After coming out of the amusement park, my stomach was growling with hunger.
"I'm hungry," I said.
Jiang Yehan nodded, "Then let's go eat."
"I want steak."
Jiang Yehan looked a bit speechless, "Let's go."
"Thank you, dear," I teased him with a smile.
Jiang Yehan's lips twitched, "Hypocritical."
I frowned, "What kind of talk is that?"
Jiang Yehan ignored me.
I huffed and turned to walk away.
Jiang Yehan followed me.
We arrived at a high-end Western restaurant.
As soon as we got out of the car, a hostess came over to greet us.
The hostess led me into a dressing room.
I looked at the Armani Prive spring-summer haute couture gown hanging in front of me, feeling a bit dazed.
"Do I have to wear this?"
"Yes."
The hostess smiled and nodded, "This was specially selected for you by Mr. Jiang."
I swallowed hard.
I'm usually in T-shirts and jeans; suddenly being asked to wear something like this was quite overwhelming...
"Miss Ye, please change your clothes; I'll wait for you outside."
"Oh, okay."
After the hostess left, I changed into the purple mermaid dress.
Hmm... it's a bit tight.
But thankfully, I've lost some weight recently; otherwise, I wouldn't be able to wear it.
I changed into my outfit and went out, and Jiang Yehan was already dressed in formal attire, standing under the lights.
I looked at him, momentarily stunned.
This man...
He's just too handsome!
Jiang Yehan noticed me and looked over.
I felt a bit uneasy under his gaze.
"What's wrong?"
Jiang Yehan smirked, "Do I look good?"
I nodded.
A glimmer of light flashed in Jiang Yehan's eyes as he turned to the attendant and said something. The attendant then left, leaving just the two of us.
He walked over and pulled out a chair for me. "Please sit."
"Thank you."
I felt a bit awkward.
Jiang Yehan chuckled softly and began cutting his steak.
But I couldn't eat anything.
Jiang Yehan looked puzzled. "Why aren't you eating?"
I silently withdrew my gaze.
Jiang Yehan asked again, "What's wrong?"
I shook my head, "It's nothing."
Jiang Yehan stared at me for a moment before suddenly realizing something. "Is it because of this dress?"
I nodded, "I've never worn a dress like this before."
"Sorry, I didn't think it through," Jiang Yehan said after a pause.
"It's fine," I replied with a smile. "At least I got to experience the joy of being wealthy for once."
Jiang Yehan frowned slightly. "You are wealthy yourself."
I muttered in frustration, "I've never been wealthy; I'm just a poor soul starving by the roadside."
"If you like, I can buy you many dresses like this," Jiang Yehan offered.
"No need to trouble yourself," I shook my head vigorously.
"It's okay," he said, looking at me. "Just eat; if it gets ruined, we can buy more."
In that moment, I truly felt the capriciousness of the wealthy. I chuckled self-deprecatingly, "I've never worn such expensive clothes before."
Jiang Yehan paused and looked up at me.
"I'm an illegitimate daughter. I grew up in the countryside, and when I was ten, the Ye Family brought me back to be Ye Zilan's personal maid."
I smiled lightly. "Later, when Ye Zilan ran away from her marriage, my father married me off to your family."
Jiang Yehan narrowed his eyes slightly.
"My father said that the Ye Family would eventually belong to Ye Zilan, so I had to listen to her."
I chuckled softly. "But then I grew up, and my father said he would marry me off to that foolish young master of the Zhou family, believing that a fool could bring me happiness."
I looked at Jiang Yehan's gloomy expression and smiled at him. "Fortunately, you married me."
