Lu Hao: "......"
His ears turned slightly red as he avoided her gaze and said softly, "Just consider it a thank you gift."
Li Ting was taken aback by his words and quickly waved her hand, saying, "No need! You've already helped me a lot."
Lu Hao: "......"
He stubbornly looked at her and said, "I want to treat you to a meal."
Li Ting: "......"
She paused for a moment and asked, "Why?"
Lu Hao: "......"
He opened his mouth but couldn't find the words.
Seeing his silence, Li Ting smiled and said, "Senior, I appreciate your kindness, but really, you don't have to. You helped me get my card back; I should be treating you."
Lu Hao: "......"
After a moment of silence, he asked, "How about next time?"
Li Ting: "......"
She looked at him in confusion and asked, "Why do you insist on treating me to a meal?"
Lu Hao: "......"
He bit his back teeth and quietly said, "Because I want to be friends with you."
Li Ting: "......"
She was stunned.
Seeing her in a daze, Lu Hao added, "Just ordinary friends."
Li Ting: "......"
After hesitating for a moment, she asked, "Senior, are you saying this because you feel awkward rejecting me?"
Lu Hao: "......"
He took a deep breath and said, "No."
Li Ting: "......"
Looking at his serious expression, she suddenly laughed and said, "Alright then."
Lu Hao: "......"
He also breathed a sigh of relief and smiled, saying, "Then it's settled."
Li Ting nodded and replied, "Mm!"
Lu Hao glanced at the time and said, "Can we do it this afternoon?"
Li Ting hesitated for a moment and shook her head. "I can't this afternoon."
Lu Hao: "......"
Li Ting smiled apologetically and said, "I have plans this afternoon."
Lu Hao: "......"
He pressed his lips together and asked, "What about in the evening?"
Li Ting thought for a moment and said, "I should have time in the evening."
Lu Hao nodded, "Alright, then we'll get in touch later."
Li Ting: "Mm-hmm!"
Lu Hao waved at her, "I'll be going now."
Li Ting waved back, "Goodbye, Senior."
I arranged to meet Lu Hao for dinner on Tuesday evening.
That day, the four of us in the dormitory had no classes in the afternoon and slept until evening before heading out.
The restaurant was not far from the school; it was a private dining place.
There were no round tables in the hall, so I booked a small private room and sent Lu Hao the room number via WeChat.
Lu Hao replied that he had arrived at the entrance. I asked if he needed me to come down to get him, but he said it wasn't necessary.
I put down my phone and called for a pot of hot tea from the waiter.
Xiao Mei leaned closer to me and asked mysteriously, "So? Is he here?"
I nodded, "He's at the entrance."
"Really?" Xiao Min and Xiao Xue also gathered around, excitedly asking, "Is he handsome?"
"He should be quite handsome," I replied with a smile.
"What do you mean 'should be quite handsome'?" Xiao Mei rolled her eyes. "Handsome is handsome; not handsome is not handsome."
"Yeah," Xiao Min chimed in, "Handsome is handsome; stop being vague."
"I didn't say he's handsome," I explained. "I just think he looks like a mixed-race person."
"Mixed-race?" The three exclaimed in unison.
I nodded, "Mm-hmm."
"Which countries is he mixed from?" Xiao Mei asked eagerly.
I: "......"
I looked at her speechlessly, "How would I know?"
"You really are useless," Xiao Min complained. "You don't even know what his heritage is."
"......"
I sighed helplessly, "We haven't confirmed our relationship yet."
"It's only a matter of time," the three said again in unison.
I: "......"
I was too lazy to respond to them anymore and took a sip of tea.
Before long, Lu Hao pushed the door open and walked in.
"Wow!" Xiao Mei and the others exclaimed in unison, their eyes wide open.
I was also quite surprised.
Although I had a vague idea last night that Lu Hao was good-looking, I didn't expect him to be this handsome.
His features were very deep-set, with a high nose bridge, thin lips, and white teeth. The most captivating part was his eyes, which were a light brown color, clear and transparent, as pure as amber.
"Hello everyone," Lu Hao said as he walked to the table, nodding at everyone with a faint smile on his lips.
"Hello, hello!" Xiao Mei and the others quickly stood up, eager to greet him.
Lu Hao politely responded and then turned to me, smiling as he asked, "Li Ting, who are these?"
"Oh," I realized and introduced them, "They are all my roommates. This is Xiao Mei, this is Xiao Min, and this is Xiao Xue."
"Hello," Lu Hao nodded at them again, his smile still gentle.
"Hello, hello!" Xiao Mei and the others greeted him once more in excitement.
"Alright, alright," I interrupted them and said to Lu Hao, "Don't mind them; they just love to make a fuss."
"Not at all," the three of them protested.
Lu Hao chuckled but didn't say anything.
I invited him to sit down and handed him the menu. "Take a look and see what you like."
Lu Hao shook his head. "I'm not picky; you can just order."
"Okay then," I nodded and picked up a pen to circle some items on the menu.
Xiao Mei and the others sat nearby, staring at Lu Hao with intense gazes as if they wanted to burn a hole through him.
I thought: "..."
Clearing my throat, I asked, "Do you want to order some dishes too?"
"No need," Xiao Mei waved her hand. "You just order."
Xiao Min and Xiao Xue nodded in agreement.
I thought: "..."
Feeling helpless, I had no choice but to order a few dishes based on what I remembered they liked.
