"Kids, are you alright?" my father and Uncle Du asked anxiously.
"We're fine, thanks to Bai Wei notifying you in time," I said.
"Bai Wei is really clever," Uncle Du said with relief. "By the way, we've found out that those people captured you for..."
Uncle Du lowered his voice and revealed an astonishing piece of news.
"What?!" I was instantly shocked, "They... they actually want to..."
"They... they actually want to use my medical skills to unlock an ancient seal and release an evil force?" I repeated Uncle Du's words in disbelief, filled with shock and fear.
"That's right." My father nodded gravely, "This news is absolutely true. We went to great lengths to find it out."
"Why would they do this?" I asked, confused. "What benefit do they gain from releasing an evil force?"
"We're not sure of the specific reasons," Uncle Du shook his head, "but one thing is certain: their intentions are definitely not pure. If they succeed, the consequences would be unimaginable."
"We cannot let them succeed!" A fierce glint flashed in Du Ming's eyes. "Lingxi, don't worry. I will protect you and stop this from happening."
I tightly grasped Du Ming's hand, warmth flooding my heart. I knew that no matter what happened, he would stand by my side and fight alongside me.
"We must act quickly," my father said solemnly. "Lingxi, your medical skills are exceptional. Do you have a way to stop them?"

"It doesn't matter. As long as we can stop them, I'm willing to take any risk," I said without hesitation.
"Good!" Du Ming looked at me with admiration. "Lingxi, I believe in you."
"What should we do next?" my father asked.
"We need to find the location of the seal first," I pondered. "According to the Medical Book, the seal should be in a place rich in spiritual energy."
"I know a place that might fit the criteria," Du Ming suddenly spoke up. "It's a secret estate of our family located deep in the mountains on the outskirts, where the spiritual energy is very abundant."
"Great! We must leave immediately!"
Du Ming's secret estate was indeed as he described; it was rich in spiritual energy. Following the records in the Medical Book, we spent several days finally locating the site of the seal—a hidden cave. The entrance was sealed with powerful barriers that emanated a chilling aura. To avoid alerting the enemy, we decided that I would use my medical skills to disguise myself and infiltrate their camp to look for ways to break the seal.
I took on the alias "Ling Su" and quickly gained the trust of the opposing faction's leader due to my exceptional medical skills. However, just as I was about to get close to key information about the seal, I inadvertently exposed my identity due to a careless mistake.
"You... you are not Ling Su!" The opposing faction leader pointed at me, shock and anger filling his eyes. "Tell me who you really are! What is your purpose here?"
My heart sank as I realized I had been exposed, but at that moment, I was more concerned about Du Ming and their safety. I forced myself to remain calm and sneered, "Since you've seen through me, there's nothing left for me to hide. Yes, I'm here to stop your conspiracy!"
"You overestimate yourself!" The opposing faction leader scoffed coldly and immediately ordered his men to surround me. "Seize her!"
I fought back with all my strength but was ultimately outnumbered and captured, imprisoned in a dark and damp dungeon. I anxiously awaited Du Ming's arrival, filled with worry and unease.
"Lingxi!" Just when I was about to despair, I suddenly heard Du Ming's anxious voice nearby. "How are you? Have they harmed you?"
I looked up and saw Du Ming, covered in blood, standing at the dungeon entrance with a long sword in hand, exuding an aura of killing intent. Behind him lay enemies sprawled in pools of blood.
"Du Ming, what are you doing here? It's too dangerous!" I exclaimed excitedly.
"How could I let you face danger alone?" Du Ming gently caressed my cheek, his eyes filled with concern and affection. "I promised I would protect you, no matter what happens."
He held me tightly in his embrace, and in that moment, I felt an unprecedented sense of security. Our feelings for each other deepened further through this life-and-death trial.
In the end, we worked together and used the ancient Forbidden Technique from medical arts to successfully seal away the evil power, completely thwarting the plans of our adversaries. As I looked at the calmness restored around us, I let out a long sigh of relief; however, my heart was not as light as I had imagined.
Were we truly safe? Had this thrilling experience come to an end? What challenges awaited us in the future?
