Xia Xiaoyu took a long time to respond. She fell silent and then, following her memory, returned to school.
By the time Xia Xiaoyu came back from the small grove to the dormitory, it was already past ten in the morning. The events of last night were still fresh in her mind. No matter how she looked at it, it was far beyond what humans could comprehend.
"Xia Xiaoyu, where have you been? You disappeared early this morning!"
Seeing Xia Xiaoyu walk in looking completely drained, Tian Xiaojing, who usually woke up earliest, asked.
"Oh, I couldn't sleep, so I went for a walk!"
Xia Xiaoyu glanced at Tian Xiaojing and casually replied.
"Hmph, who doesn’t know that the laziest one in the dorm is Chen Mumu? You come in second! And you’re talking about morning exercises?"
Clearly, Tian Xiaojing didn’t quite believe Xia Xiaoyu’s words.
Xia Xiaoyu ignored Tian Xiaojing and scanned Su Ran's bunk, which looked just like it had for the past few days.
Su Ran had woken up very early; no one knew when she got up. Her blanket was already neatly folded, and she wasn’t in the dorm anymore.
On the upper bunk, Tang Jiaying was still sound asleep, lying awkwardly with her legs spread apart and hugging her blanket. She was mumbling incoherently in her sleep.
After glancing around at everyone, Xia Xiaoyu realized that everyone else was still sleeping.
She decided to lie back down and ended up dozing off again until nearly two in the afternoon. Because her sleep schedule had been irregular lately, she felt a bit of a headache.
In the dormitory, aside from Lin Xi playing on the computer, everyone else had vanished without a trace.
"Xiaoyu is awake!"
Noticing the commotion in the dormitory, Lin Xi shifted her gaze from the computer to Xia Xiaoyu, who had just gotten out of bed.
"Where is everyone else?"
Xia Xiaoyu yawned and rubbed her messy hair as she asked.
"They all left a while ago."
"What time is it now?"
"It's ten minutes to two."
"What?"
Xia Xiaoyu exclaimed, letting out a helpless sigh. "Oh my gosh, how did time pass so quickly!"
She glanced at her phone, confirming it was 1:51 PM, and immediately started getting dressed, looking a bit flustered.
"Are you okay? Why are you so anxious?"
Lin Xi looked at Xia Xiaoyu in confusion, not understanding her frantic behavior.
"I have something urgent! I don't know if I'll make it in time!"
As she spoke, Xia Xiaoyu hurriedly finished putting on her clothes, got out of bed, grabbed her toothbrush and cup, and rushed toward the bathroom.
"Very mysterious!"
Seeing Xia Xiaoyu's hurried figure, Lin Xi murmured to herself. Finally, she turned her head and focused on the computer.
After a while, Xia Xiaoyu rushed into the dormitory, juggling her phone and bag while saying to Lin Xi, "I might be back late tonight, so you don't have to wait for me if you have something to do!"
"Xiaoyu, wait a moment!"
Just as Xia Xiaoyu was about to leave the dormitory, she was called back by Lin Xi.
"What’s wrong?" Xia Xiaoyu turned around, looking at Lin Xi in confusion. However, as she noticed Lin Xi's increasingly troubled expression, she began to understand and softly asked, "Did you encounter something strange again last night?"
After a moment of silence, Lin Xi nodded and weakly said, "I think I heard some noises in the dormitory. I didn't dare to look too closely in the middle of the night; it sounded like someone was rummaging through things in the dorm."
"You didn't see anything?"
Xia Xiaoyu suddenly seemed less anxious than before and instead looked calmly at Lin Xi.
"I only heard noises coming from inside, and it seemed like the sound was coming from locker number four—your locker!"
Lin Xi paused for a moment before finally finishing her sentence.
