A tall and a short monk fled desperately for over a hundred miles, only stopping when they confirmed no one was pursuing them, panting like dead dogs.
"Guo Xiangqian, you bastard, next time choose your target more wisely. If we hadn't run fast today, we would have been done for," the shorter one, Gong Duan, said angrily.
Guo Xiangqian replied, "What are you afraid of? If it really comes to a point where we can't fight back, we'll reveal our identities. I don't believe those country bumpkins would dare to harm us; after all, you're from Wuhua Island."
"Why don't you try running and see if they invite you for a drink?" Gong Duan retorted sarcastically. "The New Moon Sect has quite a reputation; it might just intimidate them."
Guo Xiangqian of the New Moon Sect and Gong Duan of Wuhua Island indeed came from prestigious backgrounds.
"Let me tell you," Xu Feng emerged from the mist, his wings already folded away, "it doesn't matter whether they will kill you or not, but I will."
Guo Xiangqian and Gong Duan immediately jumped up, letting out a scream as if they had seen a ghost. Guo Xiangqian incredulously asked, "You—how did you catch up to us? Who exactly are you?"
"Who am I? Didn't you already know? I followed you all the way from Wuhua Island to here, and you're still asking who I am?"
Guo Xiangqian steadied himself and said, "I meant how did you catch up to us."
"Isn't that simple? Either you're too slow or I'm too fast. If you don't even know this, how are you going to teach Guo Manman to stand out in the New Moon Sect?" Xu Feng already knew Guo Xiangqian's identity; it was this Guo Xiangqian who had arranged for several thugs to nearly take Xu Feng's life.
Guo Xiangqian was startled. "You know Guo Manman?"
"Guo Manman has no major grievances with me, but you've been stirring up trouble behind my back, trying to kill me. If it weren't for my good fortune, I would have died at your hands long ago," Xu Feng's expression grew colder.
After a moment of thought, Guo Xiangqian said, "I know who you are now; so it's you, the traitor. Several of my men have died; it seems you've had a hand in that. I didn't expect you to fall into my hands today; this saves me quite a bit of effort." Guo Xiangqian then drew a Medium-Grade Spirit Sword.
Gong Duan, who had been silent until now, gently tugged at Guo Xiangqian's sleeve and said, "We should escape; he means business with that kind of talk."
"Escape?" Guo Xiangqian exclaimed, "Do you know who he is? He is an outer disciple of our New Moon Sect. Two years ago, he was only at the Refining Qi Stage, and now he has gotten lucky and advanced to the Foundation Establishment Stage. No matter how he tries, he can't possibly be my opponent."
Guo Xiangqian was blinded by anger. How dare this young brat speak so arrogantly in front of him? He drew his spirit sword and lunged forward.
Gong Duan had no choice but to draw his sword as well, retreating with a serious expression. He resolved that as soon as Guo Xiangqian was defeated, he would immediately flee.
"Unaware of your own mortality!" Xu Feng's killing intent was set. No longer holding back, he unleashed a dazzling display of light; the Black and White Twin Swords were already in his hands—these were Jin Liaoyuan's famed "Drinking Hatred" and "No Enmity," both Superior Spirit Swords! Guo Xiangqian finally regained some clarity; a cultivator who could wield two Superior Spirit Swords could not possibly be an easy target. However, his desire for the spirit sword ultimately overpowered his rationality, and Guo Xiangqian charged forward without hesitation.
Unfortunately, both Guo Xiangqian and Gong Duan were under fifty years old and had never seen Jin Liaoyuan before. They had no idea that these two swords were Jin Liaoyuan's signature weapons.
"Ten Steps, One Kill!" "Fire Dragon in the Field!"
Xu Feng struck with both swords simultaneously; two different types of sword energy instantly attacked Guo Xiangqian. Guo Xiangqian raised his sword to block, but with a sharp sound, his Medium-Grade Spirit Sword was severed in two. The remaining force continued unabated, and the pale white sword light sliced through Guo Xiangqian's right arm.
With a thud, his right arm fell off at the shoulder.
In just one strike, Guo Xiangqian was heavily injured and fell to the ground, eyes wide with disbelief and fear. Now he realized he was wrong and felt fear, but it was too late.
Gong Duan, who had originally planned to flee, was now too frightened to run away. He suppressed the urge to kneel and trembled as he said, "Yan Daoyou, I am blind to your greatness and have offended you. I will pay for my sins; take my storage bag—it contains five hundred thousand spirit stones. I hope Yan Daoyou will spare my life. This grievance between you and Guo Xiangqian has nothing to do with me." Seeing the situation turn dire, Gong Duan began to plead for mercy.
