Xia Xiaoyu lay peacefully in bed, her body turned to the side, making it impossible to tell if she was truly asleep.
Outside, the sky had completely darkened, a deep blackness resembling an unfathomable abyss.
The Quartz Clock on the wall continued to tick, its sound echoing in the silence as time slipped away unnoticed. The faint conversations from the campus gradually faded into quiet.
As night fell, one by one, the lights went out. The entire University began to feel like a monstrous beast lurking in the darkness, voraciously consuming everything around it, enveloping the world in shadow.
Silence filled the air, thick with an eerie atmosphere.
Around eleven o'clock, the dormitory lights went out. Everyone settled into their own beds, and then the dormitory fell completely silent.
Faint glimmers of light flickered from various beds but soon extinguished one after another, plunging the dormitory into complete darkness.
In that pitch-black dormitory, a series of faint sounds emerged. Then, in the lower bunk, a shadow shifted as a phone emitted a weak glow.
From that light, Xia Xiaoyu's timid and fearful expression was reflected. She glanced at the time displayed on her phone—it was already eleven-thirty...
Nothing stirred; only silence filled the space. Xia Xiaoyu felt an inexplicable tension rising within her. She was scared, but she knew she had to leave now...
After several minutes of internal struggle, Xia Xiaoyu finally mustered her courage. Slowly and quietly, she climbed out of bed. To avoid waking anyone, she carefully put on her shoes and threw on a random piece of clothing. After exiting the dormitory, she cautiously closed the door behind her...
The corridor was extremely quiet...
At nighttime, a biting cold began to seep in from all around. Inside the dormitory, under the covers, Xia Xiaoyu did not feel the chill, but in the corridor, especially at this midnight hour, she could sense a penetrating cold.
The thick black clouds had not dispersed; however, the faint moonlight managed to break through the dense clouds, casting a cold and isolating light that sent shivers down her spine.
Perhaps it was psychological, but Xia Xiaoyu cautiously descended the stairs. Facing the long, seemingly endless small grove shrouded in darkness, her heart began to race.
A wave of bone-chilling cold surged through her body. She nervously clenched her fingers and kept glancing toward the dark corners of the forest. After a long moment of hesitation, Xia Xiaoyu finally gathered her courage.
She tentatively stepped into the even darker small grove. The night was eerily silent.
The pounding of her heart echoed in the stillness of the night. In this desolate midnight hour, where it seemed no one was around, the sound was clear in Xia Xiaoyu's ears.
The cherry blossoms on either side were blooming more vibrantly as March approached. Yet in the night, the hazy white cherry blossoms appeared strangely eerie to Xia Xiaoyu, sending chills down her spine.
The ground was carpeted with white petals beneath the cherry trees. In the dim light of midnight, everything looked pale and ghostly; this path seemed like a road leading straight to hell—ominous and terrifying.
This fear did not stem from darkness but from the cherry blossoms...
After walking for nearly ten minutes, Xia Xiaoyu finally emerged from the small grove. She wasn't sure what she felt, but she let out a sigh of relief.
Suddenly, she realized that this cherry blossom path was so eerily frightening at night.
