Xia Xiaoyu did not approach but turned and walked towards her dormitory. Along the way, she saw many students passing by through various paths in the Midnight.
She even noticed two students who were clearly engaged in conversation, but when she approached to ask them something, they vanished in the blink of an eye!
Xia Xiaoyu's heart raced with increasing panic. As she walked down the path, watching many people pass by her, she felt a tingling sensation all over her body.
Because she knew that as soon as she approached anyone, they would disappear!
To be precise, everyone passing by her was an illusion!
She was terrified and forced herself to walk past The Dark Grove, then up to the Fifth Floor. Inside her dormitory, everyone else was there.
They were all sitting on their beds, happily chatting away, but the only problem was that they could not see Xia Xiaoyu.
This time when Xia Xiaoyu tried to speak to them, they did not vanish, but she could not touch them. When she desperately tried to tap them, her hand passed right through their bodies.
Xia Xiaoyu was going crazy! She stepped back and left the dormitory, her heart racing like never before.
Everything was fake; no matter who it was, they were all illusions. They couldn't hear her speak or feel her presence!
The night remained hazy, and Xia Xiaoyu's panic reached its peak. Yet she did not want to stop; she could only wander aimlessly. This time was different—Xia Xiaoyu trembled as she exited the dormitory but saw no one at all. The campus that had once been filled with so many people was now completely deserted.
She now firmly knew that she was in big trouble. While she was on the rooftop, Xia Xiaoyu had imagined countless frightening scenarios.
However, she had misjudged; she wasn't facing real fear, but rather everything was an illusion.
In the night, a gentle breeze brushed by, stirring her disheveled hair. Xia Xiaoyu anxiously scanned her surroundings, trying to find a safe haven in the pitch-black darkness.
A chilling wave surged from the depths of her heart, penetrating her body and reaching her very core, making her feel the deepest fear.
After passing through Small Grove, Xia Xiaoyu wandered aimlessly, moving about haphazardly. She tried to keep walking like this, but when she reached the edge of a lake, she came to a halt.
She stared in surprise at the vast expanse of water before her. The surface reflected a sky devoid of stars and moonlight, just pure blackness that felt increasingly heavy.
But there was no lake here at all!
Xia Xiaoyu had never known that there was such a lake within University. Although the campus was large, she had never heard of it before.
Thump, thump, thump...
Her heart raced uncontrollably, beating faster than it ever had before.
Xia Xiaoyu glanced at the lake and finally noticed a figure sitting quietly on a dark stone by the water's edge, fishing with a rod. Beside him lay a bamboo basket for catching fish.
But who would be fishing by the lake at this late hour?
