Jijun drove Li Xiaolu home, and after they said their goodbyes, Li Xiaolu went upstairs to take a shower and sleep. The next day, she woke up to find it was already nine o'clock in the morning. She hurriedly got out of bed, freshened up, and then left for work.
She is currently a designer at her company. Although her position is not very high, the salary is decent. She had considered resigning before, but given her limited work experience, she decided it would be better to stabilize her situation for a while longer.
As soon as she walked into the office, her colleague Xiao Wang called out to her. "Li Xiaolu, someone is looking for you," Xiao Wang pointed towards the break area.
Li Xiaolu followed her finger and saw a man in a black suit sitting on the sofa, engrossed in a magazine. She didn't recognize him, so she walked over and politely asked, "Hello, may I ask who you are?"
The man looked up from his magazine upon hearing her voice. He had a handsome face with deep-set features and sharp contours; his gaze was piercing and profound. "Hello, I am Liu Yu," he said calmly.
Li Xiaolu was taken aback; she hadn't expected this man named Liu Yu to come looking for her. "Hello, is there something you need?" Li Xiaolu asked.
Liu Yu looked at her and remained silent for a moment before saying, "I would like to invite you for a cup of coffee."
Li Xiaolu felt a bit puzzled. "Why?"
Liu Yu smiled slightly. "There's no special reason; I just want to invite you for a cup of coffee."
Li Xiaolu hesitated for a moment but eventually agreed. "Okay, wait for me a moment; I'll put my things down and then go with you," she said.
Liu Yu nodded. "Sure."
Li Xiaolu returned to her office, set down her belongings, and then followed Liu Yu out of the company. There was a café nearby, and they walked in and found a window-side table to sit down at.
"Two cups of coffee, please," Liu Yu said to the waiter.
The waiter nodded and turned to leave.
Li Xiaolu looked at Liu Yu and asked, "Mr. Shen, is there something you wanted to talk to me about?"
Liu Yu looked at her, paused for a moment, and then said, "I heard you work at Tan Group."
Li Xiaolu nodded, "Yes."
Liu Yu looked at her and asked, "How's the job?"
Li Xiaolu smiled, "It's pretty good."
Liu Yu looked at her and suddenly asked, "Do you like Jijun?"
Li Xiaolu was taken aback; she didn't expect Liu Yu to ask that question out of the blue. She stared at Liu Yu for a moment before saying, "Mr. Shen, I don't understand what you mean."
Liu Yu looked at her and said, "I just want to remind you that Jijun is not a simple person."
Li Xiaolu furrowed her brow, "What do you mean?"
Liu Yu looked at her and said, "I just want to tell you that Jijun is not as straightforward as he seems; it's best if you keep your distance from him."
Li Xiaolu scoffed, "What does it matter to you who I date?"
Liu Yu looked at her and remained silent for a moment before saying, "I just don't want you to get hurt."
Li Xiaolu said dismissively, "Who are you to tell me what to do?"
Liu Yu looked at her and after a moment of silence said, "I am your cousin."
Li Xiaolu was stunned; she widened her eyes in surprise as she looked at Liu Yu.
"You... you say you're my cousin?" Li Xiaolu asked incredulously.
Liu Yu nodded, "Yes."
Li Xiaolu looked at him and suddenly laughed, "How is that possible? How could I have a cousin?"
Liu Yu looked at her and said, "I know it's hard for you to accept, but it's the truth."
Li Xiaolu shook her head, "That's impossible; you must be mistaken."
Liu Yu looked at her and said, "I am not mistaken; you are indeed my cousin."
Li Xiaolu stared at him, momentarily unsure of what to say. Her parents had passed away long ago, and she had lived alone since childhood, never having heard of any cousins.
"I know this is hard for you to accept, but you are truly one of us," Liu Yu said.
Li Xiaolu looked at him and asked, "Do my parents know?"
Liu Yu shook his head. "They do not know."
Li Xiaolu fell silent for a moment before saying, "Then why should I believe you?"
Liu Yu looked at her and replied, "You can choose not to believe me, but I hope you can stay away from Jijun."
Li Xiaolu gazed at him without speaking.
"He is not the person you think he is," Liu Yu said.
After a moment of silence, Li Xiaolu responded, "I understand. I will consider it."
Liu Yu looked at her and said, "I will wait for your news."
Li Xiaolu nodded. "Okay."
