After leaving Ning Jing, I found myself alone in a strange city. I got a new job and changed my lifestyle. Every day, I made a conscious effort to forget everything from the past, trying not to think about anything related to Ning Jing. Only by doing this could I avoid falling into despair. Yet even so, the shadow of Ning Jing would occasionally appear in my mind. His gaze, his expressions, every single movement seemed etched in my memory, impossible to erase. I understood that I ultimately could not escape the shadow of my past. 0

That night, I walked alone on the streets of the city. The streets were brightly lit, bustling with traffic and crowds. And I was just a speck of dust in this thriving city, insignificant. As I looked at the unfamiliar faces around me, a faint sense of melancholy washed over me. Everything I had experienced might just be a trivial interlude in life. The memories of love, hate, and pain would eventually fade away with the wind. 0

I sat down on a bench by the street and took out the only photo of Ning Jing and me from my wallet. In the picture, we both smiled at the camera, looking like a happy couple. But now, everything had changed. We were no longer the same as we appeared in that photo. What we had between us was completely over. 0

I lowered my head and stared at the photo in my hands. This was the only picture we had together. At that time, the photographer had instructed us to smile, and we posed in that happy manner. Looking back now, that smile seemed so ironic. I recalled our past times; those beautiful memories had now turned into needles piercing my heart. 0

I don't know how Ning Jing felt after I left. But I can imagine he must have been in great pain. After all, he loved me so deeply. Even though our relationship had become unrecognizable and he was already thoroughly disappointed in me, I knew he still cared. 0

Ning Jing became even more withdrawn. He immersed himself in his own world, no longer caring about anything outside of it. His life consisted solely of work and going home. The daily routine of commuting back and forth was all that remained of his existence. He was like a machine, running endlessly on a fixed program. 0

Seeing this version of Ning Jing broke my heart. I remembered how vibrant he used to be, so confident and strong. Now, he had turned into this shadow of himself. His figure appeared so lonely under the night sky, as if losing me meant losing the most important thing in his life. 0

I knew he still cared about me; it was just that we could never return to how things were before. Ning Jing's indifference did not last long. After he learned the truth, he finally broke down. A pain I had never seen before crossed his face. He frantically questioned me about why I was with Qiao Yan, his eyes filled with despair as if I were a traitor. 0
