In the following days, Chen Lan did not come to find me again. I knew she would not let it go easily. Sure enough, rumors about me began to circulate within the company. Some said I was unsociable and didn't like to talk, while others claimed I had a bad temper and was uncooperative at work. These rumors quickly spread among colleagues, escalating out of control. "I think Manager Liu's work attitude has been problematic lately."

I knew that Chen Lan felt emboldened because she had seized on some minor mistakes I made at work, trying to undermine my credibility in front of our boss.

"Chen Lan, since you enjoy pointing out others' mistakes so much, should I also bring up the time you misappropriated funds in the project budget?"

I looked at her with a cold smile.
