I returned home and as soon as I stepped through the door, I saw Jiang Yehan sitting on the sofa. His expression was dark, and his gaze was deep as he stared at me intently. I instantly sobered up.
"Ah, you're back? Didn't you say you'd be gone for a couple more days?"
Jiang Yehan coldly replied with a grunt.
mother Zhang hurried over, "Madam said she was going out to buy you a gift, so she stepped out for a bit."
When did I ever say that?
Jiang Yehan lifted his gaze to me, "A gift?"
I suddenly felt guilty, "Uh... yes."
mother Zhang quickly urged me, "Madam, you should go get the gift for Young Master to see."
But I hadn't bought any gift!
mother Zhang was giving me meaningful looks.
I had no choice but to force myself to search outside for a long time, but I couldn't find anything suitable.
I felt hopeless. There was nothing here; where would I get a gift?
Just when I was about to give up, suddenly, a white kitten appeared in my line of sight. My eyes lit up as I hurried over and picked up the kitten.
"Meow~"
The kitten affectionately rubbed its head against my hand.
I was thrilled and carried the kitten back into the room.
When mother Zhang saw me return with the cat, she immediately sighed in relief.
I walked over and held the kitten up in front of Jiang Yehan, "Here, this is your gift."
Jiang Yehan glanced down at the kitten in my arms and then looked at me again, his gaze deep and unreadable as if he were lost in thought.
Jiang Yehan stared at Kitten, his eyes flickering slightly. "Are you sure it's a surprise and not a scare?"
I laughed and replied, "Of course it's a surprise!"
mother Zhang chimed in from the side, "Young Master, this is a gift specially chosen for you by Madam. You must accept it."
Jiang Yehan glanced at me, then at Kitten, and finally pursed his lips. "Come in."
I immediately breathed a sigh of relief.
mother Zhang gave me a knowing look, and I followed Jiang Yehan inside.
After taking a shower, I collapsed into bed and fell asleep. In my dreams, I felt as if someone was holding me; it was a very warm feeling.
The next morning, I was awakened by the glaring sunlight.
I opened my eyes reluctantly and saw Jiang Yehan's handsome face.
He ruthlessly pulled open the curtains and coldly said to me, "Get up."
I glanced outside and saw an angry Cat Mother at the window, letting out furious yowls.
I awkwardly smiled and said, "Good morning."
Jiang Yehan snorted coldly, "What good deed did you do yesterday?"
I chuckled nervously, "Um, I'll get up now."
Jiang Yehan took me downstairs.
When Cat Mother saw me, her fur bristled as she let out an angry yowl.
I shrank my head back and said, "I'm sorry, Cat Mother; I didn't mean to take your baby away."
Jiang Yehan shot me a disdainful glance.
I safely returned Kitten to Cat Mother and bowed to her. "I'm sorry!"
Only then did Cat Mother calm down and carry Kitten away.
I watched as Cat Mother and Kitten left, feeling a warmth in my heart.
"You abandoned it."
Jiang Yehan's voice suddenly rang out.
I was taken aback, "Huh?"
I explained, "I just brought it back to stay for one night; I’m not getting rid of it."
Jiang Yehan fell silent for a moment, "Is that so?"
I nodded vigorously, "Of course!"
Jiang Yehan glanced at me and didn't say anything more.
In the following days, Jiang Yehan left early and returned late.
One day, he suddenly told me that he would be on a business trip for a while.
Curiously, I asked, "Where are you going?"
Jiang Yehan stared at me for a moment, "What do you want to know?"
I chuckled, "I’m just asking."
Jiang Yehan ruffled my hair, "I’ll be gone for a while; you stay home and wait for me to come back."
I nodded, "Okay."
