She sat in front of the Mirror, but her reflection was nowhere to be seen.
As she progressed, the scene inside the Mirror changed again. She could clearly see that it was a bustling street, with many figures moving about.
However, the clothing was clearly not from the present society. It was only when she saw Yihong Lou appear in the background that Xia Xiaoyu realized this must be during the Qing Dynasty.
At the entrance of Yihong Lou, several young women adorned with makeup were constantly throwing flirtatious glances and charming smiles at the passersby on the street.
They were continuously saying something, likely trying to attract customers, but Xia Xiaoyu could not hear their voices in front of the Mirror.
Before long, a man dressed as a Bureaucrat appeared at the entrance of Yihong Lou. He wore fine silk and looked quite handsome, with delicate features. Holding a folding fan, he exuded an air of elegance. After standing at the door for a long time, he finally entered Yihong Lou.
Inside the Mirror, it was as if a television was reflecting this scene. Xia Xiaoyu stared in astonishment, forgetting everything around her.
Then the image in the Mirror shifted to a woman sitting in a serene inner room beside an ancient zither, continuously playing. Although she could not hear the sound, Xia Xiaoyu seemed to sense a faint sadness emanating from her.
The woman playing the zither had her back turned, her posture graceful and ethereal, resembling a Nine Heavens Fairy. Dressed in clear white garments, even just from her silhouette, Xia Xiaoyu could tell that this woman was extraordinarily beautiful.
Before long, the door to the inner room was pushed open by the Bureaucrat who entered. His arrival did not stop the music; the woman continued to play.
The man, who appeared to be jovial and talkative, simply sat quietly at an Eight Immortals Table, pouring himself a cup of wine. His gaze revealed a sense of infatuation as he quietly immersed himself in the melody. Although he seemed enchanted by the music, his eyes were deeply captivated by the woman's back.
After finishing the piece, the man opened his folding fan, looking calm and composed, as if he were at ease, applauding enthusiastically.
The woman, who had her back turned, slowly turned around. Although she couldn't hear any of the sounds from inside, when she saw the moment the Guqin Woman turned her face, it felt as if a flash of lightning had crossed her mind.
Because the woman who turned around was exactly the same face that had appeared in the Mirror at the beginning.
However, the Guqin Woman appeared elegant and ethereal, as if untouched by the worldly dust, while the face that had first appeared in the Mirror was fierce and filled with malice. The contrast between the two was too great.
The scene in the Mirror shifted again, and now the man was conversing with the woman. Though they couldn't hear their voices, from their affectionate gazes, Xia Xiaoyu suddenly understood something.
It turned out she was a woman from the Qing Dynasty, and a Courtesan at that.
The scene in the Mirror changed once more; this time it was during a Wedding. A Flower Red Bridal Palanquin was being carried into an Official Residence. In the end, Xia Xiaoyu witnessed the scene of their Wedding.
The woman's face was filled with sweetness and shyness, while the man looked entirely enamored.
However, during their Wedding scene, Xia Xiaoyu saw something that shocked her.
There were six women standing to one side. Although they wore smiles on their faces, it was clear that they harbored malicious intentions; this alone did not shock Xia Xiaoyu so much.
Among these six women, one wore an expensive blue long gown. Her face was not exceptionally beautiful, but Xia Xiaoyu felt a sense of similarity to that woman's features.
A stirring from her own soul...
This was not shocking; what left Xia Xiaoyu feeling bewildered was that beside the woman, there was another person of similar age dressed in the same way. Suddenly, Xia Xiaoyu felt a strong resemblance to Lin Xi.
The scene shifted again, this time after the wedding. The woman who had come out of the brothel had transformed into a virtuous figure, wearing the same attire as six other women. Although there were slight differences, it was clear that their statuses were quite similar.
Xia Xiaoyu deduced something: if the woman from the wedding wore clothing identical to the six women to signify nobility, then the other six must also be the man's Six Ladies.
Was the woman who came out of the brothel to form a union the seventh?
