That night, the two of them lay on the same bed. 0
Zhang Lin suddenly asked, "Li Xiaolu, why are you so obsessed with money?" 0
Li Xiaolu thought for a moment and replied, "Maybe it's because my family was not well-off when I was a child." 0
Zhang Lin fell silent for a moment. "I remember you told me before that your parents divorced when you were very young." 0
Li Xiaolu said lightly, "Yeah, at that time my mom raised me alone, and life was tough." 0
Zhang Lin sighed, "No wonder you're so independent." 0
Li Xiaolu smiled, "There's nothing wrong with being a little independent." 0
Zhang Lin looked at her and said, "But you're a bit too independent." 0
Li Xiaolu chuckled, "I just don't want to be a burden to others." 0
Zhang Lin asked, "Then why don't you try accepting help from others?" 0
Li Xiaolu fell silent for a moment and replied, "I just... I'm not used to it." 0
Zhang Lin sighed again, "You really are a stubborn person." 0
Li Xiaolu smiled, "That's just how I am." 0
Zhang Lin looked at her and asked, "So if one day you meet someone you like, would you change for him?" 0
Li Xiaolu thought for a moment and said, "If I really meet someone I like, I think... I would change for him." 0
Zhang Lin nodded, "Then I hope you meet that person soon." 0
Li Xiaolu smiled and said, "I hope so too." 0
Suddenly, Zhang Lin remembered something. "By the way, if you really start dating someone, you must tell me. I'll help keep an eye on things." 0
Li Xiaolu couldn't help but laugh. "Why do you need to help me keep an eye on things?" 0
Zhang Lin looked at her seriously and said, "I'm afraid you'll be deceived by men." 0
Li Xiaolu laughed and replied, "Don't worry; I won't be fooled." 0
Zhang Lin sighed again, "You really are too naive." 0

Li Xiaolu smiled and said, "What's wrong with being simple?" 0
Zhang Lin looked at her and replied, "Simplicity makes one vulnerable." 0
Li Xiaolu fell silent for a moment. 0
Zhang Lin continued, "I know you treat your boyfriend very well, but he doesn't appreciate it at all." 0
Li Xiaolu said lightly, "He has already been punished." 0
Zhang Lin was taken aback. "What punishment?" 0
Li Xiaolu chuckled, "It's nothing; anyway, he has already been punished." 0
Zhang Lin sighed, "Forget it, let's not talk about this anymore." 0
Li Xiaolu looked at her and nodded. 0

Two days later, Li Xiaolu returned to the United States. 0
As the plane was about to take off, she couldn't help but take out her phone and open WeChat. 0
She glanced at it and found that no one had contacted her. 0
She then opened her Moments and saw that Jijun's page was completely empty, with nothing posted. 0
She couldn't help but feel curious and a bit amused. 0
Her understanding of him was limited to just his name. 0
She didn't even know what he did for a living, how old he was, or if he had a girlfriend. 0
Her entire knowledge of him consisted solely of his name. 0
She wondered if he was intentionally not updating his Moments. 0
After all, she really knew too little about him. 0
The flight attendant reminded her to turn off her phone, and she hesitated for a moment but did not delete their chat conversation. 0
She didn't want to delete it. 0
She felt that they would no longer have any connection. 0

Several hours later, the plane landed at John F. Kennedy International Airport. Li Xiaolu and Zhang Lin exited the airport, returning to the United States. Zhang Lin was exhausted and went straight back to school. Li Xiaolu, on the other hand, returned to her apartment for a good sleep. 0

She had a dream in which Jijun's figure grew more distant. She couldn't help but chase after him. However, no matter how hard she tried, she couldn't catch up. She watched helplessly as his silhouette disappeared from her sight. Suddenly, she woke up with a start. 0

Looking around her empty room, she felt that everything that had happened in the past few days seemed like a dream. She turned over and picked up her phone to check for messages, noticing that Ms. Yu Min had sent her a message. 0

Ms. Yu Min: "How is your sister doing lately?" 0

Ms. Yu Min rarely contacted her unless there was something important. Li Xiaolu didn't have much fondness for her half-sister. They had never gotten along well since childhood. She remembered when Zhao Shu was six or seven years old; she had locked her outside all night, leaving her to freeze nearly to death. 0

After their mother married her stepfather, Zhao Shu returned to China, and they hadn't seen each other since. Li Xiaolu initially intended to ignore Ms. Yu Min's message but couldn't help asking, "What's wrong?" 0

Ms. Yu Min quickly replied: "She hasn't been responding to your stepfather's messages." 0

Li Xiaolu replied lightly: "She probably just hasn't seen them." 0

Ms. Yu Min didn't say anything further. Li Xiaolu set her phone aside, closed her eyes, and drifted back into a hazy sleep. 0

She slept very soundly and didn't wake up until the evening. 0
After getting out of bed and freshening up, she changed her clothes and prepared to go to the supermarket to buy some things. 0
As she reached the entrance of her apartment, she suddenly remembered something, turned around, and walked back to the table to take the umbrella out of the drawer. 0
