"Vice President Tang, what are you talking about? Young Mistress is smart and knowledgeable; she doesn't need us to teach her anything."
I found this amusing.
Halfway through the banquet, the Marketing Manager suddenly got drunk and stumbled over to me with a grin.
"Young Mistress, your strategy of retreating to advance is truly impressive. Now that Eldest Young Master is embroiled in scandal, he probably won't have another chance to inherit the company."
After saying this, he shook his head again.
"No, wait, not Young Mistress; it should be Third Young Lady."
I looked at him in confusion, unsure of what he meant.
He leaned closer and whispered, "Eldest Young Master has been caught with women in front of the media."
"Now the whole world knows about his disgrace."
I was taken aback, thinking who would be so foolish as to get caught by the media doing such things?
Seeing my bewilderment, the Marketing Manager chuckled and said, "Young Mistress, there's no need to pretend."
"This is all because of your family’s third young master Tang, right?"
He glanced at me and staggered away.
I stood there in a daze, feeling a chill run down my spine.
So this is how the Tang family operates? They would go to any lengths for power, even betraying their own brother?
After the banquet ended, I returned to my bedroom and looked at Tang Ming, hesitating to speak.
"Just ask what you want to know," he said, putting down his book and looking at me.
After a moment of hesitation, I quietly asked, "Is it true about Eldest Young Master?"
He nodded.
"It is true; however, it wasn't me—it was done by Second Young Master who leaked it to the media."
I widened my eyes in surprise.
For the sake of the Usurpation, he was willing to let his Elder Brother's reputation be tarnished and be Publicly Criticized.
It was terrifying.
I couldn't help but ask, "What about me? Can we still live in peace? Will we be caught up in this too?"
"Should I be afraid?"
He looked at me and shook his head.
"No need to worry; as long as I'm here, you won't be in any danger."
I looked at him, feeling a bit more reassured.
He asked me, "Are you afraid of me?"
I shook my head.
"No, you are my husband."
He chuckled softly and pulled me into his embrace.
"Sometimes misunderstandings aren't necessarily a bad thing; serendipity can lead to something good. Do you regret marrying me?"
I paused, sensing that he might know something.
I replied softly, "I don't know."
"But I don't regret it now."
He looked down at me and asked, "Why?"
I reached out and held him close.
"Because... I like you."
His body stiffened for a moment, and he didn't say anything.
I lifted my head to look at him and asked, "What about you? Do you like me?"
He didn't answer but lowered his head and kissed my lips.
"Mmm..."
I widened my eyes, feeling his passion, and I could only feel myself heating up all over.
The dim night light on the bedside table cast the shadows of two entwined figures on the wall. In a moment of passion, I couldn't help but ask him, "Tang Ming, do you like me?" He didn't answer, but his movements became even more intense.
I sat by the window, gazing at the lotus flowers in the pond outside, recalling my time at the Lin family. The life I have now is like heaven compared to what it used to be. I gently stroked the guqin, playing "Canon," feeling joyful.
The housekeeper walked in and said, "Madam, there's something I don't know if I should mention." I looked at her and asked, "What is it?" The housekeeper hesitated for a moment and softly said, "The second young lady of the Lin family is getting married."
I was taken aback and asked, "Who is she marrying?" The housekeeper replied, "The Eldest Young Master of the Tang Family Group." I looked at her in surprise.
