Xia Xiaoyu felt a sense of confusion, but the unease in her heart grew stronger. At that moment, a faint light emanated from the room, followed by a few coughs. The door opened, and an elderly man emerged holding a candle.
He was an old man with a face ashen like dead ash, appearing pale under the candlelight. His hollow eyes slowly approached, glancing at the Big Man before sweeping over Xia Xiaoyu. That glance made her heart nearly leap out of her chest.
She felt a sharp thud in her chest.
His eyes resembled those of a dead fish, rolling back in their sockets.
"Come in," the old man, referred to as Uncle Wang by the Big Man, rasped in a hoarse and feeble voice. Xia Xiaoyu felt a chill run down her spine.
As Xia Xiaoyu and the Big Man entered the room, the old man slowly closed the door. However, the sound of the door closing only heightened Xia Xiaoyu's anxiety. Images from when they first entered the forest flashed through her mind.
She felt as if something was off about that moment.
"Uncle Wang, do you have anything to eat? I'm starving at this hour," the Big Man exclaimed as he sat down at a greasy, dirty table.
A strange odor filled the room, reminiscent of white glue mixed with grass juice—a pungent smell that made Xia Xiaoyu want to sneeze.
"Look at this little girl, she must be from the city. I'm sorry, times are tough, and I have to do some manual work." The old man placed the Candle he was holding on the dirty table and then smiled apologetically at Xia Xiaoyu. However, that smile seemed forced, carrying a hint of sinister malice that made Xia Xiaoyu feel a shiver run down her spine.
"Child's mother, we have guests..."
The old man shouted into the dark room.
"Hurry up, I'm really hungry..."
Big Man said loudly.
In the dark room, after a while, rustling sounds emerged, indicating someone was moving about. The rhythm of the footsteps was so regular that it reminded Xia Xiaoyu of the Bell Tower, where in the pitch-black upper floors, those footsteps echoed.
In the darkness, there was still something visible.
Xia Xiaoyu couldn't help but shudder. Big Man glanced at her and then shouted towards the Room, "Hurry up..."
Xia Xiaoyu grew increasingly anxious, her mind racing as she recalled how she had entered the forest and encountered Big Man.
When she stepped out onto the road, she clearly saw a car far away from her, but in an instant, it was right there?
Moreover, when it stopped, there was no sound of brakes; it was as if it had just halted suddenly?
And while sitting in the car on the mountain road, Xia Xiaoyu hadn't felt any bumps at all?
Xia Xiaoyu's heart began to beat uncontrollably. She realized one thing: she had encountered something supernatural again. She glanced at the old man and immediately noticed that he was somewhat unusual. There was no warmth, no hint of heat; the entire room was filled with a sense of lifelessness.
Had she entered a Haunted House?
[Since it was written late at night, she felt a bit uneasy. This is where I’ll stop for today. Sorry, just two chapters today. My sister is coming home tomorrow, so I might be delayed as well. But I will update, and I hope everyone understands that I am not a professional writer and have never considered myself one. I need to work to cover my expenses. Many people can understand this, so don’t worry; the book will be completely free, but I do need recommendations and collections. If you like it, please help me out. Love you all...]
