Zhou Junsheng was tied to the bed in his bedroom, a wooden stick clenched in his mouth, secured by ropes tied behind his head. He was sweating profusely and his body was convulsing.
A servant quietly entered the room and closed the door behind him. He pulled out a smoking pipe and a package of opium from his pocket. Zhou Junsheng's eyes lit up at the sight of these items, and his muffled cries grew louder.
The servant lowered his voice, "Sir, I couldn't bear to see you suffer, so I secretly bought these for you."
The servant packed the opium into the pipe, lit a coal lamp, and then removed the wooden stick from Zhou Junsheng's mouth, offering him the pipe. With the flame from the coal lamp, Zhou Junsheng took a puff and felt euphoric.
The servant continued, "Sir, if you can give me what they want, I can bring you a package every time. They will let me."
Zhou Junsheng's expression changed suddenly, but he stammered, "Give... give..."
Zhou Junsheng lay on the bed smoking opium while the servant held the coal lamp beside him.
Outside Zhou Junsheng's bedroom, two patrolling police officers caught a whiff of a strange fragrance.
One asked, "Is that opium? Didn't Boss Zhou say he was quitting? Why does it smell like opium?"
The other replied, "That's their business. We just need to do our job; why bother with so much?"
So, they walked past Zhou Junsheng's room as if nothing had happened.

Tao Gongjin walked into the hall holding a newspaper. Inside, Aunt Xiang was cleaning the hall.
Tao Gongjin asked Aunt Xiang, "Aunt Xiang, hasn't Tao Ziwen returned yet?"
Aunt Xiang replied, "Not yet. He probably has a big case to handle today and will be back late."
"Oh!" Tao Gongjin looked at the time: it was just past ten in the evening. He instructed Aunt Xiang, "You can finish up and go back to rest."
Aunt Xiang replied, "I wait until someone comes back before locking the gate and leaving."
Tao Gongjin sat on the sofa reading the newspaper. "No need for that today; I'm waiting for him."
"Alright!" Aunt Xiang said as she continued cleaning.
Aunt Xiang quickly finished her cleaning. Just as she was about to leave the hall, she saw Tao Ziwen stumbling back in a drunken state.
Aunt Xiang hurriedly helped Tao Ziwen into the hall. "Oh, young master, how did you drink so much?"
She assisted Tao Ziwen in sitting down on the sofa.
Tao Gongjin coldly asked Tao Ziwen, "Why did you drink so much?"
Tao Ziwen waved his hand dismissively. "They won't let me investigate Zhou Junsheng's case, and it makes me unhappy!"
"What's making you unhappy? It's just that they won't let you investigate Zhou Junsheng's case."
"I am a police officer! I am a police officer! I solved both Zhou Junsheng's case and the missing children case. Why should I just hand these two cases over to someone else? Zhang Shun said to Wang Junpeng, "Captain Wang, there's a phone call for you!"
Wang Junpeng replied impatiently, "Can't you see I'm in the middle of a game? Tell them to wait."
Zhang Shun responded, "Then... I'll give it to the Sheriff and let him call you back later!"

Wang Junpeng hung up the phone with a frustrated expression.

Cheng Yuyao shook her head and went back to the kitchen. She brought out a bowl of traditional Chinese medicine soup and sat by the bed. She scooped some soup with a spoon, blew on it to cool it down, and fed it to her sleeping sister.
Cheng Shuhua entered from outside and saw Cheng Yuyao feeding Cheng Yuwan medicine. She approached to take the bowl from her hands. "Your leg injury isn't healed yet; let me do it."
Cheng Yuyao did not hand the bowl over. "I'm fine now, Mom. It's just that my sister feels so hot."
"That's right; it's supposed to be hot. Once she gets through this fever, she'll wake up tomorrow."
