With the power of Duanmu Xue's strike and his own full-force explosion, Shadow Leopard's speed became astonishingly incredible. In an instant, it reached the front of several people, with Zhao Xingjian being the first target.
The onlookers had been keeping an eye on Shadow Leopard's movements, but they still couldn't keep up with its despairing speed. Zhao Xingjian could only cross his sword in front of his chest, and then he felt a numbness in his body as Shadow Leopard struck his sword with a claw. A tremendous force surged through him, sending him flying.
If Shadow Leopard's target had been him and it had followed up with another claw, Zhao Xingjian would have undoubtedly died. Fortunately, he managed to block it just enough for Yanshi to step in front of Milan and Miko.
Yanshi didn't use a weapon; instead, he held a shield in front of him with both hands. He crouched low, bending his back like an enraged rhinoceros, charging directly at Shadow Leopard with both his body and shield. His momentum was incredibly impressive!
Unexpectedly, Yanshi, who usually appeared honest and simple-minded, was so fierce in battle!
He didn't expect to injure Shadow Leopard with this charge; he only hoped to delay it until the leader arrived. Otherwise, behind him were two archers and Lufan, who had just reached the skin refining stage. Their defenses were too low to withstand even a single claw from Shadow Leopard.
Unfortunately, Shadow Leopard was just too agile. It turned its body and circled around behind Yanshi. Yanshi's powerful charge missed completely, almost colliding with Duanmu Xue, who was chasing after them.
Now blocked by Yanshi, Duanmu Xue could no longer catch up to Shadow Leopard and could only watch in despair as it lunged at Milan and Miko, opening its mouth wide to bite them!
At that moment, Milan and Miko were already stunned with fear, completely unsure how to defend themselves. They were on the brink of disaster, facing imminent death at the jaws of the beast.
Suddenly, two hands grabbed their arms and forcefully pulled them back, causing them to retreat rapidly against their will.
It was Lufan!
What was supposed to be a certain strike missed entirely as Shadow Leopard paused in surprise upon seeing the weakest human meddling. Enraged, it pushed off the ground hard, leaving four small craters behind before leaping into the air to chase after the three.
Lufan was the one pulling Milan and Miko back. Shadow Leopard's speed was so fast that Lufan couldn't even warn them in time. Moreover, given Shadow Leopard's speed, it wouldn't have made much difference whether he warned them or not; they had already braced themselves but still couldn't grasp its movements.
He initially thought that Shadow Leopard's target was only himself since he was the weakest. However, seeing that Milan and Miko were also in danger forced him to pull them back while retreating himself.
Behind them, Duanmu Xue and the others saw Milan and Miko being pulled back by Lufan, temporarily escaping a crisis, but they didn't feel much relief because Shadow Leopard was quickly catching up.
Just when they thought the three of them would be unable to escape this time, a strange scene unfolded: Lufan and the others suddenly vanished into thin air!
Yes, they disappeared right before everyone's eyes, without any warning!
At this point, not only were Duanmu Xue and the others stunned, but even Shadow Leopard, suspended in mid-air, was dumbfounded, unable to comprehend what had just happened. Especially Shadow Leopard, who was panicking over this incomprehensible event. It flailed its four paws wildly, desperately trying to stop itself from being swallowed as well.
Unfortunately, it had no leverage in mid-air and could only claw at the spot where Lufan and the others had disappeared.
Just as Shadow Leopard was about to reach the place where the three had vanished, a distortion of light and shadow occurred. Two figures flew out from either side; it was Milan and Miko, who had just disappeared. Both looked bewildered, unsure of what had transpired.
Shadow Leopard was momentarily stunned again, completely unable to grasp what was happening. But then it charged into that circle and saw a person crouching on the ground with a dagger in hand, staring coldly at its abdomen. The person gripped the dagger tightly and thrust upward with all their might.
The onlookers outside hadn't figured out what was going on when they suddenly heard an extremely shrill scream as half of Shadow Leopard's body vanished. Then they saw Lufan and Shadow Leopard appear together; Lufan was covered in blood while Shadow Leopard lay on the ground, disemboweled and rolling around in agony!
In the blink of an eye, Shadow Leopard had suffered such a fatal blow; it was unimaginable how Lufan had accomplished this.
Lufan staggered backward, fearing that Shadow Leopard might retaliate in its dying moments. But it was clear that Shadow Leopard no longer had such strength left because Duanmu Xue stepped forward and shot it again, putting it out of its misery.
Though it sounds lengthy, the entire sequence—from Shadow Leopard's ambush to pulling Milan and Miko back, then Lufan's counterattack against Shadow Leopard—happened in mere moments; in earthly terms, it took less than ten seconds.
After dealing with Shadow Leopard, everyone turned to Lufan, waiting for him to explain what had just happened.
Although Milan and Miko had experienced it firsthand, they were even more confused than Duanmu Xue and the others about what transpired.
Throughout the process, they only saw Lufan pulling them back while the others suddenly looked as if they had seen a ghost. Even Shadow Leopard appeared panicked. Then Lufan pushed them aside and crouched down with something in hand; after that, everything went dark for them until things turned out as they were now.
Seeing everyone's expressions, Lufan knew he needed to explain. He began cleaning the bloodstains from his body with a water bottle while he spoke.
When Lufan sensed the killing intent of the Shadow Leopard, he began to make arrangements. He took out a special Nightlight Stone from his backpack and quietly set up a Small Invisibility Formation. He had already planned this, wanting to use the element of surprise from the Small Invisibility Formation to severely injure the Shadow Leopard.
"This is how it works; it's essentially a diversion. I used the Nightlight Stone to conceal this area, but as soon as the Nightlight Stone is moved, the illusion is broken. You saw how the Shadow Leopard disrupted it while rolling around, rendering it ineffective."
Although Lufan explained it this way, everyone was extremely astonished. They never expected that the Nightlight Stone could have such an effect—becoming invisible was something only found in legends, yet a few small Nightlight Stones could achieve it.
For a moment, they looked at Lufan as if he were a monster. How could someone come up with such an idea?
Later, the playful Miko insisted on having Lufan set up the Small Invisibility Formation again and then dragged her sister to play hide-and-seek. Watching her flicker in and out of visibility as she ran around made everyone marvel.
"I'll return this Star Sword dagger to you. If it weren't for it, I wouldn't have been able to injure that Shadow Leopard," Lufan said as he handed the dagger to Zhao Xingjian. This dagger could truly be called a divine weapon; it was incredibly sharp and could easily cut through the belly of a Fourth-Level Primordial Beast like the Shadow Leopard.
Zhao Xingjian glanced at the dagger but did not take it. "It's yours now; I obtained it by chance anyway. Besides, I use a sword, so keeping a dagger would be a waste."
Lufan was taken aback. This dagger looked very precious, but seeing Zhao Xingjian's resolute expression, he didn't say much and accepted it instead, thinking about what he could offer in exchange for this dagger later.
He indeed needed a better weapon; previously, he couldn't afford one.
After accepting the dagger, he turned to Duanmu Xue beside him and asked, "What should we do next, Big Sister?"
