Sang Yan was absentmindedly organizing the basketball in his hands and casually replied, "A friend, Duan Jiaxu, is a few years older than us and is staying over for a few days." 0
Hearing the name "Duan Jiaxu," Sang Zhi's heart skipped a beat. This name had echoed in her mind countless times. Ever since that fleeting glance at him outside the internet café, she had been unable to forget him. 0
Sang Zhi secretly raised her eyes and took another look at Duan Jiaxu. He still had that lazy demeanor, his long fingers dancing across the phone screen as if everything around him was irrelevant. Although he was about the same age as her brother, he exuded an innate calmness and aloofness. 0
"Oh..." Sang Zhi responded softly, her heart racing like a little rabbit thumping inside her chest. She was even more determined to get closer to Duan Jiaxu. 0
From that day on, Sang Zhi transformed into her brother's little shadow, sticking close to Duan Jiaxu. 0
"Duan Jiaxu, let me wash some fruit for you!" Sang Zhi said cheerfully as she brought a plate of washed grapes over to him. 0
Duan Jiaxu glanced up slightly at the girl whose face was full of eagerness to please, a hint of helplessness curling at the corners of his mouth. "No need, just eat it yourself." 0
"I've already eaten; this is specially saved for you!" Sang Zhi insisted, picking up a grape and holding it out to Duan Jiaxu's lips. "Try it; it's really sweet." 0
Duan Jiaxu looked at the grape so close to him and then at the girl's sparkling eyes. In the end, he opened his mouth and ate the grape. 0
"Is it good?" Sang Zhi asked expectantly. 0
"Mm." Duan Jiaxu replied nonchalantly, shifting his gaze back to the phone screen. 0
Although Duan Jiaxu's reaction was somewhat cold, Sang Zhi was not discouraged at all. She buzzed around him like an unflagging little bee every day, checking on him and being considerate in every way possible. 0
"Duan Jiaxu, it's getting cold; you should wear more clothes!" 0
"Duan Jiaxu, my mom made your favorite Braised Pork Ribs today; you have to try it!" 0
"Duan Jiaxu..." 0
Faced with Sang Zhi's enthusiastic advances, while Duan Jiaxu seemed overwhelmed on the surface, deep down he gradually developed a curiosity about this vibrant girl. Occasionally, he would put down his phone and respond to Sang Zhi's warmth with a gentle smile that hinted at affection. 0
As the sun set, golden light streamed through the window into the room, casting a soft glow on Duan Jiaxu's profile. He watched Sang Zhi bustling about in the living room, and his lips involuntarily curled up slightly. 0
"This girl..." Duan Jiaxu murmured softly to himself, a hint of tenderness flashing in his eyes that even he didn't notice. 0

Duan Jiaxu's gaze followed Sang Zhi until she disappeared at the kitchen door before he returned his attention to his phone. Outside, dusk settled in as streetlights lit up one by one, illuminating the streets brightly. Duan Jiaxu put down his phone, stretched lazily, walked over to the window, and gazed at the bustling scene below while his thoughts drifted elsewhere. 0
"Jiaxu, dinner is ready!" Sang Zhi's clear voice called from downstairs, interrupting Duan Jiaxu's reverie. 0
"Okay, I'll be right there!" Duan Jiaxu replied and turned to head downstairs. 0

At the dining table, Sang Zhi had neatly arranged the dishes and was looking at him with eager anticipation. Duan Jiaxu sat down across from her, picked up his chopsticks, and put a piece of Braised Pork Ribs into his mouth. 0

“How does it taste?” Sang Zhi asked impatiently, her bright eyes fixed on him, afraid to miss any subtle change in his expression. 0

“Hmm, it’s delicious,” Duan Jiaxu nodded slightly, his tone carrying a hint of unnoticeable affection. 0

“I knew you would like it!” Sang Zhi smiled with her eyes curved, her face radiating a satisfied grin. 0

After dinner, Duan Jiaxu sat on the living room sofa playing on his phone as usual, while Sang Zhi tidied up the dishes. Once she finished cleaning the kitchen, Sang Zhi walked over and sat beside Duan Jiaxu, stealing a glance at his phone screen. 0

“Are you playing games again?” Sang Zhi pouted slightly, her tone tinged with dissatisfaction. 0

“Yeah,” Duan Jiaxu replied without looking up, his fingers deftly maneuvering on the phone screen. 0

Seeing that Duan Jiaxu had no intention of acknowledging her, Sang Zhi felt a bit disheartened and puffed out her cheeks as she stood up to head back to her room. 0

“I’ll get you a glass of water,” Duan Jiaxu suddenly said. 0

“Huh?” Sang Zhi was taken aback and looked at him in surprise. “No need, I can get it myself.” 0

“Just wait here,” Duan Jiaxu said as he got up and walked toward the kitchen. 0

Sang Zhi watched Duan Jiaxu's back with some confusion. What was going on with him today? He seemed different from usual. 0

Duan Jiaxu returned with a cup of water and handed it to Sang Zhi before sitting down beside her. 0

“Thank you,” Sang Zhi said as she took the cup and sipped from it, but her gaze kept sneaking glances at Duan Jiaxu. 0

Duan Jiaxu seemed to notice her gaze and turned to look at her, a slight smile tugging at the corners of his mouth. “What’s wrong? Do I have something on my face?” 0

“No,” Sang Zhi said, caught off guard. She felt a bit embarrassed and lowered her head, her cheeks slightly flushed. 0

“You…” Duan Jiaxu was about to say something when the doorbell suddenly rang. 0

“I'll go answer the door,” Sang Zhi said as she set down the cup and stood up to open the door. 0

When she opened the door, Sang Zhi saw a strange girl standing outside. The girl had long black hair cascading over her shoulders, an exquisite makeup look, fashionable attire, and exuded a youthful and vibrant aura. 0

“Excuse me, is Duan Jiaxu here?” The girl asked politely upon seeing Sang Zhi, her voice sweet and melodious. 0

“He is… who are you?” Sang Zhi instinctively replied but suddenly felt an inexplicable sense of unease rising within her. 0

“I’m his friend,” the girl said as she walked past Sang Zhi into the house. 0

Duan Jiaxu heard the noise and came out from the living room. Upon seeing the girl standing at the door, he displayed a look of surprise. “What are you doing here?” 0

"What's wrong? Am I not welcome?" the girl asked with a smile as she walked up to Duan Jiaxu and naturally linked her arm with his. 0

Duan Jiaxu glanced down at the girl's arm, his brow slightly furrowing, but he did not shake her off. 0

"I just didn't expect you to come," Duan Jiaxu said, subtly stepping aside to maintain a bit of distance from her, his tone carrying a hint of awkwardness. 0

The girl seemed oblivious to Duan Jiaxu's detachment and continued to smile as she linked her arm with his. She turned to Sang Zhi and asked, "Who is this...?" 0
