The giant tree where Xu Feng was hiding stood over a hundred meters tall, its branches lush and its trunk hollowed out with an opening four to five meters wide.
Xu Feng was using the Five Elements Technique to heal his internal injuries. The powerful recovery ability of the Five-Element Golden Core was fully displayed, and in just two hours, Xu Feng's internal wounds had improved significantly, with enough spiritual energy stored within him.
Suddenly, a sound from outside the tree hollow interrupted Xu Feng's recovery. A white head poked into the hollow.
Mother Fox had returned.
Two white foxes joyfully ran over, circling around Mother Fox's mouth, while Mother Fox fixed its gaze on Xu Feng, filled with hostility. This uninvited guest had intruded into its lair, and it was thankful that its two little ones had not been harmed.
Only Mother Fox's head entered the hollow; Xu Feng could not see its full body and had no idea how long or large it was. Judging by the proportions of its head, it was at least three meters long. The gleam in Mother Fox's eyes indicated that it was a Fifth-Grade Monster.
Mother Fox sensed Xu Feng's strength and realized it was no match for him. It opened its mouth and gently took the two foxes out of the hollow, leaving the space for Xu Feng.
Constantly changing dens is an instinct of demon beasts, especially those with young ones. To avoid being attacked by their kind, they must change their dwelling from time to time.
Xu Feng's injuries had mostly healed, but he was still not in a condition to confront a Golden Core Stage cultivator. He took out a Super Spirit Pill meant for Qi recovery and tossed it outside the hollow as compensation for Mother Fox.
Immediately, sounds of scuffling came from outside as the two foxes fought over the pill, but it quickly quieted down. It seemed that Mother Fox recognized the powerful spiritual energy contained in the pill and understood it would be beneficial for her, but consuming it would surely lead to their demise.
The footsteps of Mother Fox gradually faded away. It was still deep night, and Xu Feng continued his training, swallowing Healing Pills rapidly as his injuries healed quickly.
Having killed multiple Golden Core Cultivators, Xu Feng possessed hundreds of Sixth-Level Elixirs on him. With no more reservations about consuming them, he kept taking them as long as his body allowed.
The next morning, Xu Feng emerged from the tree hollow. Sunlight filtered through the leaves and illuminated his path. He let out a loud shout and soared up to the treetops. After a night of rest, Xu Feng's injuries were finally gone, and through this ordeal, his body had become even stronger than before, with an increase in cultivation level as well.
Xu Feng spread his Wings of the Strange Dragon and flew deeper into the Beast Wasteland. He needed to return to his residence.
The Nine Dragon Pool had lost its momentum; barring any surprises, the remaining dozen disciples of Nine Dragon Pool would surely be wiped out. The three Nascent Soul Stage cultivators were incredibly powerful; even with Xu Feng's strength, he could not intervene effectively anymore. There was no need to return for another fight.
Even if the three Yuan Ying cultivators from Nine Dragon Pool emerged victorious in this battle, they would be unable to reclaim their position; no matter how strong they were, they could not take control of the entire Liuxiang Kingdom. Some powerful individuals hiding in the streets had not participated in this duel; once Liuxiang Kingdom truly fell apart, it would not be surprising if a formidable Expert suddenly appeared from nowhere.
Xu Feng planned to return to Cliff, where there was a Teleportation Array belonging to Nine Dragon Pool. If Nine Dragon Pool wanted to leave Liuxiang Kingdom, this was their only option—there were no alternatives. With A Qi, a mutated Seventh-Level Monster present there, even if the three Yuan Ying Cultivators from Nine Dragon Pool survived, they would certainly face severe consequences.
Rushing forward along the familiar path, Xu Feng flew back to Cliff in less than two hours.
The stone door at Cliff was closed, and A Qi was nowhere to be found. Back on his own territory, Xu Feng felt relaxed, flying down to the stream at the base of the cliff to wash up and catch a fish to roast.
At Xu Feng's level, there was no need to eat ordinary food; the Golden Core within him could absorb the essence of the earth to replenish his body's energy. As an outsider, the appeal of roasting fish was much stronger for him than that of Super Spirit Pills.
Just as he finished roasting the fish, a Sixth-Level Monster Pangolin jumped out from the forest. It was the size of a van, covered in golden armor, staring at Xu Feng with its two light gray eyes, looking suspicious.
The Pangolin was one of the most defensively powerful beasts in the Beast Wasteland. Even newborns could withstand attacks from Fifth-Grade Monsters. As they matured into adult Pangolins, they could even eat stones when hungry.
"I am Xu Feng." Xu Feng regarded this level of monster with indifference; even if he couldn't kill it, escaping would be easy.
The Pangolin seemed to understand Xu Feng's words and turned to let out a low growl into the forest. Soon after, a half-human-sized White Eagle flew out. The White Eagle glanced at Xu Feng before turning and flying away.
This type of White Eagle was similar to the one under Yang Chenglin; its attack power wasn't strong, but it was fast and alert. This particular White Eagle had the strength of a Fifth-Grade Monster, far superior to that of Qinghua Gang's eagle. Seeing it communicate with the Pangolin, Xu Feng quickly understood their purpose.
Since A Qi was not present, and given A Qi's strength, there must have been arrangements made for Xu Feng's return. These two beasts were definitely A Qi's gatekeepers. With A Qi having leveled up and become more formidable, it made sense that a hole would need beasts to guard it.
Xu Feng tossed the half-cooked roasted fish to the Pangolin and roasted another one for himself.