Guo Xiangqian let out a desperate wail; his hope for Gong Duan to save him had shattered. He cursed himself for not listening to Gong Duan's advice to escape earlier.
"My name is Xu Feng," Xu Feng revealed without hiding anymore. "Yan Da is just my alias."
"No, no, no! I didn't hear anything! I don't know Xu Feng!" Gong Duan quickly shook his head and shouted, "I don't know anything." He attempted to make promises in hopes of gaining a slim chance of survival.
However, it was useless. Xu Feng no longer looked at him, as if he were already a dead man.
Xu Feng pointed his "Drinking Hatred" sword at Guo Manman's chest and said, "Who helped me back then? In the Beast Wasteland, you arranged for so many people to kill me, yet I managed to escape. I couldn't even believe it myself."
"It was Jiang Quan," Guo Manman, knowing she was unlikely to survive, did not give up resisting. "You were inadvertently caught up in the faction struggle. I am with the Second Elder, while Jiang Quan is with the Three Elders. The person I want to kill is the same person Jiang Quan wants to save. Your life is worthless; he saved you just to give face to the Three Elders. Their reputation is worth more than your life."
"And how did you end up mingling with Wuhua Island?"
"The Second Elder wants to seize the position of Sect Leader but cannot gain the support of the Grand Elder Qiu Wuling, so he has to rely on Wuhua Island." Guo Xiangqian revealed shocking news.
The Second Elder colluded with outsiders and intended to use Wuhua Island against the New Moon Sect.
Gong Duan's expression changed dramatically. "No, no! I only temporarily decided to act against Yan Daoyou; it has nothing to do with the sect." Gong Duan still did not forget to protect Wuhua Island's interests.
"I see." Xu Feng flicked his sword, and Guo Xiangqian's head flew off, ending his life with Drinking Hatred.
At the moment Xu Feng made his move, Gong Duan also leaped back and fled for his life. After hearing so many secrets, he knew Xu Feng would not let him go. Whether he could leave alive was left to fate.
As Guo Xiangqian's head had not yet hit the ground, he saw Xu Feng unfold a pair of enormous wings and fly towards the fleeing Gong Duan. In his final moments of life, he finally understood why Xu Feng could catch up with them and realized how unbelievable it was that this existence, which had seemed like an ant in his eyes two years ago, had now become so formidable.
Gong Duan ran nearly two miles and turned back only to find no trace of Xu Feng. The night and heavy fog cloaked him in a protective shroud. Just as Gong Duan breathed a sigh of relief, he suddenly sensed a menacing aura approaching from behind.
Turning around, he saw Xu Feng soaring through the air with two dark wings spread wide. Halfway into the sky, Xu Feng's hand flashed with blue light as a fiery red sword aura shot through the air like a bolt of lightning.
Boom! Gong Duan barely had time to turn around and draw his sword when that sword aura pierced through his chest, rendering his low-grade Spirit Armor useless.
Gong Duan clutched his chest, his face filled with disbelief. Was this really the same cultivator from the Final Four on Wuhua Island? Such offensive power could sweep through the Celestial Path Tournament; compared to him, Hua Du and Cai Shujun were utterly insignificant.
As Xu Feng landed, Gong Duan had already lost his breath, a bewildered smile on his face, as if he were laughing at something unknown.
Xu Feng took Gong Duan's storage bag and spirit sword, flicked his fingers to release a Fire Talisman, and in an instant, Gong Duan was reduced to ashes. Returning to Guo Xiangqian's side, he employed the same method, and Guo Xiangqian also vanished from the mortal realm.
After checking the contents of the storage bag, Xu Feng found plenty of spirit stones, elixirs, and other cultivation supplies, but nothing caught his eye. However, the identity tokens of the two individuals piqued his interest, and he stored them in his Spatial Ring.
Xu Feng immediately took flight and leaped back to the riverbank where Lin Fangxin was located. As he approached, he retracted his wings to avoid raising suspicion.
Seeing Xu Feng return safely, Lin Fangxin felt somewhat relieved and said, "I truly embarrassed myself in front of Yan Daoyou earlier; those two thieves managed to escape. However, after this lesson, they won't dare to come back."
Xu Feng appreciated his goodwill and replied, "No need for such words. Yan Da thanks everyone here; these are the thieves' belongings. Please take them and divide them among yourselves." He then handed over the two storage bags to Lin Fangxin.
"You killed them?" Lin Fangxin asked. Although he had mentally prepared himself for this possibility, he couldn't help but feel shocked. Given the escape skills of those two, which were on par with the Final Four of the Celestial Path Tournament, it was astonishing that Yan Da had single-handedly killed them so easily. How many secrets did this Yan Da hide?
Lin Fangxin held the two storage bags, momentarily unsure of what to do next.
