It turned out that Jijun was the boy who had given her candy in front of her father's grave all those years ago. How could this be? How could it be him? Li Xiaolu felt a tightness in her throat, and tears streamed down her face uncontrollably. 0

She turned to leave, but suddenly bumped into someone. It was Zhao Shu. 0

Zhao Shu stared at Li Xiaolu for a moment before asking, "Are you crying?" 0

Li Xiaolu quickly wiped her tears away. "No." 0

Zhao Shu scoffed, "I can see that you are." 0

Li Xiaolu didn't want to engage with her and tried to walk past. 0

Zhao Shu blocked her path and coldly asked, "Did you break up with Jijun?" 0

Li Xiaolu looked at her. "Why would I break up with him?" 0

Zhao Shu paused for a moment, then sneered, "Looks like I hit the nail on the head." 0

Li Xiaolu took a deep breath. "Why did you curse me to break up with Jijun?" 0

Zhao Shu replied coldly, "Because you two simply don't deserve each other." 0

Li Xiaolu couldn't help but laugh. "We don't deserve each other? What about you? Do you deserve him?" 0

Zhao Shu's expression stiffened. 0

Li Xiaolu continued, "I didn't expect you to still have feelings for Jijun." 0

Zhao Shu bit her lip. "I don't." 0

Li Xiaolu smirked. "Whether you do or not, you know in your heart." 0

Zhao Shu glared at her fiercely. "If it weren't for you and Jijun, he would have been with me long ago." 0

Li Xiaolu was taken aback. "What did you just say?" 0

Zhao Shu said, "Jijun and I were originally a couple; he broke up with me because of you." 0

Li Xiaolu was shocked. Zhao Shu had actually dated Jijun? Why had she never known about this? 0

Li Xiaolu struggled to maintain her composure. "How did you end up with Jijun?" 0

Zhao Shu looked at her defiantly. "Why should I tell you?" 0

Li Xiaolu replied, "If you won't tell me, then I'll just ask Jijun." 0

Zhao Shu smiled and said, "Are you going to ask him? Do you think he will tell you?" 0
Li Xiaolu frowned, "What do you mean by that?" 0
Zhao Shu replied coldly, "He shattered his watch for me." 0
Li Xiaolu's heart sank. 0
Zhao Shu continued, "That watch was left to him by his mother." 0
Li Xiaolu felt as if she had been struck by lightning. 0
She suddenly remembered that Jijun had told her before that his watch was very important because it was a gift from his mother. 0
But out of her stubbornness, she had made him break it. 0
So it was because of Zhao Shu? 0
Li Xiaolu's eyes turned red. 0
Zhao Shu scoffed, "So, now you know?" 0
Li Xiaolu closed her eyes and took a deep breath, "What does it matter that I know?" 0
Zhao Shu laughed, "Aren't you angry?" 0
Li Xiaolu replied, "Why should I be angry?" 0
Zhao Shu said, "Because Jijun betrayed you." 0
Li Xiaolu shook her head, "He didn't betray me." 0
Zhao Shu scoffed again, "You really are pitifully naive." 0
Li Xiaolu coldly responded, "I am not pitiful." 0
Zhao Shu retorted, "Just keep pretending to be clueless." 0
With that, she turned and walked away. 0
Li Xiaolu stood frozen in place, feeling icy all over. 0
Zhao Shu was right. 0
She was indeed foolish. 0
Foolishly pitiful. 0
She had always thought that her relationship with Jijun was solid. 0
But it turned out that from the very beginning, it had been a deception. 0
And she was the one who had been deceived. 0
Li Xiaolu couldn't help but recall the scene of her first meeting with Jijun. 0
It was the third year since she came to Los Angeles. 0
That day marked the anniversary of her father's passing. 0

She went to her father's grave to pay her respects. When she arrived at the tombstone, she saw a young man standing there. He was very handsome, dressed in a suit, and appeared mature and composed. She felt scared and couldn't help but ask, "Who are you?" 0

He smiled at her and said, "Don't be afraid, I am a friend of your father." 0

Li Xiaolu was surprised. "A friend of my father?" 0

He nodded, "Yes." 0

Li Xiaolu asked, "Are you Chinese too?" 0

He smiled again, "Yes, I am also Chinese." 0

Unable to contain her curiosity, Li Xiaolu asked, "What is your name?" 0

He replied, "My name is Jijun." 0

Li Xiaolu couldn't help but ask, "Jijun? Which Jijun?" 0

He smiled at her and said, "The 'Ji' from 'auspicious'." 0

Li Xiaolu was taken aback. The 'Ji' from 'auspicious.' It was the first time she had heard someone explain their name like that. 0

She couldn't help but ask, "What are you doing here?" 0

Jijun said, "I came to see your father." 0

Li Xiaolu asked, "Do you know my father?" 0

Jijun nodded, "Yes." 0

Li Xiaolu asked again, "What is your relationship with my father?" 0

Jijun looked at her and remained silent for a long time before slowly saying four words, "We are family." 0

Li Xiaolu was stunned. Family? What did that mean? She wanted to ask more questions, but Jijun had already left. She had no choice but to bury her confusion deep inside. 0

Later, when she visited her father's grave again, she did not encounter that young man anymore. Li Xiaolu couldn't help but think that perhaps it was just a dream. But today, she realized that it was not a dream. 0

But it was something that had really happened. 0

It turned out that Jijun had known her identity all along. 0

He had been deceiving her the entire time. 0

Li Xiaolu felt a pain so intense that she could hardly breathe. 0

She never expected that the man she had loved for so many years had been lying to her. 0

Li Xiaolu wiped her tears and turned to walk into the party restroom. 0

She closed the door and couldn't help but start gagging. 0

Her stomach was churning, and she felt extremely uncomfortable. 0

She pressed her hand against her chest and slowly squatted down on the floor. 0

Tears fell down in large drops. 0

She was truly in so much pain. 0

She really regretted it. 0

If she had known the ending would be like this, she would have preferred to never have met Jijun at all. 0

Li Xiaolu cried for a long time before finally calming down. 0

She stood up, walked to the mirror, and looked at her pale face and bloodshot eyes reflected back at her. 0

She couldn't help but wonder if it was time for her to wake up a little? 0

She was no longer that little girl. 0

She had grown up. 0

She should learn to protect herself now. 0

Li Xiaolu took out a tissue and wiped away the tears from the corners of her eyes. 0

She washed her face and touched up her makeup. 0

Turning around, she walked calmly out of the restroom. 0

She wiped away her tears, straightened her back, and exited the party venue. 0
