"You, how did you end up here?"
Xia Xiaoyu did not answer Cao Bao's question but instead voiced her own confusion.
Although she used to dislike his cowardice and honesty, now that he had become indifferent and calm, it made her feel a bit sour.
"Get some rest," Cao Bao said with a smile as he looked at her, then brushed past her.
For Xia Xiaoyu, she had never thought that one day she would develop feelings for him beyond friendship.
Because they were not from the same world, and for whatever reason, they could never be together.
His feelings for her had always remained unchanged, but she could not reciprocate. She used to think he was weak and simple-minded, which was not what she liked.
What she liked were handsome men with charm who knew how to enjoy life.
She wanted someone who could make her laugh when she was sad and offer a shoulder to lean on when she cried.
However, these things were not something a woman needed to voice for a man to act upon.
What a girl wanted was for a guy to step up and hold her when she felt helpless, providing her with a sense of reliance.
Therefore, Xia Xiaoyu would not like Cao Bao; he did not understand how to care for a girl or how to make her happy. He was a good person, but that kind of man was not acceptable to every girl.
However, the indifference and coldness of Cao Bao made Xia Xiaoyu's heart flutter for a moment. After standing there for quite a while, Xia Xiaoyu finally came back to her senses.
She turned to look, but it was just a dark figure slowly disappearing into the night...
Back in the dormitory, it was almost ten o'clock, and everyone had gathered.
It was still the same as usual. Not much had changed; they were all engaged in their boring activities.
People tend to forget. The death of Lin Xi could not haunt them forever. They would always remember, but they could not remain in despair for a lifetime.
Perhaps this was not necessarily a bad thing. Since they had lost something, sometimes they should try to learn to let go and bury it in their hearts.
Each of them still had a long way to go; they should not let one event hold them back for life.
No matter what, people live for the present. The past cannot be brought back...
"Xia Xiaoyu, you're back?" Tang Jiaying was always the most obedient and lively one in the dormitory. Seeing Xia Xiaoyu come in through the door, she greeted her cheerfully.
"Yeah, where did you all go?"
Xia Xiaoyu looked at Tang Jiaying and asked.
"We went out for a stroll..."
Tang Jiaying replied happily.
“Xia Xiaoyu, look!”
Xia Xiaoyu was just about to ask where Tang Jiaying had gone to play when Tian Xiaojing, who was leaning against the bed, suddenly spoke up.
Following the voice, Xia Xiaoyu saw Tian Xiaojing holding a scroll, smiling brightly at her.
“What is this?”
Xia Xiaoyu asked with a puzzled expression as she took the scroll and slowly opened it. However, when she saw the content of the scroll, she was somewhat taken aback.
Inside the portrait was a young and beautiful woman with slightly curled hair. Her eyes resembled clear water, serene and without a hint of flaw. Her cherry-like lips complemented a face that seemed otherworldly.
At first glance, even Xia Xiaoyu felt a sense of disbelief, and an inexplicable jealousy rose within her.
This face would make any woman feel envious; it was elegant and pure, yet there was a hint of allure in her eyes.
If there were such a beautiful woman in the world, it would be more appropriate to call her a fairy.
The portrait appeared lifelike; just one glance made it seem as if the woman in the portrait was alive.
However, when Xia Xiaoyu looked into those eyes, she felt an inexplicable emotion welling up inside her.
