After that night, I began to intentionally and unintentionally avoid Xi Han. He no longer asked to meet me, and I wouldn't take the initiative to see him either. However, some things did not go as smoothly as I imagined. When Xi Han wanted to see me, there was no way to escape. Whenever I tried to avoid him, we would always run into each other unexpectedly.
Whether it was downstairs at my home, at my workplace, or even when I was out shopping, he always seemed to appear out of nowhere. Then, with his deep-set eyes fixed on me, he made me feel uneasy. I had no idea what he truly wanted. But the way he looked at me felt like he was staring at prey. His desire for control grew stronger by the day.
He was no longer satisfied with merely leaving his mark on my life; he directly arranged my work schedule and dictated the details of my life. Even when I got a little too close to other men, he would intervene without hesitation.
At one dinner party, I watched helplessly as he walked toward me and placed his hand on my waist. "Did you ever think about how unhappy I would be while you were talking to him?" His voice carried a hint of coldness.
I was taken aback and frowned, "What are you talking about?" Xi Han chuckled lightly, "Don't play dumb."
"I said I don't like you getting too close to other men."
"You are mine."
I gritted my teeth, "I am not yours."
"I belong to myself!"
Xi Han looked at me with icy eyes, "I said you are mine; you are mine."
"Leng Yue, you have no choice."
I was trembling with anger, but in front of so many people, I couldn't do anything to him.
I could only swallow my anger and lower my voice, saying, "Xi Han, don't go too far!"
Xi Han smirked, "What if I do?"
"What can you do to me?"
I looked at him, speechless.
Xi Han chuckled, his hand gently caressing my waist. "I don't like seeing you with other men."
"It makes me feel like you want to escape from me."
"And I will never give you that chance."
I bit my lip, not wanting to get entangled with him.
But Xi Han wouldn't let me go.
He held my hand tightly, preventing me from leaving.
Under his deliberate actions, I finally couldn't hold back and left the banquet early.
To me, Xi Han was like a huge mystery.
Aside from knowing he was young and accomplished, a rising star in the business world, I knew nothing about him.
I didn't know his family, his background, or his personality.
He felt like a ghost that had suddenly appeared in my life, leaving me nowhere to escape.
Once, I couldn't help but ask him, "Why are you so obsessed with me?"
Xi Han glanced at me, his gaze deep.
"If I say it's fate, would you believe it?"
Fate?
What fate?
I looked at him, unsure of what to say.
At that moment, I felt powerless. It seemed that no matter what I did, I could never escape his grasp. My confrontations with Xi Han became more frequent, and I found it increasingly difficult to break free from his control. I considered many ways to resist him. I refused to meet him and ignored his calls, yet he always found a way to force me to show up. I fought against him, struggled against him, and tried to run away from him. But each time ended in failure. He was like a demon, trapping me tightly and leaving me nowhere to escape. The more I struggled, the tighter he held on. It was like being in a birdcage, unable to break free from my place. And I was that caged bird.
I told myself again and again to stay away from Xi Han. Yet every time I faced him, I would be drawn in by the depth of his gaze. When he looked at me, it felt as if he had cast a spell on me. I knew it was dangerous, but I couldn't help but indulge in it. The fear in my heart grew little by little, yet I felt utterly helpless.
