When I first discovered the marriage certificate, I hoped that I could part ways amicably with Shalolo.
But she never admitted to being two-timing and always treated me like a fool.
Now that it has come to this end, they can't blame anyone but themselves.
That night, I received a call from an unknown number.
Although there was no caller ID, I recognized Lin Yulin's voice.
"Do you know that Shalolo is pregnant now? Yet she is determined to divorce me and wants to terminate the pregnancy!"
I replied calmly, "What does that have to do with me?"
"How can it not be related to you? If it weren't for you, how could Shalolo divorce me and be willing to get rid of our child?"
I scoffed, "Right now, both you and Shalolo are strangers to me. What you do is none of my business. Please don't call me again."
After hanging up, I blocked the number.
Looking at the flood of insults online, I ultimately softened my heart.
Deleting the post was my final act of kindness towards them and a way to let myself off the hook.
After five years of relationship, I can afford to let go as easily as I held on.
Let's leave it at that; I am too lazy to entangle with them any longer.
Since that day, Lin Yulin disappeared from my world.
Strangely, there has been a bowl of white porridge at my doorstep every day.
Looking at the familiar thermos, I know it comes from Shalolo.
But every time, I can only see the porridge and never her.
It wasn't until the day I was set to leave for America that I finally saw her at my door.
She looked much haggard, having lost a lot of weight, and her eyes appeared dull and vacant.
As soon as she saw me, she excitedly exclaimed, "I divorced Lin Yulin! We can be together now; we can go register for our marriage right away."
"I told you, it's over. Go back and don't come again," I replied.
But Shalolo suddenly knelt down on the ground, saying, "Brother Zhou Xiaoan, please forgive me one more time. I truly realize my mistakes."
"You always loved white porridge, right? I'll cook it for you every day from now on. Let's not part ways, okay?"
She clung tightly to my thigh, refusing to let go no matter how much I tried to persuade her.
My family’s pet, Fortune, started barking furiously at her, and soon enough, my mom came rushing over.
At the beginning of our relationship, my mom was already against me talking to Shalolo. After everything that had happened, she had developed a deep hatred for Shalolo and was just looking for an opportunity to vent her frustrations. Now, Shalolo had practically delivered herself right to my mom's doorstep.
"What are you doing here? Aren't you done ruining my son's life? Get out of my house right now, or I'll call security!"
Shalolo showed no fear of my mom's threats; instead, she tightened her grip on my leg even more.
"Security! Aunt Wang, go call security and tell them someone is trespassing!"
I hurriedly urged Shalolo to leave, but she stubbornly held on to my leg, refusing to budge no matter how hard I pulled.
"Zhou Xiaoan, I really know I was wrong. I can't live without you! I can't be without you!"
"You said you would love me for a lifetime and swore that you would only marry me. Why do you want to break up?"
"Please say something! I'm begging you to keep loving me. Let's go back to how we were before. I'm begging you!"
Shalolo's emotions grew increasingly intense, and tears had already filled her eyes.
