Xia Xiaoyu exerted all her strength, shouted loudly, and then turned around to pull open the door and rushed out again.
The corridor was unusually quiet, which was not a common occurrence. However, Xia Xiaoyu couldn't afford to think about that; she began to run around in a panic.
The sounds and footsteps from outside had already disappeared. She was on the Seventh Floor of the National Central Hospital. The hospital was large, but following the directional arrows, Xia Xiaoyu believed she wouldn't get lost. Yet now, it felt as if she wasn't even on the Seventh Floor; no matter how she walked, she couldn't find a safe passage or her own ward.
It’s fine, it’s fine, I can definitely find it...
Xia Xiaoyu's heart began to race, her mind a chaotic mess. This was too strange. After wandering outside for a while, she started walking down the corridor of the odd-numbered wards again. The hospital was vast, but after walking for a long time, she still hadn't seen a single person.
Was the entire hospital as if she were the only one there?
Creak...
At the end of the corridor, the door to the Operating Room suddenly opened slightly. A thick black mist began to spread out from inside the Operating Room, expanding recklessly and surging toward Xia Xiaoyu.
Tap tap tap...
In that moment, Xia Xiaoyu once again heard footsteps seemingly pressing down on her heart coming from within the black mist. They slowly approached from the Operating Room, methodical and steady, yet they filled Xia Xiaoyu with a sense of suffocation.
Tap tap tap...
The footsteps grew clearer, and the black mist slowly crept closer from above the corridor, seemingly wanting to engulf Xia Xiaoyu. In the haze, Xia Xiaoyu vaguely saw a shadowy figure within the mist, slowly approaching her, holding a glimmering transparent scalpel that looked like a pair of venomous eyes, staring fiercely at her.
Xia Xiaoyu began to panic and step back, her heart filled with fear. In the end, she stopped imagining anything and turned around to run wildly.
But there were no passages or stairs; she could only feel cold sweat starting to bead on her back. The black mist was beginning to swallow her, and the footsteps became increasingly clear.
In her frenzy, Xia Xiaoyu spotted the elevator on the right side of the corridor. Seeing the black mist surging towards her from behind, she felt as if she had grasped the last straw of hope and desperately ran toward it.
As she opened the elevator door without a second thought, she rushed inside just as the doors slowly closed behind her.
Xia Xiaoyu's expression was frantic; inside the elevator, her heavy and fearful breaths echoed. She was stunned, her tense body making her forget everything else.
She stood quietly in the elevator as it began to descend. Upon entering, Xia Xiaoyu had randomly pressed the button for the second floor.
She felt her heart nearly leap out of her throat. The cramped space gave her a slight sense of safety—at least she wasn't facing the vast emptiness of the hospital alone.
Inside the elevator, it began to sway slightly. At that moment, however, Xia Xiaoyu suddenly felt a wave of unease wash over her. Her heart raced faster as she anxiously stared at the numbers. In an instant, they descended three floors, and just when Xia Xiaoyu thought the elevator doors would open on the second floor...
A bizarre event occurred.