Having never eaten cooked food before, the Pangolin happily accepted the roasted fish from Xu Feng and began munching on it. However, its mouth was so large that "munching" didn't quite describe it; eventually, losing patience, the Pangolin swallowed it whole.
After finishing his own fish, Xu Feng enjoyed his meal for about half an hour.
A yellow shadow descended from the sky; A Qi had finally returned.
"Sorry I'm late," Xu Feng said as he wiped his mouth and addressed A Qi.
Calculating the time, Xu Feng realized he had been gone for nearly half a month. During this time, A Qi had also undergone some changes; while still standing two meters tall, the Purple Blood Crown atop its head stood out even more prominently. The surrounding decayed flesh had completely disappeared, and its bird-like eyes glared with an air of dominance.
"Then let's roast another one," A Qi spoke human words, startling both the Pangolin and the White Eagle behind it. Among these beasts, A Qi usually communicated in bird language; suddenly speaking human language truly frightened them.
Xu Feng ignored A Qi's request and said, "Let's go back first; I have something to discuss with you." He then rose into the air and landed at the stone cave on the cliff. A Qi shook his head and followed him.
On the ground, Pangolin and White Eagle exchanged glances, seemingly bewildered by the conversation between humans and beasts.
Inside the cave, Xu Feng sat on his stone bed and asked, "After I left, did anyone go to the Teleportation Array?"
A Qi disdainfully replied, "Yes, two came. I had one of my subordinates kill one of them. You humans are really weak."
"Uh," Xu Feng flattered, "A Qi, it's not that we are too weak; it's that you are too strong."
A Qi nodded, shamelessly accepting the compliment.
It turned out that people from Nine Dragon Pool had discovered the changes at the Teleportation Array, which accelerated the conflict between the two sides. Xu Feng figured out the reason and said, "I just had a fight with people from Nine Dragon Pool; they have three Yuan Ying Cultivators who have already entered Beast Wasteland."
"Mm." A Qi tilted his head and arrogantly said, "No problem; I'll take care of them." As a seventh-level beast, it wouldn't be a problem for A Qi to deal with Xiang Ge and his companions. If Jin Liaoyuan hadn't adopted this Royal Sparrow, A Qi would have been a significant threat to humanity.
Xu Feng said, "There's no need for you to go; just arrange for your subordinates to wait at the Teleportation Array. If they manage to come here alive, we can deal with them then." The six Yuan Ying Cultivators from Liuxiang Kingdom were not to be underestimated; Xiang Ge and his companions might not fare well against them.
More importantly, Xu Feng didn't want a Birdman getting involved. The matters of Liuxiang Kingdom should be resolved by its own people. If A Qi was frequently called upon for help, it would imply that the cultivators of Liuxiang Kingdom were less capable than a Birdman.
A Qi was unaware of Xu Feng's thoughts and assumed he was worried about its safety, feeling touched. "Alright then; we'll wait until they arrive before we make our move."
After handling the matter with Nine Dragon Pool, Xu Feng took out the Fire Dragon Whip he had just acquired and asked, "A Qi, can you use magical artifacts?" The Fire Dragon Whip was a fire-element artifact that suited A Qi's abilities.
"I can't," A Qi immediately rejected. "Our demon race's bodies are different; we primarily cultivate our own Divine Abilities. To use magical artifacts, one must first undergo transformation and acquire some human skills."
Xu Feng intended to give the Fire Dragon Whip to A Qi but was surprised that it couldn't be used. A Qi was currently a Seventh-Level Monster and only one step away from reaching the Eighth-Level Transformation Period. However, this step seemed close yet was incredibly difficult to achieve. While there were many Golden Core Cultivators in Liuxiang Kingdom, Yuan Ying Cultivators were scarce, highlighting how challenging this transition was.
A Qi could spit out strange fire; when it was at Golden Core Stage, it burned Lu Dishi of New Moon Sect to ashes with a single flame. This Fire Dragon Whip might not even compare to A Qi's unique fire.
Feeling somewhat embarrassed about not being able to give away the artifact, Xu Feng asked, "Do you still have any pills? I can help you refine some more."
A Qi said, "You left behind several thousand pills, all for my subordinates to use. I hardly use them myself anymore."
Xu Feng felt a wave of dizziness and almost spat out blood. It turned out that his pills were now worthless in A Qi's eyes. It made sense; that batch of Super Spirit Pills was something Xu Feng hardly used himself, and even the Sixth-Level Elixir had limited effects on him, who was attuned to Five Elements Harmonization.
A Qi, a formidable Seventh-Level Monster, equivalent to a Nascent Soul Stage existence, found these pills practically useless. It seemed he needed stronger pill formulas; otherwise, he had the Blue and White Porcelain but couldn't refine better medicine.
Xu Feng wiped the sweat from his brow and changed the subject, discussing matters related to the Beast Wasteland with A Qi.
In the half month since Xu Feng's departure, A Qi had rapidly advanced in strength and began expanding its influence. It pushed through the Cliff and advanced another fifty miles into the territory of Seventh-Level Monsters, using Thunderous Means to subdue two Seventh-Level Monsters as its Guardians.
Due to its recent promotion and lack of absolute power, A Qi did not dare venture too far and only established its influence on the outskirts of the Seventh-Level Monster territory.
In the world of beasts, it was survival of the fittest; humans were no different. The Nine Dragon Pool had its sights set on the Liuxiang Kingdom, wanting to claim it for itself, which was no different from occupying and demolishing.
After chatting for a while, A Qi went out to arrange matters regarding the Nine Dragon Pool.
Xu Feng's mind stirred as he opened Xu Ye's storage bag.
