Li Xiaolu walked out of the mall, feeling a bit disoriented. She never expected to run into Jijun, nor did she anticipate misunderstanding him. She couldn't help but chuckle to herself, realizing how foolish she had been. With a sigh, she continued on her way.
Arriving at the bus stop, she boarded the bus. The vehicle was crowded, and she found an empty seat to sit down. As she gazed out at the scenery, her phone suddenly vibrated. She took it out and saw a WeChat message from Jijun. He wrote, "I forgot to bring the umbrella today, so I can't return it to you. I'll give it back next time."
Li Xiaolu replied, "Okay." After a moment's thought, she added, "It's fine." Jijun did not respond further. Li Xiaolu put her phone back in her bag, knowing that this might very well be their last meeting. After all, they were both strangers in this city.
She closed her eyes and leaned back in her seat, dozing off in a haze.

When Li Xiaolu returned to her dormitory and stepped inside, she saw Zhang Lin sitting on the bed watching a TV drama. She walked over with a smile and patted Zhang Lin on the shoulder. "Hey, what are you watching?"
Zhang Lin immediately put down her tablet upon seeing her return and opened her arms to embrace her. "I missed you so much!"
Li Xiaolu hugged her tightly in return. "I missed you too."
Zhang Lin released her and scrutinized her closely. "Why have you lost so much weight?"
Li Xiaolu chuckled lightly. "Have I?"
Zhang Lin nodded emphatically. "Of course! Just look at your face; it's so sharp now."
Li Xiaolu touched her face. "Really?"
Zhang Lin nodded again. "Yes! Have you not been eating well?"
Li Xiaolu smiled and said, "I eat a lot every day."
Zhang Lin sighed, "Oh, you really don't make it easy for me."
Li Xiaolu smiled again, "I know, I'll make sure to eat well from now on."
Only then did Zhang Lin nod in satisfaction, "That's more like it."
Li Xiaolu placed her backpack on the chair, then opened the refrigerator and took out a bottle of mineral water.
She took a sip and asked Zhang Lin, "What did you do today?"
Zhang Lin replied, "I went shopping."
Li Xiaolu smiled and asked, "Did you buy anything good?"
Zhang Lin jumped off the bed, ran to the wardrobe, opened the door, and took out a bag, handing it to Li Xiaolu.
"Here, this is for you."
Li Xiaolu accepted it and opened it to find a beautiful necklace.
She smiled and asked, "Why did you suddenly give me this?"
Zhang Lin blinked her eyes, "Do you need a reason to give a gift?"
Li Xiaolu looked at her and said, "Of course not."
Zhang Lin smiled and said, "Then that's settled."
Li Xiaolu put away the necklace and asked Zhang Lin, "By the way, have you encountered anything interesting lately?"
Zhang Lin thought for a moment, "Interesting things..."
Suddenly she remembered something and looked at Li Xiaolu with bright eyes: "I met a man a few days ago!"
Li Xiaolu couldn't help but laugh: "Really? Which unfortunate man caught your eye?"
Zhang Lin rolled her eyes at her: "What nonsense are you talking about!"
Li Xiaolu chuckled and said, "Just kidding, go on."
Zhang Lin cleared her throat and continued, "He's super handsome!"
Li Xiaolu nodded: "And then?"
Zhang Lin thought for a moment: "He feels different from those guys I used to know."
Li Xiaolu asked, "How is he different?"
Zhang Lin frowned in thought: "I can't really say how he's different; he just is."
Li Xiaolu smiled and asked, "So do you like him?"
Zhang Lin nodded: "I think I like him quite a bit."
Li Xiaolu smiled: "That's good."
Zhang Lin looked at her: "What about you? Haven't you met anyone you like?"
Li Xiaolu shook her head and said, "No."
Zhang Lin sighed, "Oh, you really are..."
Li Xiaolu smiled and asked, "What’s wrong with me?"
Zhang Lin looked at her and said, "You're already 27 years old. Haven't you thought about dating?"
Li Xiaolu shook her head, "I haven't thought about it."
Zhang Lin couldn't help but say, "How can you not think about it? Do you know what 27 means for a woman?"
Li Xiaolu replied calmly, "I know, it means I'm getting old."
Zhang Lin's eyes widened, "You know you're still..."
Li Xiaolu chuckled, "I just feel like I haven't met someone I like yet."
Zhang Lin sighed, "Oh, I really worry about you."
Li Xiaolu patted her shoulder and said, "Don't worry, I'll be fine."
Zhang Lin looked at her and asked, "I mean, do you really not plan to date?"
Li Xiaolu shook her head again, "I haven't thought about it."
Zhang Lin sighed, "You can't keep going like this."
Li Xiaolu smiled and said, "It's okay; I don't want to think about these things for now."
Zhang Lin looked at her and asked, "Then what do you want to think about?"
Li Xiaolu thought for a moment and replied, "I want... to make money."
Zhang Lin rolled her eyes, "Making money... is that all you think about?"
Li Xiaolu smiled and said, "Money is a good thing."
Zhang Lin sighed again, "Alright then, since you say that, I have nothing more to say."
Li Xiaolu hugged her with a smile and said, "Thank you, Zhang Lin."
Zhang Lin patted her back and replied, "No need to be polite with me."
