In the following days, Lu Hao ordered takeout for Li Ting every day, and the dishes were always different and quite delicious. Li Ting gradually got used to eating the takeout that Lu Hao ordered and even started to look forward to it.
One day, Lu Hao called her as usual. "Li Ting, it's time for your vaccine to be completed, right?" Lu Hao asked.
"Yes, I have my last shot tomorrow," Li Ting replied.
"Then I'll take you tomorrow," Lu Hao said.
"No need," Li Ting quickly refused. "You've already been working hard ordering takeout for me every day; you don't have to take me as well."
"It's not hard," Lu Hao said. "I don't have anything else to do anyway."
"Really, it's fine," Li Ting insisted. "It must be tiring for you to take me every day; I can just take a taxi tomorrow."
"Well..." Lu Hao hesitated for a moment. "Okay then."
"Thanks," Li Ting smiled.
"You're welcome," Lu Hao replied.
After a pause, he asked, "Do you still want takeout?"
"No, it's fine," Li Ting said. "You've already sent me takeout for so many days; it should come to an end."
"Oh," Lu Hao responded quietly, "I understand."
Li Ting sensed the disappointment in his tone and felt a bit guilty. "Well..." she hesitated, "I'll hang up now."
"Okay, bye-bye," Lu Hao said.
"Bye-bye." Li Ting hung up the phone.
"Li Ting," Xiao Mei suddenly leaned over, "have you developed feelings for Lu Hao?"
Li Ting's heart skipped a beat, and she quickly denied it. "What are you talking about?"
"Don't lie to me," Xiao Mei said. "You like him, don't you?"
Li Ting fell silent for a moment and said softly, "I don't know either."
"Stop pretending," Xiao Mei said. "Look at your face; it's as red as a tomato."
Li Ting touched her face and realized it was indeed a bit warm.
"I..." she stammered, "I just think he would make a good friend."
"Friend?" Xiao Mei scoffed. "I don't believe that. You like him, don't you?"
Li Ting sighed and remained silent.
She wasn't sure if she had developed feelings for Lu Hao, but she certainly didn't dislike him. In fact, she somewhat enjoyed being with him.
Maybe she really did like him after all.
After receiving her fourth vaccine shot, Li Ting went to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention with Lu Hao.
On the way, Lu Hao handed her a pomelo leaf.
"What for?" Li Ting asked, confused.
"To ward off bad luck," Lu Hao replied.
Li Ting responded with a blank stare.
She took the pomelo leaf and shot him an annoyed glance. "How do you know so many ways to ward off bad luck?"
"My grandmother told me," Lu Hao answered.
"Oh," Li Ting nodded and didn't ask further.
At the entrance of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, there was a large stone said to bring good luck if touched.
Li Ting walked over to the stone with Lu Hao, reached out to touch it, and then turned to ask him, "Are you going to touch it?"
"I..." Lu Hao hesitated, "I think I'll pass."
"Why not?" Li Ting asked curiously. "You need to ward off bad luck too."
"I..." Lu Hao scratched his head, "I'm just not used to it..."
Seeing his expression, Li Ting suddenly realized something.
"You can't be..." she exclaimed in surprise, "shy, can you?"
"I..." Lu Hao's face immediately turned red, "I didn't..."
"Hahaha~" Li Ting couldn't help but laugh.
"What are you laughing at?" Lu Hao said awkwardly.
"I'm laughing because you're cute," Li Ting replied with a smile.
Lu Hao's face turned even redder.
"Alright, I'm not teasing you anymore," Li Ting stopped laughing and reached out her hand, "Let's go."
Lu Hao hesitated for a moment, then took her hand.
The two walked forward hand in hand, and the warmth of Lu Hao's touch in Li Ting's palm made her heart inexplicably race a little faster.
She suddenly realized that this feeling was quite nice.
As they walked out of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Lu Hao suddenly stopped.
"What's wrong?" Li Ting asked curiously.
Lu Hao didn't say anything; he just took out a small object from his pocket and handed it to her.
"What is this?" Li Ting took it and found it was a small amulet.
"It means peace and smooth sailing," Lu Hao explained.
"Oh," Li Ting nodded and put the amulet into her pocket.
"I hope it brings you peace of mind," Lu Hao said softly.
Li Ting glanced at him, feeling a hint of sweetness in her heart.
"Thank you," she smiled.
"You're welcome," Lu Hao replied with a smile, "Let's go."
"Mm," Li Ting nodded and followed him as they walked on.
"Actually, there are many types of amulets," Lu Hao suddenly said.
"Oh?" Li Ting asked curiously, "Like what?"
"Like those for academic success, for children, for longevity..." Lu Hao said, "And also for love."
"Seeking peach blossoms?" Li Ting was taken aback. "Is there such an amulet?"
"Yes," Lu Hao nodded. "Do you want one?"
