I should go down," Ye Mingshang initially thought to have the village chief call him up. However, after considering it, he felt it was inappropriate and decided to go downstairs to greet him personally.
"Amitabha! No need for Master Ye to trouble himself; the Poor Monk has already arrived." A voice recited a Buddhist chant as a monk in his sixties entered wearing white robes.
"Dun Kong Master!" Ye Mingshang joined his hands together in a gesture of respect.
"You! You are actually Dun Kong Master?!" Old Ma's eyes widened in disbelief.
"The benefactor is polite," Dunkong nodded in acknowledgment.
Seeing Ye Mingshang so respectful, Old Ma was also shocked. Only Joan looked confused; who was this monk? Was he really that impressive? It was one thing for Old Ma to react this way, but why was Master also so humble? Could he be even more powerful than Master?
"Hey~ hey!" Joan tugged at Old Ma's sleeve.
"What is it?" Old Ma glared at her.
"Who is this monk? Is he more powerful than my master?" Joan whispered with her hand cupped around her mouth near Old Ma's ear.
Before Old Ma could respond, Dunkong proclaimed another Buddhist chant, "Amitabha... Poor Monk Dunkong from Qingyun Temple greets you."
Joan had actually spoken quite loudly earlier, but Dunkong's senses were unusually sharp and he clearly heard Joan's question.
"The master is polite." Perhaps influenced by Dunkong, Joan also offered her greeting.
"Dun Kong Master is the Abbot of Qingyun Temple, with profound Buddhist teachings; he is an extraordinary expert who does not engage with the mundane world," Old Ma briefly introduced.
"So he's that impressive! I wonder how he compares to my master?" Joan pondered.
"This..." Old Ma had never encountered a master of this level going all out, and he didn't know how to respond.
"Amitabha! If your master is Master Ye, then when it comes to Exorcism, we are indeed five hands in number," Dunkong spoke to dispel the doubts of the two.
"So strong!" both of them marveled inwardly. Monks do not speak falsehoods; since he said so, it must be true.
With their hearts set at ease, having a master with strength comparable to Ye Mingshang's assisting them made the task of eliminating the Flying Zombie and Nie Jin seem effortless.
"Amitabha! I wonder why you have summoned me here?"
"Let me explain. The situation is like this..."
Old Ma summarized his lengthy explanation: he had received a mission regarding a large number of livestock deaths in this area and suspected something foul was at play. He got in touch with Dunkong through an introduction. Later, he inadvertently discovered that zombies were appearing here and, knowing he lacked the strength to deal with them, contacted Ye Mingshang.
Originally, the plan was to lure the zombies into a trap for extermination, but unexpectedly, Ye Mingshang experienced a sudden surge in power. Eventually, Ye Mingshang and the Flying Zombie ended up injuring each other and scared off the Flying Zombie.
However, this Flying Zombie was a great general from the Ming Dynasty, and there seemed to be another Master above him. The two of them lacked combat power, and relying solely on Ye Mingshang would likely be difficult. Thus, they sought Dunkong's assistance.
"Amitabha! I did not expect such evil spirits to exist in the wilderness. Fortunately, no lives have been lost; good! Good!"
Afterward, they discussed strategies and ultimately decided that Ye Mingshang and Dunkong would take the lead to attack Nie Jin's lair in the mountains. As for Joan and Old Ma, they would accompany them as helpers and could call upon divine aid in times of crisis.
"Since that's settled, Joan and I will go prepare some things. You two rest well; tonight we will enter the mountains," Old Ma said as he stood up.
Then Ye Mingshang removed his IV needle and went downstairs with Dunkong to eat something before closing his eyes to meditate.
"Not good! The zombie is back!" The loud noise immediately jolted both of them from their meditation.
At that moment, a villager rushed in with a terrified expression on his face.
"Masters! It's bad! That zombie has returned and has taken several people!"
"What!"
The two hurried out the door, but they couldn't find any trace of the Flying Zombie, not even a hint of its presence.
"Strange, why can't I sense any corpse aura?" Dunkong asked, puzzled.
"Maybe it used some kind of trick. It seems we must head out immediately," Ye Mingshang frowned.
Soon after, Old Ma and Joan rushed over, panting heavily.
"No, it's bad..."
"We already know; there's no time to waste. We need to go into the mountains right away," Ye Mingshang interrupted.
Time was of the essence, and there were few of them. Old Ma went to get his car; it was still a bit of a distance from the village to the mountain where Nie Jin was last seen, so driving would be faster.
"We can only walk from here. There are very few people who come up this mountain, and there’s no road for vehicles," Old Ma said as he parked at the foot of the mountain.
"Okay."
The mountain path was difficult to traverse, but fortunately, Ye Mingshang had lived in the mountains for many years, so this kind of terrain was no different from flat ground for him. Dunkong, although older, had a solid foundation and showed no signs of fatigue on the mountain path. Joan was younger and not as fast as Ye Mingshang or Dunkong, but she kept up well enough. However, Old Ma lacked exercise and was older; he was already panting after a short distance.
"This way," Ye Mingshang led the way. He knew from his previous encounter with Nie Jin that he couldn't keep him contained, so he left a mark on Nie Jin. He could sense the other's location through secret methods.
After about ten minutes of walking, Ye Mingshang stopped and pointed at the ground ahead. "It's right here!"
"Ah? Underground?"
"Yes, there should be a tomb down below," Ye Mingshang nodded.
"But how do we get down there?" Joan asked with a worried expression.
Ye Mingshang ignored him and instead looked at Dunkong, who stepped forward with hands clasped together, chanting, “Amitabha! Avalokiteshvara perceives all illusions and fantasies…”
As Dunkong recited, the piece of land that Ye Mingshang had pointed to began to twist and dissipate, ultimately transforming into a pit with a diameter of two meters.
“So it was an illusion,” Joan said, looking enlightened, but then paused in realization. “Wait, what if someone walks off into it?”
“This should be the ‘Truth Within Falsehood,’” Old Ma said, frowning as he stroked his chin.
“‘Truth Within Falsehood’? What is that?”
“It is said that within Illusion, there exists a profound method that can deceive the Dao and materialize the illusions. It is also known as the Creator-like ability.”
“Ah?! So doesn’t that mean one could be like a deity? Just wish for something and it appears?”
“It’s not that simple. Deceiving the Dao is no easy task. Materializing an Illusion requires magical power; without it, not only does the materialization vanish, but the magical power will also disappear. Moreover, if one uses this ability to cause harm and gets discovered by the Dao, they will face severe consequences!” Although Old Ma was not particularly strong, his extensive knowledge from various studies made him quite insightful.
“Amitabha! Time is of the essence; we must prioritize saving people.”
The group exchanged glances, and Dunkong entered first, followed by Old Ma and Joan. Ye Mingshang stayed back to prevent any unexpected situations.
