On the eve of the showdown, Adele suddenly appeared in my home. 0

Her arrival took me by surprise, as she already knew I was planning a counterattack against her brother. I sat quietly on the shabby apartment sofa, gazing at Adele. She sat across from me, holding a wine glass, her eyes hazy and complex, her lips trembling slightly as if she had finally shed her hard exterior for the first time. 0

The atmosphere between us grew heavy and subtle, both of us feeling an indescribable pressure. Adele confessed everything to me. She admitted that she had been hiding things from me because she harbored deep hatred for Eric, a hatred that drove her to use anyone to achieve her goals. Her voice was low and hoarse, revealing her inner exhaustion and pain. 0

She acknowledged that she had indeed used me, but during this conversation, she also revealed her true feelings for me for the first time. Adele admitted that she was not completely heartless towards me, which shocked and unsettled me. I began to realize that Adele was also a victim; despite her coldness, she was filled with pain and struggle inside. 0

I started to doubt whether I could continue to see her as an enemy. "I know you have been using me," I said softly, my gaze never leaving Adele's face. Her expression flickered slightly, a complex emotion flashing in her eyes. "You have feelings for me too, don't you?" I pressed on, my heart filled with conflict and struggle. 0

I wanted to hear Adele's honest words, but I feared that her answer would hurt me again. Adele fell silent, her gaze revealing an emotion I couldn't comprehend. The air seemed to freeze at that moment; we stared at each other without saying another word. 0

Time passed slowly; I didn't know what Adele was thinking, but I could feel her inner turmoil and conflict. Finally, she sighed softly, set down her wine glass, and looked directly into my eyes. "Yes, I do have feelings for you," she finally admitted. 0

Her voice carried a sense of helplessness and fatigue. "But I cannot let this feeling control me." 0

"Why?" My heart was filled with confusion and disbelief. 0

"Because I am Eric's sister." Adele's lips curled into a bittersweet smile. 0
"This identity traps me; I can only keep struggling and using others to survive." 0
Her eyes were filled with deep pain, and it was the first time I saw her so vulnerable. 0
"I don't want to hurt you," Adele's voice carried a profound sense of regret. 0
"But I can't escape the shadow Eric casts over me." Her expression twisted, "The harm he has done to me is too deep." 0
I listened quietly to Adele's confession, my heart filled with complex emotions. 0
I recalled my own past experiences, the feelings of betrayal and pain surged back to me. 0
"I know you are suffering just like I am," my voice softened, "but we cannot let the past control us forever." 0
"I'm really tired," Adele's eyes were filled with exhaustion, "I don't want to be controlled by Eric anymore, nor do I want to hurt anyone else." 0
Her words revealed a deep sense of helplessness and despair; it was the first time I felt her inner fragility. 0
"We must face all of this together," my voice grew firm, "only by defeating Eric can we escape the shadows of the past." 0
Adele fell silent, looking at me with confusion and uncertainty in her eyes. 0
But I could feel her inner struggle; she was contemplating her future and path forward. 0
"Are you really willing to face all of this with me?" I asked softly, filled with anticipation and hope. 0
Adele looked at me, her eyes shimmering with an understanding that I couldn't quite grasp. 0
"I am willing," she finally spoke, her voice revealing a resolute determination. 0
In that moment, I felt an unprecedented sense of peace and hope. 0
I knew that regardless of the outcome, both Adele and I would face everything together. 0
Our relationship was complex; we were not just allies but friends who understood and supported each other. 0
Although our trust had been shattered, that shared pain drew us closer together. 0
Our hearts were tightly connected because we had a common enemy—Eric. 0
We had to defeat him together to completely break free from the shadows of the past and regain our freedom and new life. 0
