The surroundings were eerily quiet, with dim moonlight scattered above, hidden behind a thin layer of dark clouds, making everything around even more blurred.
The entire courtyard was filled with a chilling atmosphere, reminiscent of the terrifying and eerie magic of Midnight's haunted house.
Xia Xiaoyu took a step forward. Seeing that there was no movement around her, she unconsciously leaned closer, eventually standing outside the door. Inside was a pitch-black void where nothing could be seen, and the paper windows were already tattered and worn.
Inside the Abandoned House, it was a complete mess, having been deserted for a long time without anyone to take care of it. Moreover, this place felt like it had witnessed many deaths, always instilling a sense of fear at night.
A faint flicker of light shimmered through the crack in the door, appearing elusive. Xia Xiaoyu's curiosity piqued as she bent down to take a closer look.
In the darkness, the moonlight reflected a cold and dim glow, and Xia Xiaoyu finally saw what it was.
Through the crack in the door was an eye staring at Xia Xiaoyu, blinking occasionally and emitting a glimmer of light...
Before Xia Xiaoyu could scream, a small hand suddenly reached out from the crack and handed her a note.
Unable to hold back her scream any longer, Xia Xiaoyu turned and ran away in fright.
This time, however, nothing strange happened...
She sprinted away under the cold moonlight, her shadow reflecting on the ground as she dashed along the street.
When Xia Xiaoyu returned to the dormitory, it was already past eleven o'clock. What made her feel more at ease was that everyone in the dormitory was present, including Zhang Li.
"Xia Xiaoyu, what's wrong? Why are you in such a hurry..." Tian Xiaojing noticed Xia Xiaoyu's heavy breathing and her pale face, and asked.
"I'm fine, really..."
Xia Xiaoyu swallowed hard and spoke in a muffled voice.
"Where have you been? It's so late. You worried us to death..."
Liu Feifei was about to say something else, but was quickly interrupted by Chen Mumu, who said, "Alright, Xia Xiaoyu, hurry up and get some sleep. It's late..."
Even without saying anything, Chen Mumu could guess something was off with Xia Xiaoyu's expression. However, everyone was too timid to press her for details at that moment, not wanting to scare themselves further.

Xia Xiaoyu replied absentmindedly. With her heart still tense, she felt a wave of numbness wash over her entire body.
After collapsing onto her bed, it wasn't until the dormitory lights were turned off that she began to process what had happened. Even standing there, she felt a chill run down her spine.
From the moment she started being followed to when she ran back from that Abandoned House, she had been all alone on that journey, especially at midnight.
The more Xia Xiaoyu thought about it, the more frightened she became. But then she realized something: back at the Abandoned House, a small hand had reached out and given her something.
A woman's instinct is to throw away whatever she is holding when faced with a situation, but Xia Xiaoyu still clutched the note in her hand.
She felt increasingly anxious, yet she did not immediately discard it. Sitting on her bed, Xia Xiaoyu's trembling hands unfolded the note.
A sensation akin to being submerged in seawater surged through her, cold and suffocating. With her keen eyesight and the dim light, Xia Xiaoyu made out three crooked characters on the note...
