I set down my teacup, cleared my throat, and began explaining the basics of stocks: "Stocks are essentially ownership certificates issued by a corporation. They are a type of security that represents a shareholder's claim on the company's assets and earnings…"
As I spoke, I observed Wang Mei’s expression. She seemed very attentive and nodded occasionally, as if genuinely interested in stocks. I couldn't help but smirk inwardly; this girl was putting on quite the act!
"Auntie, what you're saying is a bit too complicated for me," Wang Mei said, blinking her big eyes innocently at me.
I suppressed the urge to roll my eyes and patiently explained, "In simple terms, stocks are like tickets that can be bought and sold. When you buy shares of a company, you become a shareholder. If the company makes money, you get dividends; if it loses money, the value of your shares will drop."
Wang Mei nodded as if she understood: "Oh, so that's how it is. Auntie, do you think Li Kai's company's stock will go up?"
I pretended to be profound and smiled slightly. "Well, that depends on the company's development prospects and market conditions; it's hard to say right now." I intentionally left it vague. "So, are you thinking of buying their company's stock?"
"Yes!" Wang Mei nodded eagerly. "Of course I want to buy! Li Kai's company is so impressive; once it goes public, the stock will definitely rise quickly!" As she spoke, her eyes sparkled with greed.

Upon hearing this, Wang Mei felt even more uncertain. She anxiously asked, "So... Auntie, what do you think I should do now?"
I pretended to think for a moment before saying, "How about this? I have a friend who works in finance and knows a lot about the stock market. I'll give you his WeChat contact so you can consult him." As I spoke, I took out my phone and pretended to search for WeChat.
"Really? That would be great!" A hint of joy finally appeared on Wang Mei's face as she quickly pulled out her phone. "Auntie, please send it to me!"
