The elevator descended quickly, and before long, it reached the second floor but did not stop. Instead, it continued to descend at the same pace.

The hospital indeed had a basement. Generally speaking, the first and second floors were used for storing medications, but the third basement was a place even doctors were reluctant to visit. Typically, hospitals were places filled with a heavy atmosphere; this was a sensation that was definitely not an illusion.
Especially in the early morning, hospitals were at their most terrifying. Even if it was as quiet as the outside world, anyone walking through the hospital at night would feel their heart race. The most frightening area was naturally the underground levels of the hospital, particularly the third floor.

The elevator suddenly stopped, and Xia Xiaoyu's expression was almost completely overshadowed by fear. She stared tightly at the elevator doors, and this time, she did not shout for help or ask for the door to be opened. Instead, she preferred to remain in this small, fear-filled space rather than go outside.
She hoped the elevator would never open; even if it meant death, she did not want to step out because she felt that what awaited her this time would be more terrifying than anything she had ever encountered before.

The elevator, after a brief pause, began to operate on its own again and started to ascend.
As if to torment Xia Xiaoyu, the elevator slowly rose and fell, sometimes reaching the twentieth floor and then returning to the third basement level.
But each time it descended, Xia Xiaoyu would panic because she feared the elevator would stop at the third basement. Just thinking about the rows of corpses in the morgue sent shivers down her spine.
Xia Xiaoyu felt as if her entire body was about to collapse. In this cramped space, she made no movements, only keeping her eyes fixed on the constantly changing numbers.

The elevator emitted a strange sound, and the numbers halted at the twelfth floor. The elevator suddenly stopped ascending, and the entire space, even the whole world, fell silent.
Xia Xiaoyu stared blankly inside the elevator, fixated on the numbers for a long time. It wasn't until four or five minutes had passed that she confirmed the elevator had indeed stopped, and she was now on the highest floor of the hospital, the twelfth floor...
She could clearly hear her own rapid heartbeat as everything in the hospital settled into silence.
Feeling somewhat scared, she paused for a moment before slowly moving her feet. Although she faced a dire situation, after experiencing so many terrifying events, Xia Xiaoyu did not let fear completely cloud her mind.
She moved to the edge of the elevator door and listened carefully for any unusual sounds outside. After sensing that there was no movement or anything strange outside, Xia Xiaoyu pressed the button inside the elevator.
