Being with a girl like that must be very stressful, right? Just then, my phone rang.
When I answered, a man's voice came through the receiver: "Miss Li, it's me."
I frowned and asked, "What is it?"
He was a good friend of Yan Chao and I had met him a few times before.
The man said, "I heard you're looking for a job. Our company happens to be hiring, and I can help arrange something for you."
I coldly replied, "No need."
He chuckled lightly and said, "Don't misunderstand; it's Lao Yan who asked me to help you."
"He’s getting married next month and doesn’t want anything to affect his mood."
I bit my lip and said, "You can rest assured, I won't disturb him."
After hanging up the phone, I felt a sense of desolation in my heart.
I found a company not far from home to work at.
During the interview, the HR asked me, "I heard you previously suffered from depression?"
"Yes, but I'm much better now."
"What if the condition relapses?"
I took out the certificate I had prepared in advance from my bag and handed it to him.
"This is a certificate from my attending physician; he is currently abroad."
The HR took the certificate, glanced at it, and then asked me a few irrelevant questions before letting me go.
I thought my connection with Yan Chao was limited to school reunions.
Unexpectedly, three days later, Yan Chao suddenly became my boss.
As I was moving my seat, he walked over and coldly said, "Move your things inside."
I couldn't help but frown and replied, "On what grounds?"
Yan Chao said expressionlessly, "Because I am your superior."
"Either move or resign."
The colleagues around us were watching. I bit my lip and walked to my desk with my things.
Yan Chao added, "Close the door."
"You will work with your back to me from now on."
I reluctantly accepted his arrangement.
Before the end of the workday, I received a message from Yan Chao: "Company team-building tonight, gather at Starlight Restaurant at six-thirty."
I didn't want to go.
I replied, "I have something to do today, so I won't be attending."
Yan Chao: "You must come."
I: "……"
That evening, I reluctantly attended the team-building event.
The few people present had good drinking capacities, and I was forced to drink quite a bit, eventually getting drunk.
When I woke up, my head was pounding.
I opened my eyes and saw Yan Chao right next to me.
I was startled and quickly threw off the blanket.
Both of us were wearing bathrobes.
My mind went blank for a few seconds.
At that moment, Yan Chao opened his eyes and sat up.
"You’re awake."
I nervously asked, "How did I end up here?"
Yan Chao smirked slightly, "You drank too much last night, hugging me and kissing me."
"I said I wanted to go home, but you wouldn’t let me leave."
I widened my eyes in disbelief. "No way!"
"How is it not possible?" Yan Chao raised an eyebrow. "Just take a look for yourself."
He pulled out his phone and played a video.
In the video, I was all over him like a thug.
I was kissing him while taking off his clothes.
He pushed me away a couple of times, but I held on tighter.
I was completely stunned.
How could I have done something like this?
Yan Chao's tone turned cold. "Li Wei, what else do you have to say?"
"Should I send this video to your boyfriend?"
"Or maybe post it in your company group?"
I quickly replied, "No!"
Yan Chao snorted coldly. "So now you know shame?"
"When you dumped me back then, weren't you quite arrogant?"
"Li Wei, do you have any idea that I've hated you every single day for the past few years?"
"I wish I could tear you to pieces!"
I shivered in fear.
